Dumplings are traditionally considered a dish of Ukrainian cuisine. Although in various forms they are found almost everywhere. In the Czech Republic and Poland, these are dumplings, in Italy - gnocchi, in Germany - noodles. True, in Russia this dish has taken root in a peculiar format - we will tell you today about this dish, which is especially popular.

As a basis, you should take the usual chicken broth. By the way, in order for it to acquire a pleasant aroma and a golden hue, vegetables for it should be baked in the oven. Next, finely chopped carrots are sent to the soup, a couple of potatoes in cubes, and at the last stage dumplings are already laid. But for their preparation there are several different recipes.

What are dumplings?

These are those that are boiled in the manner of dumplings. This dish belongs to Eastern European cuisine. Most often they are made without filling, although in some versions for soup it also contains minced meat or pieces of meat.

An even simpler recipe for soup dumplings is Chechen. They will need a minimum set of products: 1 egg, 120 milliliters of water, salt and flour - as much as they take. From them we knead a rather steep dough and form dumplings. We stretch each slightly and twist it into a shell. They should be cooked a little longer than in the previous recipe. In addition to such a soup, we make a dressing - crush the garlic, add salt and a couple of tablespoons of broth to it.

But dumplings in Poltava even opened a monument in their hometown. To prepare them, we take 1 cup of flour, 1/3 cup of kefir, 1 egg, 0.5 teaspoon of soda, salt and sugar. We knead the dough on the sifted flour, form a bun out of it and let it rest for half an hour. We divide the resulting ball on the working surface into parts, roll out a sausage from each and cut into pieces. It is better to cook such dumplings for a couple, and then put them on a plate in portions and pour in the broth. We warn you: they are tender and fluffy, and when cooked, they increase significantly in volume.
