Classic Greek Salad one of the best salads ever. The composition of the Greek salad includes a set of fresh vegetables and herbs, as well as olives and feta cheese, (fetaxa) or cheese. Dressing for Greek salad serves olive oil (preferably first cold pressed), lemon juice, salt, spices.

Salad always turns out colorful and noticeably refreshes the table. The combination of light and colorful ingredients is very harmonious. Greek Salad is perfect for any occasion., and especially for the New Year, because it is in winter that you want something fresh.Made from fresh vegetables, this salad will bring a touch of freshness to both the dinner table and the festive banquet!

Classic Greek Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Cucumbers (medium size) - 2 pieces;
  • Cherry tomatoes - 10 pieces;
  • Olives (pitted) - 80 grams;
  • Fetax cheese, (feta or cheese) - 200 grams;
  • Red bell pepper - 1 piece;
  • Red onion - 1 onion;
  • Lettuce leaves - 1 bunch;

For sauce:

  • Olive oil - 5 tbsp. spoons;
  • Lemon - 1 piece;
  • Salt, pepper - to taste.

Preparing the salad:

First of all, all vegetables will need to be washed and dried. Clean and dried vegetables will need to be cut into large pieces.

Step 1. Cut cherry tomatoes into halves.

1. Cherry tomatoes cut in half

Step 2 Cut off the ends of the cucumbers on both sides. Cut into quarters and cut into large triangles. If the peel on cucumbers is too hard, then peel it. I have cucumbers with thin skins, so I use unpeeled cucumbers.

2. We cut cucumbers coarsely

Step 3 We clean the sweet red pepper from seeds and stalk. Cut into large strips and cut into cubes.

3. Red bell pepper cut into cubes

Step 4 Peel the red onion and cut into thin half rings. You can also cut into cubes if you wish.

Red onions are sweeter and more tender than onions, so red onions are recommended for the recipe. But in my case, I did not find red onions, so I used onions. To remove the bitterness from the onion, you need to pour boiling water over it and let the liquid drain. The variant with white onions turned out to be very tasty too!

4. Onion cut into half rings

Step 5 Feta cheese is an integral ingredient that is part of the "Greek" salad. It is a soft and salty cheese made from goat's or sheep's milk. Similar in texture and taste to cheese. In my salad, I used fetax cheese - it is similar to feta, only less crumbly. Regardless of which cheese you choose, it is placed in the salad in the form of cubes.

5. We cut the cheese into cubes

Sauce preparation:

We will prepare the sauce from olive oil and lemon juice. You will also need salt and black pepper.

Step 1. Cut the lemon into two halves. We will squeeze juice from one, and use the other at your discretion.

1. Olive oil and lemon

Step 2 Pour oil (5 tablespoons) into a bowl and squeeze lemon juice (2 tablespoons), mix, salt and pepper to taste.

2. Squeeze juice from half a lemon

Assembling the salad:

Step 1. Arrange the lettuce leaves on a large flat dish. Lettuce leaves must be washed and dried in advance.

1. Lay out the bottom of the dish with lettuce leaves

Step 2 Separately, in a bowl, mix tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, onions. Season the vegetables with the sauce and mix.

2. Mix vegetables and season with sauce

Step 3 On a dish covered with lettuce leaves, lay out a slide of vegetables from a bowl. Top with cheese and whole pitted olives. (For reference. Of course, it is more convenient to use olives that are sold already with the pits taken out, but it is more useful to take whole ones. In such olives, the salt content is much less, and there are more nutrients).

Lay out the cheese and olives

"Greek" salad according to the classic recipe ready! Serve it to the table.

Great( 37 ) Badly( 4 )

How many salads do you know that are prepared very quickly and easily, and almost everyone likes the taste of the finished dish? So, regardless of your answer, I want to say that Greek salad is one of them. It is prepared easily, quickly and with relatively low financial costs.

Greek salad can be prepared for the holidays and on weekdays, it never gets bored, and the plates with it are empty before our eyes. Moreover, there are so many cooking options that you can cook this salad at least every day. In addition, components that are not provided for in the original recipe are often added to this salad.

And so that you are convinced of the veracity of the above, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with several classic recipes for this inherently light snack. We will look at different recipes with different dressings. In terms of time, it will take you about 10 minutes to prepare a salad according to any of the recipes below (give or take 5 minutes).

Greek salad with croutons and chicken

This recipe for Greek salad will appeal to chicken lovers, because it will be present in the composition. It should not be in the original, but we will still add the breast of this bird. For a light snack, this is the best cooking option.

Ingredients:

  • chicken fillet (breast) - 120 gr.
  • pitted olives - 70 gr.
  • onion - 0.5 pcs.
  • cucumbers - 2 pcs.
  • sweet pepper - 1 pc.
  • tomatoes - 2 pcs.
  • green salad - 5 leaves
  • olive oil - 3 tbsp.
  • Feta cheese - 100 gr.
  • bread - 5 slices
  • salt, Provence herbs - to taste

Cooking:

1. Boil the chicken breast until cooked for no more than 15 minutes.

Alternatively, the raw breast can be first cut into cubes and then fried in vegetable oil. Thus, the salad will turn out more satisfying.

Then cut it into cubes and set aside.

2. Cut off the crusts from the bread slices. The pulp is cut into cubes.

Fry them in vegetable oil, or dry them a little in the oven.

3. Lettuce leaves are thoroughly washed and dried. Arrange the leaves on a serving plate.

In general, Greek salad is always best done in portions.

4. Cucumbers and tomatoes are also cut and laid on top of the salad.

5. Next, lay the bell pepper, previously peeled, washed and cut into cubes.

6. Thinly chop the onion and send it to a plate with vegetables.

7. Add a little salt, and then lay out the chicken meat.

9. Now we need to cut the feta or Fetax cheese into a small cube. Then we lay it on top of the chopped vegetables.

After slicing, do not put the feta into the water. Because her edges are washed and she becomes ugly.

10. Top with croutons and sprinkle with a little olive oil.

11. At the end, sprinkle the finished salad with a mixture of Provence herbs or oregano.

Here's the wrong recipe. Try to cook it and, perhaps, it is in this variation that you will like it more than cooked according to the original recipe. Bon appetit!

Classic Greek salad with cheese and olives

Well, now, as I promised, a recipe with cheese. Not always and not everyone has feta or fetax in the refrigerator. And what to do? Use bryndza. In fact, the recipe is almost the same as the previous ones, with only minor changes. We will prepare it very quickly, in just 7 steps.

Ingredients:

  • medium-sized tomatoes - 3 pcs.
  • cucumbers - 2 pcs.
  • colored bell pepper - 2 pcs.
  • lettuce
  • cheese - 130 gr.
  • dill
  • olives and olives
  • olive oil - 4 tbsp.

for refueling:

  • balsamic vinegar - 150 ml.
  • sugar - 2 tbsp.

Cooking:

Step 1. Cut all vegetables into large slices. Tomatoes, medium size, cut into 6 pieces.

Trim the ends off the cucumbers. Cut in half lengthwise, and then into triangles of the same size.

Peppers can be cut arbitrarily or, like cucumbers, into corners.

Step 2. Let's prepare a salad mix. To do this, take different lettuce leaves, remove the stalks and separate the leaves from the stems.

Step 3. Cut the cheese. We will cut it into large beautiful triangles of the same size and put it on a plate.

Step 4. Let's make the balsamic vinegar cream. Pour vinegar into a saucepan, add sugar and bring to a boil. Evaporate our mixture 2 times. The result should be a sweet and sour sticky mass.

Step 5. Finely chop the washed dill, and leave a few branches for decoration.

Step 6. It's time to put all the ingredients on a plate. First, we have a salad mix, laid out around the perimeter of the entire dish. Around it are tomato slices.

Then peppers and cucumbers.

Now it's time for the bryndza. Lay it on its side on top of the vegetables.

We lay olives and black olives all over the surface.

To make the olives shiny, you need to grease them a little with vegetable oil. Thus, they do not lose moisture, do not wrinkle and remain in a suitable, beautiful form for a long time.

Pepper a little with coarsely ground pepper and sprinkle with chopped dill, and lay out whole branches in any form.

Step 7. The final step is salad dressing. First, drizzle the finished salad with a little good olive oil.

And now, when our balsamic cream has cooled down, pour it over the Greek salad.

Here is such a sunny, beautiful and very tasty Greek salad recipe, for the preparation of which we needed to take only 7 steps. Cook with pleasure and treat your guests with this wonderful and healthy dish. Bon appetit!

Salad "Greek" with croutons in a classic version

One of my favorite Greek salad recipes that will look great on any holiday table is presented below. Fragrant seasonings will make the finished Greek salad very fragrant and tasty. Try and enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • loaf - 0.5 pcs.
  • tomatoes - 5 pcs.
  • cucumbers - 3 pcs.
  • sweet pepper - 2 pcs.
  • onion - 1 pc.
  • lemon - 0.5 pcs.
  • olive oil - 7 tbsp.
  • feta - 250 gr.
  • greens - to taste
  • salt, pepper - to taste
  • dried oregano - to taste
  • olives - 25 pcs.

Cooking:

1. First of all, let's cook crackers. To do this, cut off the crust from the loaf, and tear the flesh into small pieces.

If the bread is "yesterday's", then it can be cut into small identical cubes

We spread them on a baking sheet, sprinkle a little oil and send them to a preheated oven for 10 minutes.

2. Remove the finished crackers from the oven and cool. In the meantime, let's move on to the vegetables.

3. Cut the tomatoes into medium-sized slices.

4. Bulgarian pepper can be cut into squares or strips. And you can do this and that.

5. Cut the washed cucumbers into "crescents", 0.5 cm thick.

6. Peel the onion, wash and cut into half rings.

Advice! If the onion is bitter, then it must be doused with boiling water. In general, it is better to use red onions for salads - it is sweeter and tastier.

7. Carefully cut the feta. Since it is very soft, the knife must be periodically moistened with water so that the feta does not crumble.

8. We chop the greens with a knife. If you don't like it, then you can do without it. If you're adding lettuce leaves, it's best to tear them up with your hands.

9. In a bowl, mix the juice of half a lemon, salt, pepper, oil and oregano.

10. Put vegetables, cheese and greens in a salad bowl. Then add the olives, drizzle with our lemon dressing and mix gently.

11. Before serving, sprinkle the finished salad with crackers.
