Tablets in dry soldering. Dry ration (IRP)

Today we will see what our soldiers eat in the field.
Pretty good diet.

We have: an individual diet (IRP), option 7.
I remind you that this is only one of the proposed soldering options, in others the equipment may be different.
I specially take pictures next to the box of matches so that you can estimate the dimensions

Manufactured by OAO "Leningradskoye" (Krasnodar Territory. It is a diversified structural production of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation), the main production is OAO "Gryazinsky Food Plant" (Lipetsk Region)

Now dry rations are produced in just such cardboard packages, covered with foil from the inside. I do not like this option, because. the box is less resistant to damage than the previously used plastic one. For example, in the variant under consideration, the handle broke very quickly, although I did not actively pull it. If you pull it out of a tightly stuffed duffel bag or backpack, it will come off. Also, after opening, it turned out that despite the external integrity of the box, a bag of sugar and a bag of jam were somehow damaged, as a result of which some of the cans and packages had to be wiped off from the above products. To top it off, one of the spoons included in the kit was almost broken in half. Either I was so unlucky, or the box is really afraid of squeezing.
Opened packaging

From the inside, a box is removed in which the contents of the solder are tightly packed.

Instructions for use

Meat with green peas and carrots

Beef stew

Buckwheat porridge with beef

Herring in oil

vegetable caviar

melted cheese

Serious application

There are 4 packs of biscuits in total (8 pieces each), two of them are made from wheat flour of the first grade, and two from wheat flour. Previously, biscuits in dry rations were made only from first grade flour.

Dry drink concentrate

Includes three tea bags

Now this is not burnt sugar with extract, as before, but quite a regular tea bag

Tea comes with two bags of apple jam

Sugar for three mugs of tea

The bag is completely paper, there is no protection against moisture, so you can’t carry it in reserve for a long time in the field: it will either tear or get wet. uncomfortable

New compared to earlier dry rations - ground black pepper and salt. I never wanted to pepper or salt dry rations, so I don’t see much point in them (salt, however, can be used for ordinary food), but spicy lovers will definitely be happy

What pepper, what salt, again in paper bags, which does not allow them to be stored in reserve in the field.

Multivitamin - 1 pc.

Hygiene items are represented by disinfectant wipes. Now there are two options - for the body and equipment and for cutlery. In the fields, in any way, they will not pay attention to the inscriptions, especially since the composition of the napkins is the same))

The notch that separates the wipes is poorly made, which is why when trying to separate them, one of the packages was opened. Gotta fix it

Includes 3 plain paper napkins

And as many as three spoons against one in earlier versions. There are four of them in the photo, because comes with cheese

The same spoon, which turned out to be broken in an outwardly absolutely whole box. Visible and traces of jam from a damaged bag

Can opener

Hunting matches and dry fuel. On the latter, traces of the same squeezed jam are visible

I open banks. Of course, they can also be heated when closed, but care must be taken that the jar does not explode due to overheating and then it is inconvenient to open a hot one. That's why I chose to open

A jar of vegetable caviar is opened easier - just pull the corner

A jar of melted cheese opens even more conveniently

open beef

Meat with green peas

Buckwheat

Herring in oil. It was inconvenient to open, because. the jar was slightly deformed and the oil immediately rushed out. It is better to pack in the same rigid jar as cheese

Whole flour biscuits

I start warming up.
I pull out the button, disconnecting the taganka and the container with the pills

I bring the taganok into working condition

If the tablet was removed from the container by simple pressure, then the grater, being made of a soft material, did not want to push through the package, as a result of which it had to be cut with a knife. flaw

The sulfur on the tablet, of course, ignited when struck on a grater, but the flame almost immediately died out, so I had to set it on fire with matches. Are they saving on sulfur?

Personal advice - if you are heating canned food, then put the taganok in the way as in the photo. And if you want to boil water in a mug, then turn over the taganok. Then the tablet will be directly under the mug and the flame will heat it, not the atmosphere;)

We light a hunting match

Things went

It seems to me, or does this dry fuel leave more "fume" after burnout than before?

Impressions from the process of eating.
1. Spoons suck. Firstly, it is scary to press it, the feeling that it is about to break. Secondly, who came up with the idea of making her sharp edges? Almost every time after sending the next portion to the mouth, the inner surface of the lips hurt, which was scraped by the spoon. It's good that the spoon is now more spacious than in the previous rations, but make it a little stronger and round off the ends.
2. Braised beef. I am glad that the taste of meat, which disappeared in previous years, returned to her again.
3. Buckwheat porridge. Nothing has changed, as it was good, and remained.
4. Meat with green peas. I’m just not a fan of such dishes, so it didn’t make a special impression on me, but it will go with a bang in the fields. A very satisfying thing, by the way.
5. Herring. Ordinary canned fish.
6. Vegetable caviar. Again, not a big fan of such dishes, so I preferred that they just put tomato sauce. But again, in the fields will go for a sweet soul.
7. Processed cheese. Just melted cheese.
8. Jam. Goes very well with biscuits. Minus - there is no notch on the package for tearing. As a result, you have to tear your teeth.

9. Dry drink concentrate. If you drank "Jupi" or "Invite", then you know what it looks like. In the field, a very favorite drink

10. Biscuits. Those made from flour of the first grade are normal, wallpaper ones are somehow not very good, apparently because I don’t eat bran products. Unusual.
11. Tea. Finally, a regular sachet, not an extract with sugar.

Well, IRP-7 is a good dry ration, which needs to be slightly improved in terms of packaging and quality of components. It is a pity that there are no sweets, they would not interfere at all.

I recommend that you look through all my entries under the "dry ration" tag, you can see the testing of the IRP-B-1 soldering and communication with one of the manufacturers of dry rations. By the way, some of my comments, as we see, are taken into account;).

Nutrition in the army is an eternal and inexhaustible topic, passed down from generation to generation. “War is war, but lunch is on schedule” is perhaps the most common phrase in the ranks of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Indeed, the main physical need of any person is food, but in the army the topic of food is more relevant than anywhere else.

Today we will talk not just about dishes from the soldiers' canteen, but about the specialized IRP "Army of Russia". For whom is the daily set of food intended, what does it include and is it possible to purchase such an outlandish meal for a civilian.

How the list of products for soldering is formed

In the theoretical part, it means that an individual diet (IRP), also known as dry rations, is a balanced meal complex intended for consumption by an adult at the rate of one day. Such a set is intended for military personnel performing their duty in the field, where there is no possibility of preparing civilized food, as well as for citizens who find themselves in an extreme situation, for example, evacuation due to a natural disaster.

In fact, this is true, because as of the current year, the dry rations issued to the Russian military are recognized as one of the best in the world.

However, you should not immediately flatter yourself and excite the imagination - the taste of food here is definitely not in the decisive criteria. The main aspect is the balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, as well as minerals and vitamins, and it is observed in the IRP "Army of Russia" in the best way. The taste qualities of products play an insignificant role, not only because the soldier must successfully endure all the hardships and hardships, but also because of the strict quality and freshness requirements that food from rations must have.

For example, there is a whole list of products that are excluded from being included in the IRP due to some features:

  • any perishable products (raw dairy, rich and others), for the storage of which certain conditions are required;
  • products containing alcohol;
  • products with a large amount of salt and spices in the composition;
  • coffee (in its natural form);
  • cream-based confectionery;
  • raw vegetables, as well as fruits in any form, with the exception of applesauce;
  • any products that have not passed laboratory tests and studies;
  • food products that are difficult for the body to assimilate, as well as capable of causing eating disorders.

Find out: Is it possible to serve in the army with dual citizenship

It is easy to see that the list is impressive, but very logical. After all, dry rations are needed fresh and ready for use not only in the field, the food service must have a certain supply of IRP, the volume of which can hardly be predicted with great accuracy.

Due to the reasons stated, the shelf life of the ration is set at around 24 months. Therefore, it is very difficult to choose the optimal ingredients for IRP, taking into account the protein-carbohydrate composition, as well as all the circumstances of storage. This is done by a whole research institute with laboratories. By the way, due to the needs of the human body in civilized food, it is not allowed to use rations as the main source of nutrition for more than 7 days in a row.

Dry ration composition

And yet, despite the strict requirements for the quality and shelf life of products, the Russian Army dry pack contains quite tolerable and edible names. The composition of the IRP approved for the current year:

  • buckwheat porridge with beef;
  • meatballs;
  • stewed meat with vegetables;
  • canned bacon;
  • vegetable stew;
  • applesauce;
  • liver pate;
  • minced sausage;
  • processed cheese;
  • soluble fruit juices;
  • jam from apples;
  • chocolate;
  • army biscuits 2 types;
  • seasonings and spices;
  • tea bags and instant coffee;
  • sugar;
  • plastic items (3 spoons and a knife);
  • dry alcohol tablets, matches;
  • vitamin dragee;
  • chewing gum "Stimorol".

The main supplier of food in the IRP "Army of Russia" is the firm "Ruscon". As we can see, the food from the army dry ration is quite diverse: there are not only hearty canned food, but also cereals, as well as peculiar desserts (there was even a place for chewing gum).

Indeed, a complete diet for an adult for a day. You can correctly distribute meals by dividing the set into components for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Surely, when reading, someone thought about the wrong topic: “Is my gastronomic so diverse in conditions when there is absolutely everything in the store across the street?”. The total calorie content of the dishes contained in the ration is about 3500 Kcal, this amount was obtained taking into account the workload of soldiers in the field.

Is the IRP intended only for the military

In general, theoretically, the IRP is a product that can only be obtained by military personnel, as well as citizens who involuntarily find themselves in conditions far from home. Nevertheless, today such a set can be purchased by anyone.

No time to explain. There are a lot of photos with the filling of this dry ration No. 1. Voentorg is power! IRP №1

  • Heating:

When you want to heat up food, it is still better to put it on a separate camp pan, knead it, and in the case of rice and chicken, it is better to add a little water altogether, because the rice is a little hard. And in the package you won’t heat it up normally, because. everything will burn at the bottom, and you will break this plastic spoon.

  • Forceps:

If you are already heating up in the bowl in which the food lies, think in advance how you will remove it from the fire, because. she will be very hot. Come up with some tongs or remove with a glove. And also, before putting on fire, slightly open the foil.

  • Spoons:

Leave one spoon for applesauce, adaptafine and to stir sugar in tea, coffee. The other two are for meat dishes.

  • Cup:

There is no cup in the set!)) In what will you brew tea and stir the adapter? Well, you understand what I mean, a cup is required!

  • Product safety:

Products such as sugar, salt, pepper, coffee, tea, cream, disinfectant tablets, vitamins, and paper napkins with matches - put in a separate bag. Because they are all in paper packaging, which will get wet and the contents will become unusable if, under the pressure of other things, for example, a jam package bursts.

  • Packaging Usage:

As an option, in order to pour water into it, which needs to be disinfected. Therefore, try not to damage it when opening it.

  • Matches:

Although they are water and wind resistant, no one has yet canceled clumsy hands. Don't just rely on them. Be sure to bring plenty of matches or a lighter. And the best option would be FLIGHT. This is a magnesium bar and ignition in the form of a notched plate from which a spark is cut. Such a thing can last for several years and will not deteriorate from water in any way. Just before you take on a real hike, you will have to practice a little in making fire with the help of a flint and flint.

  • Win-win ignition:

Do you understand that nature is not always on your side?)) Now the sun, and then the rain. The brushwood is all wet. Therefore, pre-make blanks from flammable material at home. Eg:

We need: cotton wool, combustible mixture, waterproof bag, (wax as an option).

Recipe: we dip the cotton wool with a combustible mixture for ignition, (as an option, soak it with wax - it will burn longer), put it in a bag. And voila! Regardless of the weather conditions, you will have flammable material at hand. And of course, follow the safety measures when making a fire!

Instructions for the use of an individual diet, the distribution of products for meals.

The combat effectiveness of each individual fighter depends on his moral and volitional qualities, skills in handling weapons and military equipment, as well as physical fitness. However, the supply of military personnel is no less important - you can’t fight much on an empty stomach. Not only the physical condition of a soldier, but also his fighting spirit depends on food at the front line.

The ideal way to feed a soldier is fresh, hot multi-course meals prepared in the field kitchen. However, this is not always possible, and in this case, the army provides dry rations or an individual ration (IRP), which is what it is called officially. Suhpay is a set of products designed to feed military personnel in cases where it is not possible to prepare fresh hot food. In other words, sukhpai is food for field conditions.

Most often, dry rations are associated with military service, but this is rather a tribute to habit. Modern IRPs are nutritious, tasty and prepared according to the recommendations of nutritionists. Dry rations can be easily bought on the open market, they are popular with tourists, fishermen, hunters, climbers - in a word, with those categories of civilians who spend a lot of time away from civilization.

Dry rations can be designed for one meal or for a person to eat for one day. Currently, the issue of nutrition of fighters is given a lot of attention in any army. RPIs are developed on the basis of serious scientific research and tests. Dry rations of the Russian army are no exception. Suhpay is perfectly balanced in terms of protein, fat and carbohydrate content, and also has the necessary calorie content. It is calculated based on the energy consumption of a soldier for a specific situation. For example, dry ration "mountain" has a higher calorie content compared to the usual army IRP.

By the way, according to Russian standards, uninterrupted meals for the personnel of the IRP should not exceed seven days.

Requirements for the IRP

An individual diet must meet rather stringent requirements, first of all, this applies to the composition of the products that are included in the IRP. Dry rations should:

  • Long stored. That is, it should not include products that quickly deteriorate: mayonnaise, fresh fruit, raw meat, etc.
  • Contain foods that are ready to eat or that can be prepared quickly and easily.
  • Be easily digestible. That is, the composition of the IRP should include products that do not cause digestive disorders or allergies.
  • Have convenient and reliable packaging, which, even in the field, sufficiently protected the products from water, dirt, and mechanical damage. In addition, the packaging should be convenient for the fighter to eat.
  • Have a balanced nutritional composition and fully meet the needs of a person in calories and essential nutrients and vitamins.

These are the basic requirements for a modern IRP in any army, in addition, today much attention is paid to the taste of dry rations.

The usual composition of the IRP and products prohibited from inclusion

Typically, dry rations include the following foods:

  • Canned food: stew, condensed milk, canned cereals, stew.
  • Freeze-dried or dried foods: instant soups or borscht, dried fruits, milk powder, instant coffee, juices.
  • Crackers, crackers or biscuits.
  • Vitamins and nutritional supplements (spices, salt, sugar).

In addition to products, dry rations should include a disposable dishes, napkins, food warmers and water disinfectants. As a rule, water is not included in the composition of the IRP. Usually used for reheating food dry fuel and various burners the simplest design. In the past, cigarettes and condoms were also included in some armies' dry rations, but this practice has long since been abandoned. As a rule, the products included in dry rations can also be consumed cold, but in this case they will not be so tasty and are worse absorbed by the body.

Dry rations should not include:

  • Any perishable products that require special storage conditions (temperature, humidity level, etc.).
  • Products containing alcohol, a large amount of spices, natural coffee, confectionery and cooking fats, edible salt with a content of more than 0.8%, most preservatives.
  • Confectionery with a high content of cocoa or containing cream fillers.
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Any food, the quality and safety of which is not confirmed by laboratory tests.

A bit of history

The issue of food supply for the army during a war or a campaign was a real "headache" for military leaders of all eras and peoples. Various methods have long been practiced for preparing concentrated, nutritious food that can be stored for a long time.

Nomadic peoples placed thinly sliced pieces of meat under the saddle - it was very quickly salted out by horse sweat and turned into a nutritious product of long-term storage. The Mongols dried and ground the meat and bones of animals, obtaining from them an analogue of modern bouillon cubes. From them it was possible to quickly prepare a hot broth or stew. The Aztecs made balls from dried cocoa beans. Medieval Japanese ninja warriors also had special nutritional balls.

A real revolution in the provision of the army with provisions occurred in 1795, after the invention of a method for preserving food. It was invented by the French chef Apper, for which he was awarded a gold medal and a large cash prize by Napoleon.

In 1810, the Englishman Durand began making canned food for the Royal Navy. To do this, he made tin cans tinned with tin.

In the Red Army, the first dry ration appeared just before the start of World War II, in the spring of 1941. The reason for this innovation was the dramatic experience of the Soviet-Finnish war, during which the Red Army faced serious problems related to the provision of food for military personnel in combat conditions.

The winter war showed that it is by no means always possible to bring food to the troops on a regular and timely basis, not to mention hot meals. And this problem was so serious that it was discussed at the level of the Central Committee and the General Staff.

The food supply service of the Red Army was tasked with developing for the army such a set of food products that would have a small weight and volume (that is, could be carried by each soldier), be stored for a long time in any conditions (heat, cold) and did not require long preparation and processing.

Allowance for dry rations in the Red Army was officially adopted on May 15, 1941, various concentrates became the basis of the IRP, which could be quickly prepared by adding boiling water to them. It should be noted that these concentrates were not intended for the individual nutrition of a fighter, more often they were issued to small units forced to act autonomously without the supply of food. Although, of course, concentrates could be issued to each fighter separately. In addition, such food still required some cooking operations - this is another difference from the current IRP.

At the same time, the daily rations for one serviceman were approved in dry rations, which, in addition to concentrates, also included rye crackers (600 g), semi-smoked sausage (100 g) or canned meat (113 g), dried or smoked roach (150 g ), or feta cheese (150 gr). In addition, the ration included sugar, tea and salt. According to these standards, each fighter was supposed to have 75 grams of concentrate soup and 200 grams of porridge from the concentrate for a day.

In the post-war USSR, the main emphasis in the soldier's field nutrition was on canned food. There were several types of IRP, their composition was prepared based on the loads experienced by the fighters. The mountain ration was considered very nutritious (it included chocolate and bacon), but the infantry ate much more modestly. In the 80s, the dry ration of a soldier of the Soviet army included a can of canned meat (250 g), two cans of canned meat and vegetables (usually it was rice or buckwheat with meat), crackers or biscuits (300-500 g), a tea bag tea leaves and sugar. With the general packaging of dry rations in the USSR, they also didn’t particularly “bother”: at best, the products were in a cardboard box, but most often they were given out to the fighter in bulk. The calorie content of Soviet rations ranged from 3100 to 3350 kcal.

The last time changes were made to the dry ration of a Soviet soldier were made in 1990 (order No. 445). After that, the life of a soldier became a little sweeter: condensed milk and canned juice were added to the sukhpai.

Individual diet of the Russian army

After the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the USSR, the logistics specialists of the Russian army were faced with the task of developing a new dry ration to provide military personnel in the field. The Soviet dry rations in canned food not only did not correspond to the new realities of modern warfare, but simply looked like a mockery against the backdrop of the Western armies flashing on the IRP TV.

In the mid-90s, an individual diet was developed for the Russian army: it was prepared in two varieties at once: IRP-B (combat) and IRP-P (everyday). The composition of these dry rations was officially regulated by the order of the Minister of Defense of July 24, 2000.

IRP-B contains 3590 kcal, and IRP-P - 3360 kcal.

Compared to the Soviet dry pay, the new IRPs looked like aliens from another planet. They significantly surpassed their Soviet counterparts in all respects: the range of products, taste, and convenience of packaging. Canned fish, dry drinks, dried fruits, tea, milk, instant coffee were added to the stew and canned porridge.

Both diets are made in several versions, each of which contains its own range of products. Therefore, they do not "get bored" with the soldiers. New dry rations received modern plastic packaging, convenient and airtight. She had a handle with which the dry ration could be easily fixed on equipment or "armor". Means for heating food, matches resistant to wind and moisture, napkins, plastic spoons and knife. The package was divided into three compartments, each of which contained a set of products for breakfast, lunch and dinner. IRP-B is not too different from IRP-P, the latter is slightly smaller in weight and calorie content.

For reconnaissance and special forces, a small-sized dry ration containing products with a higher calorie content was developed.

In 2014, at the initiative of the Minister of Defense Shoigu, the design of the IRP was changed; since 2015, the same packaging has been introduced for all army dry rations.

Currently, there is a large list of different types of dry rations, each of which is designed for special occasions:

The most common of the above is dry pay IRP-P.

Dry rations of foreign armies

Dry rations of different armies of the world are developed according to similar principles, they are tasty and high in calories. Usually they bear a well-marked imprint of the national cuisine and culinary preferences of the people. For example, the ration of the South Korean army contains a large amount of rice and spicy sauerkraut. In the Scandinavian countries, soldiers are given fish with sour cream, the German army dry pack contains a lot of meat, and the Polish one contains pies and canned meat.

One of the most famous dry rations is the US Army RRP. It's called MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). This pack has 24 menu options and is packaged in sand-coloured plastic with the menu number and its main course written on it. The package is designed for one meal. In addition to products, the MRE package includes instant tea or coffee, as well as powdered lemonade. To warm up food, each set has a package with a chemical warmer, it also contains disposable spoons, matches, toilet paper and wet wipes. Energy value -1300 kcal.

In addition to MRE, the US Army has other types of dry rations:

An Italian dry ration includes 50 ml of 40% alcohol and a warmer, pasta, bean soup, instant coffee with cream, canned turkey, rice salad, fruit salad or chocolate muesli.

French dry ration will satisfy the most spoiled gourmet: reindeer pate, cold cuts, Creole pork, cream pudding, powdered drink, muesli, coffee and caramel. There are sets with beef dumplings and salmon pate.

The Germans are also not averse to eating well. Their individual diet includes: liver sausage, rye bread, goulash with potatoes, biscuits, an assortment of jams and exotic juice in powder form.

Polish dry rations are designed for two meals, they contain the following products: two cans of meat or paste (meat or cheese), two bags of hard crackers, condensed milk, two bags of instant coffee, a tea bag, sugar, a vitamin C tablet, chewing gum, matches, paper towels.

The specialists responsible for the development of the IRP need to calculate not only the calorie content of the set, but also many other parameters.
