Driving in Finland. Alcohol limit while driving in Europe and North America

There are many toll roads and tunnels in Italy, and fees are charged based on the distance traveled. When leaving the highway, the driver must receive a special coupon, thanks to which the fare will be calculated later. At the same time, tourists should remember that when approaching the payment terminals, they must use the white or blue corridors. And the yellow ones with the inscription Telepass are intended exclusively for drivers who have automatic pass cards (when renting a car for several days, it makes no sense to buy the latter). As a rule, you can pay for a toll road either in cash or with a bank card. However, we strongly advise you to have cash with you - experience shows that sometimes "plastic" is not "readable".

Parking in Italy (especially near historical monuments) is paid. At the same time, in many cases, the driver is required not only to pay for parking, but also to put a special plastic clock under the windshield, on which the arrival time is set (in Italian it sounds like disco orario). In the absence of such hours, you will be issued a fine (you can buy a parking disc at the post office, gas stations, tobacco shops, travel agencies). You also need to remember that many parking machines in Italy only accept coins.

Speed limit in Italy:

  • in the settlement - 50 km / h;
  • outside the settlement - 90 km / h;
  • on the motorway - up to 130 km / h (in rain or wet weather, the speed is reduced to 110 km / h).

It should be remembered that in Italy there are a lot of cameras that control speed.

Fines for breaking the speed limit in Italy are high, and even the smallest speed limit is punished. The admissible error of the radar is 5%.

Over speed:

  • no more than 10 km / h - 41-168 euros;
  • at 10-40 km / h - 168-674 euros;
  • 40-60 km / h - 527-2108 euros;
  • exceeding the speed limit by more than 60 km / h - 821-3287 euros.

Other traffic violations:

  • travel to a prohibiting traffic light - 162-646 euros;
  • overtaking in a prohibited place - 162-646 euros;
  • incorrect parking - 40 euros;
  • entrance to the zone of limited traffic (located, as a rule, in the historical centers of cities) - 100 euros.

It should be borne in mind that at night, if some traffic rules are violated (serious speeding, drunk driving, and so on), the fine can be increased by 33%!

Driver's blood alcohol level

In Italy, the maximum legal blood alcohol level is 0.5%. For drivers under the age of 21 or with less than three years of driving experience - 0 ppm.

Penalties for "drunk driving" in Italy depend on the degree of intoxication. If the blood alcohol level is from 0.8 to 1.5 ppm, then the fine will be from 800 to 3200 euros. Plus deprivation of rights for 6-12 months (moreover, imprisonment for up to 6 months is also possible). If the alcohol level is more than 1.5 ppm, then the fine will be from 1,500 to 6,000 euros, deprivation of rights for 1-2 years and imprisonment for up to 2 years (the same punishment is provided for when a medical examination is refused).

Features of traffic rules in Italy:

  • Dipped beam is mandatory when driving outside built-up areas, as well as in conditions of poor visibility.
  • Children less than 150 cm tall must be transported in special seats appropriate for their age (for children over three years old, the use of a booster is acceptable). The fine is 80-323 euros.
  • The use of seat belts is mandatory for all passengers. The fine is 80-323 euros.
  • Talking on the phone while driving without using the hands-free system is prohibited. The fine is 160-646 euros.
  • It is mandatory to have a reflective vest, which must be worn when stopping on the roadway or roadside at night or in conditions of poor visibility. The fine is 41-168 euros.

Payment of fines in Italy

It is best in Italy to pay a fine on the spot - the policeman will write out a receipt.

Winter tires

Winter tires are mandatory in only two Italian provinces. In the Valle d'Aosta region, winter tires or snow chains must be worn from 1 October to 15 April. In the province of Sudtirol (Bolzano region), they must be carried from November 15 to March 31.

The use of studded tires is allowed in the rest of the country from November 15 to March 15.

Emergency numbers:

Police - 112, 113.
Technical assistance on the road - 116.
"Ambulance" - 118.
Fire department - 115.

In the event of a traffic accident, the person responsible for the accident is first of all taken for a blood test to determine the content of alcohol in it. In Lithuania, the allowable rate is 0.4 ppm.

WHAT IS PROMILLE?
- A percentage is one hundredth of something, and a ppm is one thousandth. The concentration of alcohol in the blood is measured in ppm. One ppm means that there is one gram of alcohol per liter of blood, says toxicologist Alvydas Riapachka, adding that 4 or 5 ppm can pose a threat to human life.
But it also happens to be incredible. So, in the blood of a 67-year-old resident of Plovdiv (Bulgaria), 9.14 ppm of alcohol was found. And quite recently, a 40-year-old resident of the Polish Carpathian region “broke” the record not only of Poland, but of the whole world - the degree of his intoxication reached 13.75 (!) ppm.
The doctor claims that with the help of especially sensitive devices, ethyl alcohol could be detected even in the body of a completely non-drinking person. Scientists still don't know if it's due to gut bacteria or some ethylation process. But in this case, the breathalyzer will show 0.
So, how much and what can you drink so that the device shows an acceptable rate of 0.4 ppm? The doctor does not dare to make predictions:
- It depends on many factors: the state of the digestive tract, the intensity of metabolism, the process of resorption - the absorption of substances from the digestive tract into the blood, the weight of the person and the food he ate. If, while drinking, a person snacks, the resorption process is slower, and if he does not snack, the process accelerates.
The process of absorption of alcohol into the blood of everyone occurs in different ways, therefore, the intensity of sobering up is different for everyone. One thing is clear: this process is very slow. Sobering time depends on the health, sex and weight of the person.
90% of the work to remove alcohol from the body falls on the liver, 10% - on the lungs and kidneys. Scientists have calculated that the liver of a healthy person, on average, neutralizes 0.15-0.20 ppm per hour. In women, this process is slower. On average, it takes up to 6 hours to remove 1 ppm from the body.
In three hours, the body processes a dose equal to two glasses of beer, a glass of dry wine or 50 g of vodka. If you drank 200 g of vodka in the evening, you cannot drive for at least 10-12 hours.

PROMILLET AND DRIVING
Scientists have established how alcohol affects the quality of driving.
0.2-0.5 ppm: Harder to judge moving light sources; it is impossible to accurately determine the distance to the car moving in front; it is difficult to determine the amount of traffic on the road, so overtaking becomes more risky; the driver is more risk averse; does not maintain a safe distance.
0.5-0.8 ppm: Drivers misjudge distance; may “not fit” into the turn; the adaptation of the eyes to changes in lighting deteriorates; the risk of glare increases when switching from high beam to low beam; reaction slows down, attention is lost, motorcyclists and cyclists keep balance worse.
0.8-1.2 ppm: vision weakens even more when switching light; the first signs of euphoria appear, reassessment of opportunities, driving style is increasingly risky; the field of view narrows; drivers may not notice passing vehicles; reaction worsens; the time before the start of braking or turning is increased; distance is estimated worse; pedestrians, vehicles or other obstacles may be seen too late.
1.2-2.4 ppm. It is almost impossible to drive a car in this position; all the previously listed violations are aggravated; driving becomes extremely risky.

PPM IN EUROPE
Permissible limits for the concentration of alcohol in the blood are set in each country - in Lithuania it is 0.4 ppm.
According to the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences, which came into force in January 2008, persons with a driving experience of less than 2 years for driving in a state of slight intoxication (0.2-0.4 ppm) face a fine of 800-1000 litas. In case of mild intoxication (0.41-0.5 ppm) fine - from 1000 to 1500 litas, in case of medium (1.51-2.5 ppm) or severe intoxication (over 2.51 ppm), as well as If the driver refuses to pass a breathalyzer test, a fine of up to 3,000 litas and deprivation of a driver's license for up to 3 years can result.
In Western Europe, the legal blood alcohol level is usually 0.5 ppm, while in Eastern Europe it is 0-0.3 ppm. In most countries, drivers with less than 2 years of driving experience have lower blood alcohol levels. There are also stricter rules for bus and truck drivers.
The fine for drunk driving in Europe can be as high as several hundred or even thousands of euros.

When traveling on the good, wide, comfortable, free, informative, generally comfortable and safe roads in Finland, follow the rules of the road. Violation of the rules threatens with a meeting with the police and a fine, and non-payment of a fine - problems with subsequent entry into the country and the EU.

When renting a car, contact well-known companies offering technically advanced cars - Avis, Hertz, Eurocar, Toyota, Finnish Penteca, Netpent. When booking a car, control your expenses and pay your bills.

From December 1 to February 28, you must use studded tires and turn on the car heater. Do not use studded and non-studded tires at the same time. All season tires are allowed.

Since the beginning of 2009, the Finnish traffic police have learned to track cars by number using video cameras, even in oncoming traffic. Don't be reckless. The speed limit in the city is 50 km/h, outside the city in general - 80 km/h, on the winter highway - 100 km/h, on the summer highway - 120 km/h. Focus on the signs.

Be vigilant in places where signs with the image of an elk are installed, slow down, especially at night - moose and reindeer often cross the road, a collision with which threatens the animal, your car and your health with major troubles. There are especially many reindeer along the roads of Lapland.

Fasten your seat belts no matter where you are in the car. Penalty for violation - 70 EUR.

If the car is moving, do not forget to turn on the dipped headlights. Be careful in the fog - fogs are frequent and dense in southern Finland. Reduce your speed.

Do not drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or you may face a fine, arrest or more serious punishment. The allowed maximum alcohol in the driver's blood is 0.5 ppm.

There are always toilets on the track at gas stations, which, in fact, are universal service centers with a shop, catering, a toilet room and a childcare room. At gas stations you can also buy a good road map for 6-7 EUR.

Since the beginning of 2008, motorists have been limited in their access to free toilets on the sides of highways, as the number of cases of vandalism has increased. The toilet can now be accessed by texting the word “open” in Finnish to the short number on the toilet door, after which the door will automatically open.

Prices on the page are for March 2019.

The information is not unambiguous ... as I understand it, it used to be 0.5, then 0.3 ... then someone said here that they did 0 in general (0, as you know, does not happen in principle).
So all the same, what percentage of alcohol is allowed in Rhodes?
The problem is that the husband after a day trip late in the evening likes to drink beer / wine, and in the morning he drives again, what if there still remains 0.1-0.2? :(

Quote:
That is what I was reading.
But the one who said this could not give a link to a document confirming this fact.

Drinking, of course, is not worth it.
It's not about drinking a bottle of raki :)

But 2-3 bottles of beer is getting drunk or what? :)
Or a bottle of wine stretched for an hour and a half ...

Quote:

I didn’t quite understand ... where there are no police, but where are there? :)

We saw the police three times in Crete in 10 days.

Quote: in fact, it’s great to reduce your reaction speed ...
if I remember the formula correctly, then one and a half liters of beer for a female body weighing 60 kg will be:
4%*1500=60
60% of 60 kg = 36
60/36=1.66 ppm.
Mom dear...

Although, if you mean "from the evening" ...

Quote:
Well apparently your husband drinks beer, if in the morning 0.2. 0.2 is a state of real intoxication. I would not like to meet him on the road. Yes, and yet, even if this is residual intoxication, an insured event, God forbid, of course, they are recognized as not insured. And to pay, even if they drive into you, and you will be the injured party, all the same you will have to, for damage to the vehicle.
I don’t know how it is in Rhodes, but in Crete, in the event of an accident, they “purge”. Do not take risks, a bottle of wine in the evening for 2, by the morning does not leave anything in the exhale, but nothing more. And take a breathalyzer with you.

Quote:

Drink-drive limit:
The general limit is 0.50 gr/l in blood
(0.25 in breath). However, a limit of
0.20 gr/l in blood (0.10 in breath)
applies to the following:
l holders of a driving license for
period less than two years
drivers of trucks with more than
3.5 tons
bus drivers and taxi drivers
ambulance drivers
l ADR vehicles drivers
riders of mopeds or motorcycles
All drivers detected with more than
0.50 gr/l (in blood) alcohol will
receive penalty points.
Drivers detected with more than
0.80 gr/l (in blood) alcohol will have
their license withdrawn.

For all 0.25 in exhalation!
For pros, inexperienced drivers and motorcyclists 0.1 in exhalation!
0.5 - fine "frostbitten" with at least three zeros.
0.8 deprivation, but for us, they simply will not be allowed into Greece.

Quote: Don't fool people's heads! There are ten policemen on the whole island. And a person wants to drink a couple of bottles of beer in the evening - damn breathalyzer ...

Quote:
GrecoJu, this is a gram per liter of blood, and in the exhalation it is approximately 0.25 ppm (in Russia this gradation is used more often), which is why the confusion.
That is, 0.2 ppm, because exhalation devices rounded to tenths and 0.25 will show 0.3 and this is popandos !!!

Quote:
Yes, let at least the pancake eat, I don’t give a fuck. And if you have not met the cops, it does not mean that they are not there. They stand in the bushes with pipes and radars, for your information, every day. People like you with not foolish heads and catch, at the sign of 50, when you are 70 going. And it’s not stupid to drive with your nose either, especially our brother and sniff after an accident.

The transport police were seen only in the city of Rhodes itself: 2 policemen issued a ticket for improper parking. When they rode around the island for 3 days, not a single policeman was seen.
When at 6-30 in the morning we went by taxi to the airport, the car in front just made zigzags. Having overtaken it, we realized that there were 7-8 people sitting there. The taxi driver explained that it was drunken youth coming from the disco. And he said that there were no police on the road island.

Z.Y. This does not mean at all that it is possible and permissible to drink and drive.

Quote:

Well, in the evening, of course! Not driving ... What are you :)

Quote:

I didn’t quite understand .. for everyone - 0.25, and the pros and inexperienced - 0.1 ... and who are the pros and inexperienced? How to identify them :)

Quote:
I don't understand this tone. In the evening, drink wine or 2-3 bottles of beer on the terrace, will you eat it? For you, 1 bottle of beer is drunk as an insole, and 2-3 is "getting drunk"? Well you give...

Quote:
We went to Crete for 10 days. We met the police 3 times, but all three times at the national team consisting of 4-5 cars - apparently some kind of interception or prof. inspection.

Nobody was seen in the bushes. We went standard with a slight excess. There are no signs in the mountains, there is no one there, and there are no police :)

Quote:
I don't think anyone can argue with that :)
It's about how much you can drink in the evening in Rhodes so that you can safely drive in the morning :)

Quote:
A familiar Cretan called the police, they confirmed exactly 0.25 on exhalation, i.e. actually no more than 0.2. IMHO this is a glass of wine for a 90-kg man, if after 15 minutes driving. If in the evening, then about a bottle of wine for two.

Quote:
On rented cars, everyone is not a pro. Pros - taxis, trucks, buses. Inexperienced - experience up to 2 years.
As for the police on the roads, during a trip to Crete in 2011 I saw ambushes with radars in the bushes on the NND three times - Chania, Georgioupolis, Rethymno. Every time he was warned by oncoming cars.
A breathalyzer is a useful thing (I once had it myself), but it is expensive and requires expensive annual verification and adjustment. It's easier and cheaper not to drink if you're driving.

Quote:
Thank you, I understand :)

Only one moment is a little incomprehensible .. a glass of wine is 150-200 ml, and after 15 minutes you can drive.
A bottle of wine - 750 ml, i.e. 375 for each, i.e. 1-2 glasses. At the same time behind the wheel after 12 hours. Those. the second glass will disappear for 12 hours?

The husband weighs 100 kg, usually in the evening on vacation he drinks up to 3 bottles of beer or 2-3 glasses of wine, then dinner and breakfast in the morning. Behind the wheel, as a rule, after 12 hours. I thought it was all nonsense.

start tracking cheap tickets in advance - that is right now!

Probably every proud owner of a car and rights wants to ride around Europe with a breeze. You are dreaming?

We will certainly discuss the issues of gasoline prices, international rights and car rental at the "To Europe" project. Today's topic is the amount of alcohol allowed in the blood while driving in European countries.

Before I begin to share information with you on this matter, let me express my position: in my opinion, a normal responsible person behind the wheel has no right to drink at all. And in general, you can live without alcohol, live beautifully and have fun, so I am for a sober lifestyle, especially if you are responsible for the safe movement of your friends and family.

And what do European legislators think about this?
In most European countries, the allowed amount of alcohol while driving is 0.5 ppm: these are Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Portugal, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Kip and Germany. In Lithuania it is even tougher - 0.4 ppm. In my opinion, England, Ireland, Liechteinstein, Luxembourg and Malta show themselves to be the most irresponsible in this matter. There it is allowed to be behind the wheel with an indicator of 0.8 ppm.

Very responsible Europeans live in Poland, Norway and Sweden - where the allowed level of alcohol while driving is only 0.2 ppm. The fine for exceeding this indicator in Poland is up to 1200 Euros, and in Sweden the violator is waiting for 30 days in prison. Norway will take care of the isolation of a car drinker for 45 days. In Switzerland, for exceeding the established mark of 0.5 to 0.79 ppm, a fine of 775 euros and more awaits.

And the most automobile fellows with an acceptable blood alcohol level at the wheel of up to 0.0 (!!!) ppm are in Estonia, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. That is an absolute dry law for those who choose comfort behind the wheel. This is the correct national policy. I respect with all my heart! It is in this way that the state should educate its population in responsibility and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

For the young and brave readers of this project: up to 21 years in the vast majority of European countries it is forbidden to drink alcohol while driving at all! Penalties - a fine of 125 euros and a mark in the rights.

By the way, European traffic cops have a completely different logic and a different life. It will not be possible to agree with them, and if you begin to check this statement in practice, then adventures are provided to you. The consequences can be the most unpredictable, but what’s for sure, they will file a case against you and make a note in which database you need (we are talking about
