Twix homemade cookie recipe. homemade twix

I want to present a recipe for Twitl Twix cookies with step-by-step photos of cooking at home. Not everyone knows that you can cook these insanely delicious cookies yourself, and it’s not at all difficult to do. At the same time, to taste, they turn out even tastier than purchased ones, if cooked from quality products. Do-it-yourself Twix bars can be safely given to little sweet tooth, because they do not contain any harmful additives.

From this amount of ingredients, I got a little more than 30 bars.

Bar Ingredients:

Dough:

  • butter - 80 grams;
  • granulated sugar - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • table salt - a pinch;
  • sour cream - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • egg - 1 piece;
  • flour - 200 grams.

Caramel:

  • condensed milk - 1 can (350 grams);
  • butter - 30 grams.

Glaze:

  • dark chocolate - 300 grams.

Recipe for Twix Bars

To prepare shortbread dough for future cookies, mix loose ingredients in a deep bowl: sifted flour, salt and granulated sugar. Add chopped chilled butter, which does not need to be taken out of the refrigerator in advance.

Mix all the ingredients well with your hands until you get flour crumbs.

Then beat in an egg and add sour cream.

Knead a soft dough that will not stick to your hands at all. The specified amount of flour is enough, so you do not need to hammer it heavily with flour and add more.

Divide the dough into two parts, and roll out a layer about 4 millimeters thick. Using a knife, cut off the rounded sides, forming a rectangular sheet of dough. Now it needs to be cut into equal strips. I made them 9 cm long and 2 cm wide. It is most convenient to cut them with a pizza cutter, measuring with a regular ruler.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay out the dough strips. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

While the cookies are baking prepare the caramel. Pour a jar of condensed milk into a saucepan or stewpan with a thick bottom, add butter and cook over low heat for 25-30 minutes until thickened. At the same time, it must be constantly stirred so that it does not burn or take pieces. I took Belarusian condensed milk, which is very thick even when raw. Therefore, I cooked it for only 20 minutes. During this time, it became quite thick, although it almost did not change its color. It will take a little more time for medium-quality condensed milk.

The finished caramel will become thick and may darken slightly. Be sure to keep in mind that the caramel will thicken as it cools, and therefore it is not necessary to cook it to the point where it is already difficult to mix.

Remove the prepared bar blanks from the oven and let cool slightly.

Using a teaspoon, spread the caramel in an even layer on the shortcrust pastry sticks. My caramel froze very quickly on cookies even at room temperature. If this does not happen, you just need to briefly transfer all the cookies on the baking sheet to the refrigerator.

To prepare the glaze, take high-quality dark chocolate and break it into pieces.

Melt the chocolate on the steam bath.

Dip each stick with hardened caramel into melted chocolate so that they are covered on each side with it.

And with the help of two forks, take out the bars, letting the excess chocolate drain and put them on a parchment laid on a tray or baking sheet.

1. Prepare the ingredients.
We only need yolks from chicken eggs, so we need to remove them. But before that, wash the eggs with soapy water to get rid of harmful bacteria that have accumulated on the shell. Then carefully break the egg with a knife and pour the protein into one cup, and the yolk into another.
Flour for making homemade twix should be used fresh and sifted, so we pick up a sieve and carefully sift a glass of flour through it.
2. Cooking sweet chopped shortbread dough.
So, we have a handful of sifted flour in a deep bowl. Add some salt and sugar to it.
And on a clean cutting board, lay out a piece of frozen butter and ruthlessly begin to chop it with a sharp knife into small pieces.
Then add flour with spices to the pieces of butter and continue to work with a knife. We should get a large crumb of dough. Add two egg yolks to it and mix well. Add 2 tablespoons of sour cream, and mix again. Check the dough - it should be thick, crumbly, heterogeneous and well molded.
3. Cool and bake the finished shortbread dough.
We line the baking dish with parchment paper, and evenly spread and distribute the dough on top of it, tamp it tightly, and put the form in the refrigerator. The dough (or rather the oil in it) should freeze in half an hour.
After that, we set the oven to warm up to 180 degrees, and send the form with the dough into it. Bake the dough until light golden brown for 15-20 minutes. We take out our shortbread biscuit from the mold and give it time to cool, but for now we will prepare caramel.

We also need a culinary spatula, with which you will constantly stir the boiled caramel for 20-30 minutes. When the condensed milk becomes thicker and acquires a light caramel color, you can remove the pan from the heat.
Quickly and carefully apply caramel to the surface of the sand cake, because it cools quickly and begins to thicken. We distribute the caramel evenly and proceed to the preparation of the glaze.
5. Cooking glaze for homemade twix.
You can rinse the pan in which we just cooked the caramel, since the chocolate must be melted either in a thick-walled dish or in a water bath.
Break the chocolate bar into pieces and put them in a dry and clean pan. Again we take a culinary spatula and stir the gradually melting chocolate for 1-3 minutes. Compared to the time it took to boil the caramel, try to get through those 3 minutes without distraction so the chocolate doesn't burn and the finished dish gets spoiled because of it.
When the chocolate has completely melted, pour it over the cake, then level the surface of the glaze, and put the twix bar in the refrigerator to harden for 3-5 hours.

For test:

  • egg yolks - 2 pcs.;
  • flour - 150 g;
  • salt - on the tip of a knife;
  • butter - 80 g;
  • sour cream - 1 tbsp. spoon;
  • sugar - 50 g.

For caramel:

Cooking

Cooking Twix at home. Let's start with sweet chopped dough. Pour the sifted flour with salt and sugar (it is better to replace with powdered sugar) into the bowl of a food processor. Add diced, well-chilled butter. Chop the flour and butter in a food processor until coarse crumbs.

Advice: if you don't have a kitchen helper, you can do it by hand on a cutting board with a large, heavy knife.

We introduce the yolks one by one, kneading each time. The second can be replaced with an extra spoon of sour cream. The finished dough should look like a thick crumbly mixture, while being easy to mold. If not, add a little more sour cream or water.

We cover the baking dish with parchment and pour the resulting dough crumbs on top. We tamp it tightly and pierce it in many places with a fork so that the cake does not swell during baking. We hide the form for half an hour in the refrigerator. After baking at a temperature of 180 degrees for about 20 minutes, until golden.

In the meantime, let's make caramel. Pour the condensed milk into a saucepan with a thick bottom and cook with the addition of oil over the smallest fire for 20-30 minutes, stirring all the time with a wooden spatula. When it thickens and acquires a caramel hue, remove from heat and immediately apply to the cooled shortbread cake. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the caramel will become too hard, and the undercooked one will spread.

Melt the chocolate in a water bath (part of the milk can be replaced with bitter) and apply on top of the caramel. We hide the homemade "Twix" in the refrigerator and make sure that no one encroaches on it for at least a couple of hours. Then cut into strips and pamper your loved ones.
