How to cook condensed milk in a jar

Condensed milk for filling waffles can be bought already caramelized, or you can cook condensed milk yourself in a jar.

Just a warning, take this seriously. It is advisable to pre-cook condensed milk, because this process takes quite a long time. So, how to cook condensed milk in a jar?

To do this, without opening a jar of condensed milk, put it in a saucepan. Fill with cold water to completely cover the container with condensed milk.

Bringing to a boil, cook condensed milk over low heat for at least 1.5 hours.

It is very important to ensure that the water in the pan does not boil away, otherwise the consequences can be very deplorable. And instead of tubes, condensed milk from an exploded can will end up on walls, furniture and in other most unexpected places.

By the way, you need to add hot water too, in order to avoid temperature differences.

After you have boiled condensed milk in a jar, keep in mind that caramelized condensed milk needs time to cool, due to the thickness of the product and the tightness of the dishes.

When making the filling for wafer rolls with condensed milk, remember that it is not advisable to mix hot condensed milk with butter, as water may rebound. As a result, the required consistency of the filling will not work, and the cream will flow out of the tubes.

Remove the butter for filling the wafer rolls from the refrigerator in advance. When the butter softens and the condensed milk (if you boiled it yourself) cools down, mix them until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
