Let's send the lard to the microwave to melt - we need it in liquid form. In a small bowl, mix sugar with yeast. Let the milk warm slightly (to body temperature). Pour a dry mixture of sugar and yeast with a small amount of milk, mix and leave alone. Pour salt into the rest of the milk along with semolina and mix well.

Combine the milk and yeast mixtures, pour the melted lard into the same place.

Now we will gradually sift and introduce flour into the resulting liquid mass in small portions, constantly stirring.

As a result, we knead the yeast dough, which we should get soft, but not sticky. We put it in a saucepan, close the lid and, wrapping it in a towel, hide it in heat - let it rise.

After about 50 minutes, our dough will slightly increase in volume (doubling), punch it down and put it back in heat to rise again.

When it rises again, having increased by at least twice, we proceed to the formation of braids. On a floured cutting board, divide the dough in half. Cut each half into 3 equal pieces.

We roll them into bundles of the same length and connect the ends, but only on one side. Weave the bundles in the form of a pigtail.
