Pampering a baby with sweets is not only an opportunity to expand the horizons of taste, but also a way of education - a measure to encourage a child and even one of the pleasant ways to improve health.

What is dessert

Dessert(from French desservir - "to clear the table") - the final dish of the table, to get a pleasant taste sensation at the end of lunch or dinner, usually sweet delicacies. As a rule, the dessert is sweet (for example, cake or ice cream), but there are also unsweetened desserts made from fruits, nuts, cheeses, unsweetened confectionery.

Desserts are mostly sweet and are a source of so-called "fast" carbohydrates - glucose and fructose, which "nourish" the brain, stimulate the production of endorphins (pleasure hormones) and cheer up the baby. Even “little kids” and “whims” are unlikely to refuse to taste a delicious and beautifully decorated delicacy.

Fruits included in the dessert are a source of carbohydrates - glucose, fructose or maltose, as well as vitamins and minerals, food organic acids. In addition, desserts are rich in essential oils, tannins, fiber (dietary fiber), pectin.

Sweets and baked goods are less useful, primarily because they contain a lot of sugar. Up to 1 year, sugar is not recommended for use in the diet of a child, after this age, you can add no more than 30 g of sugar per day for children 1–1.5 years old and 40–45 g for babies from 1.5 to 3 years old. Until the age of 3, a child should not be offered chocolate and desserts based on it, fatty cakes with cream and margarine, with dyes and flavors. It is permissible to use jams, jams, marmalade, marshmallows, honey in desserts (from 2 years old, if there is no allergy).

Desserts are given after the main meal - at lunch or dinner, in small quantities and taking into account the age of the child. Up to 1 year, fruits are suitable as a dessert, after 1 year it can be fruits with dairy products, and after 2 years pastries also join. You should not give desserts in between meals, they are sweet and can kill the appetite for a long time.

First year of life

For children of the first year of life, the choice of desserts is limited - usually these are various fruit purees or mixtures with dairy products. Baby's first fruits should be local (grow in the area where you live), soft in color, and foods that cause fermentation in the intestines (for example, grapes, pears, apples, plums, peaches) should be avoided.

After 1 year, the number of options for desserts expands - babies usually already have a sufficient number of teeth and can eat desserts cut into pieces. The range of products from which desserts can be prepared is also expanding - berries and exotic fruits appear (if the child does not have allergies), cream, honey, pastries.

However, when choosing desserts, you need to take into account the health of the baby - if he is allergic, then citrus fruits, strawberries, raspberries, honey and bright fruits should be postponed until the age of 3 years. If a child is overweight, cream, bananas, pastries should be excluded from his desserts, as they are sources of a large amount of carbohydrates and calories. For constipation, fruits rich in fiber are useful - kiwi, plums, peaches and vegetables with a peel. With an unstable stool, desserts with cereals (rice, semolina), delicate vegetables that are low in fiber (for example, zucchini, cauliflower) and pears are useful.

Healthy desserts for kids

The most important thing in children's desserts is the composition of the products and their quality. After all, desserts are a source of carbohydrates: glucose, maltose, fructose, as well as vitamins and nutrients. How to prepare a dessert that is not only delicious, but also healthy? Of course, various fruit salads, smoothie desserts, frozen juice and fruit and berry smoothies are considered the most healthy desserts. Dessert recipes at home often consist only of healthy products.

For example, baked apples with honey and candied fruits or caramelized persimmons with mascarpone cream will be very popular with children. Among the healthy desserts for children, muesli bars can also be noted, which not only have excellent taste characteristics, but also enrich the child's body with useful substances.

Do not forget about children's holidays, when the role of desserts for children is very large. By the way, the interesting design of the dishes and the table will delight your child and make his holiday even more colorful. Generously poured multi-colored dragees on the cake will already create a festive atmosphere. You can draw funny muzzles on cakes with cream, pour cupcakes with bright cream, and decorate the cake with bright and expressive mastic figures. Such a holiday will be remembered not only by your child, but also by his friends.

Desserts prepared at home always differ in their taste from purchased ones. That is why it is worth spending time on hand-made desserts for the festive table. Among them should be any cake that your family likes. The only advice: do not experiment with new recipes on a holiday. It's better not to take risks and cook what you do well and spend more time on bright decor. In addition, it is impossible to imagine a children's table without all kinds of cupcakes, ice cream and, of course, sweets.

Fast food desserts.

A modern housewife does not always have enough time for dessert, because first of all you need to prepare lunch dishes. That is why cooked desserts are often associated with weekends or holidays, when you can spend several hours baking a cake or making meringues. However, there are many homemade dessert recipes that do not even involve cooking. You can completely do without the oven, for the preparation of many desserts: salads, jellies, cocktails, smoothies. And how appetizing looks ice cream with berries and fruits, seasoned with chocolate topping! The preparation of such desserts will not take you even a few minutes. So with the help of a blender, you can quickly make fruit puree, smoothie or cocktail. Banana puree will appeal to many children, because this dessert has a lot of variations. Puree can be supplemented with nuts, berries, chocolate chips and honey. Dessert rolls with berries and fruits look spectacular, such a dish will cause a lot of admiration and will become a favorite dessert for children.

A fruit “barbecue” in chocolate looks beautiful and appropriate even on the festive table. Among the recipes for desserts prepared at home, this is one of the most desired dishes. Even kids can master the cooking process!

Of course, simple desserts cannot replace a puff cake or cream cake. If the question does not leave you: how to prepare a dessert is more laborious, but there is not enough time and effort. Then pay attention to the recipes for cakes without baking. Such dishes, despite their simplicity, have excellent taste characteristics. And they will become even tastier if you add more fruits and berries.
