To avoid cracking the shell, it is better to get the eggs out of the refrigerator a couple of hours before cooking.

So when cooking there will be no strong temperature drop, and the shell will remain intact.

You can also add salt at a ratio of 2 cups of water to 1 tablespoon of salt.

Many people are interested in the question of how to prepare natural dyes and how to dye eggs with them later.

There are several ways to dye eggs. These two methods differ only in the waiting time.

In the first case, the product that the eye fell on must be washed well and cut into small cubes. You can grind in a blender.

The resulting puree must be poured with water and put to boil. The amount of water depends on the desired shade. For a rich and dark color, it is better to pour less water. After boiling, cook over low heat for 29 minutes.

After the time has elapsed, carefully place the raw eggs into the solution. It is best to take white ones - they will color much better.

There should be enough water in the pot to completely cover the eggs. Bring the dye over high heat to a boil again and cook for 11 minutes.

Carefully remove the eggs and place on a paper towel or napkins. Spreading it on a regular towel, it can be ruined.

After drying, it will look like a Christmas tree, and it will be very difficult to wash it.

Ready eggs can be grated with vegetable oil. So they will acquire shine and will look much brighter.

By adding a teaspoon of vinegar to the solution, you can make the color much brighter.

In the second method, already boiled eggs are used.

The preparation of the solution is the same as in the first variant, only after boiling it must be removed from the heat and only then ready-made eggs should be laid.

To fully dye eggs with natural dyes, you will have to wait from half an hour to 50 minutes.

We dye eggs in onion skins without chemical dyes

The main and most popular option for painting eggs is the use of onions.

Harvesting the husks is best started a few weeks before the start of cooking. So you don’t have to immediately peel a lot of onions and then figure out where to put them.

With this staining, you can achieve colors from bright yellow to brown. Hue depends on the amount of husk and cooking time.

Put the onion peel in a saucepan, add water and put on a large fire. After boiling, cook from 41 minutes to an hour.

After the time has elapsed, remove the solution from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.

Put pre-washed and warmed eggs in a saucepan with dye and cook for 11 minutes. Then take it out and cool down a bit.

If the desired shade is not achieved, and you want a lot darker, just put them back in the husk.

Also, with the help of husks and paper, you can create an unusual color for eggs. This method is called marble.

Paper and dry husks need to be finely chopped, but not into dust.

Mix everything in a dry bowl. Pour the eggs over with water and wipe a little with a cloth so that they remain moist.

Then put them in a bowl with paper and mix gently.

Then wrap with gauze and dip in boiling water. Do this with the rest of the eggs.

So with the help of one natural dye and paper, unusual patterns on eggs for Easter will be obtained.

Coloring eggs with dye, rice and other items

With the help of rice, you can achieve beautiful spots. To do this, the prepared egg needs to be moistened a little in water and sprinkled with rice.

Wrap the resulting creation carefully with gauze or put in a stocking.

Tie tightly with a thread so that it does not fall out. Boil in any of the natural dyes for Easter eggs.

What colors will turn out when painting eggs for Easter with natural dyes

When painting eggs for Easter with natural dyes, you need to find out in advance how they will look approximately.

When using blue cabbage or frozen blueberries and blueberries, you will get a blue tint.

When prepared, the solution will have a red color, but the end result may surprise.

The longer you cook the eggs, the darker they will become.

To get a yellow tint, add chopped carrots or chamomile flowers to the water. But you should be careful with carrots, in larger quantities it can give not a yellow tint, but an orange one.

Orange color well gives orange juice, red carrots or paprika. For a richer color, you can add a little turmeric.

Spinach, parsley or nettle leaves give a light green tint. If you want the eggs to be the same color and without patterns, the prepared solution must be filtered.

If you boil eggs in brewed coffee or black tea, you end up with a brown tint. The stronger the drink is brewed, the darker the color will turn out.

A decoction of branches and cherry bark will give a red tint.

The broth should be allowed to boil for several hours and left for several hours, and preferably overnight.

Then strain and boil the eggs in it. With a small amount of bark, you can get pink eggs.

Using only natural dyes, you can also beautifully decorate the festive table, no worse than with purchased chemical paints.

A detailed master class on dyeing Easter eggs with natural dyes in the video:

With spring warmth and sun, the bright holiday of Easter comes to us. Tall stately Easter cakes, tender cottage cheese Easter, a variety of pastries in the form of chickens, rabbits and, of course, colored eggs. If dishes are prepared for family and guests, then eggs are presented to all acquaintances and strangers. From children who bring the news of the Resurrection of Christ in the morning to work colleagues. "Christ is risen!" - they say at the same time. "In truth, he has risen!" - they hear in response and receive a testicle in return.

What are Easter eggs?

Interestingly, dyed Easter eggs have their own names, depending on how the eggs were dyed. Krashenki are plain eggs, krapanki are eggs covered with multi-colored spots, which are obtained with the help of droplets of wax. And if we paint the eggs and scratch out the drawing, then we get a drape. Separately, it is worth noting the Easter eggs. This is not just an Easter attribute, but a work of art! Drawings on eggs are made with a special tool - a scribbler.
In the article, we have collected both the well-known ways of painting eggs, which everyone knows very well, but may have forgotten the nuances, as well as the more interesting and “unhackneyed” ones. In addition, we will talk about quick options for beautifully painting eggs with the least effort, about decorating methods that you can do with your child, and about such original ways where you can let your imagination go free swimming and expect great results! For convenience, all 20 methods are divided into thematic blocks.

Key to start - preparing eggs for painting

  • First: never start boiling eggs without first taking them out of the refrigerator at least an hour or two before coloring. Eggs should be at least at room temperature so they don't burst during cooking. You can prevent the explosion of eggs in another way. They need to be pierced with a thin sharp needle. However, the first option is much easier and safer.
  • Second: when cooking, add 1 tbsp. l. table salt per 1.5-2 liters of water. It is believed that this is done so that the shell does not burst. In fact, it is correct to say that salt will prevent the protein from leaking out and forming white “growths” if the shell suddenly cracks.
  • Third: the eggs should be thoroughly washed, perhaps even using a dish sponge. This is done so that the paint lies more evenly. You can also wipe the testicle with soapy water or alcohol.
  • Fourth: you can paint eggs for Easter not only chicken, but also quail. It turns out very interesting and unusual! We also pre-keep them at room temperature, rinse and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  • Fifth: in order for the paint to hold better, vinegar (9%) is added during the dyeing process. On average, 1 tbsp. l. for 1.5 l. water.
  • Well, one last piece of advice. how to give already dyed eggs a festive look. Rub them, after wiping dry, with vegetable oil.

How to dye eggs in onion skins

First: classics of the genre - onion peel and its variations

The traditional crimson, brown or dark yellow eggs are obtained by dyeing them with onion skins. In this case, both the husks of ordinary onions and red onions are used. When calculating the color, you can focus on such a hint. If you take the husks of 8 onions for 2 glasses of water, you get a red-brown color.

Second: a tandem of husk with brilliant green

A very interesting option is burgundy-green or brown-brilliant eggs. For their execution, you will need onion peel, brilliant green (standard vial, 10 ml per 1.5 l.), nylon stocking (or gauze), gloves (to protect the skin of the hands from brilliant green).

Third: coloring in the husk with patterns

You can diversify the coloring with onion peel if you first apply a patterned figure to the egg and fix it with a piece of nylon. At the same time, to obtain a pattern, you can take what is at hand. For example, parsley leaves, parsnips, dill, peppermint, fresh or dried flowers. Dry material must first be soaked with hot water, and then applied to the egg.

The chosen motif - a leaf or flower, tightly fix with a nylon stocking (or bandage, gauze) and carry out standard staining with onion peel. Then remove the stocking, remove the stencil for the pattern, and an egg painted with onion peel, but with an imprint of a leaf or flower in the natural color of the shell, will appear.
By the same principle, you can decorate the dot with chaotic dots of the color of an unpainted shell. To do this, roll a wet egg before painting with onion peel in rice, crushed peas or millet, or attach a piece of lace to it. Fix the croup or lace patterned motif with stocking capron.

You can get a variety of patterns without using a fixing material:

  1. for straight lines in the natural color of the shell on the egg, put rubber bands on it for money;
  2. any pattern can be made from masking tape, plaster, self-adhesive paper, or simply paint the egg with wax crayons;
  3. eggs in the "cell" will turn out if you put on them mesh stockings or a vegetable mesh.

Methods with dyes - natural and not very

Fourth: gifts from nature - natural dyes

  1. Pour water into a 1.5 liter saucepan and put a natural pigment - the source of color.
  2. Bring to a boil, let it boil a little and leave to infuse for half an hour.
  3. Strain the broth, pour in 1 tbsp. l. 9% vinegar and put eggs in a saucepan.
  4. Simmer over low heat until at least tender (12-15 minutes). If the color is taken poorly - up to half an hour.
  5. If the coloring is not successful even within half an hour, leave the eggs in a saucepan with a coloring solution overnight.

Fifth: a scientific alternative to natural dyes - food grade dyes

Multi-colored eggs on young grass, what could be fresher and more attractive for Easter? To make them quickly and without much hassle, you can buy a special Easter set in the store. When choosing it, please note that dyes are different according to the method of application.
One of the options is exactly the paint that needs to be applied directly to the boiled egg. The other is a powder or tablet for diluting a colored solution. Eggs are lowered into it and kept there until the paint is taken.
The staining method must be indicated on the dye packaging. There is nothing complicated in using ready-made liquid paint. It is applied to the prepared egg, evenly distributed and allowed to dry. The method of coloring with water-borne dyes in the general case looks like this:

Sixth: with the world on a string - a colorful egg

A riot of colors in one egg is a method of dyeing with floss threads. Very simple and beautiful:

  1. Wrap multi-colored floss threads on a raw, room temperature, pre-washed egg. Combine colors and arrangement of threads as your fantasy tells!
  2. 2. Boil them in the usual way until hard-boiled (12-15 minutes).
  3. 3. Remove threads.

Seventh: fabric translators

Transfer a beautiful pattern from fabric to an egg? It is quite possible. Just take the choice of fabric seriously. In our age of the extremely developed chemical industry and the desire to reduce the cost of things at any cost, you can run into a chemically dyed fabric. Despite the beauty of the drawing on it, it is better to refuse to use it. Examples of permitted material are a Pavloposad shawl or a silk tie with an interesting pattern.

  1. Place the selected fabric with the right side on the egg. Secure it by stitching along the contour.
  2. From above, you can additionally fix the matter by wrapping the egg with a nylon stocking or white cotton cloth.

  3. Add 9% vinegar (3 tablespoons per 1.5 liter saucepan) to the cooking water and boil the hard-boiled eggs (12-15 minutes).
  4. Drain the water, cool the eggs and free them from the tissue. The drawing should appear with gentle contours on the shell.
  5. We paint with the children

Both adults and children look forward to Easter with the same impatience. Give the kids the opportunity to make a beautiful craft egg and give it to, for example, grandparents. Being engaged in such creativity, we encourage the children's desire to make beautiful things and give it to loved ones. Moreover, it is very interesting and fun!

    Eighth: craft egg

From krashenka you can make a perky chicken:

    1. Color the egg yellow with food coloring. Although chickens can be of other colors: blue or pink, for example. Even a child from 3 years of age can cope with coloring with colored powders or tablets diluted in water. Of course, under the supervision and strict guidance of an adult.
    2. Cut out details for decorating a chicken from colored paper: eyes, wings, tail, beak, scallop. And also: a bow - if it's a girl or a bow tie, a tie - if it's a boy. You can also use decorative fluff from a needlework store. It turns out cool and very cute!
    3. Use gelatin glue to fix the prepared parts. To do this, soak the gelatin as indicated on the package. Drain excess liquid, and heat the granules until they dissolve. It is not necessary to bring to a boil.
    4. Apply gelatin glue with a brush on the details, the egg and gradually turn it into a chicken!

    Ninth: funny faces

Show your children that you can draw on the egg in an unusual way. But since this is a product and it is then eaten, the paints must be natural. For example, it is very easy to make an edible "gouache" from cocoa powder. She can draw the face of an animal, the face of a funny weirdo, or even a portrait. Eyes can also be depicted, but it will be more interesting to glue ready-made ones from a needlework store.

    1. Boil the eggs. If necessary, color with food coloring, for example, if you are making a lion's face - yellow.
    2. Slowly pour warm water into a tablespoon of cocoa until sour cream is thick.
    3. Plant the finished eggs on stands, such as plastic bottle caps, and draw.
    4. Let the chocolate gouache dry.
    5. Then glue the eyes with gelatin glue if they do not initially have an adhesive base.

    Tenth: wax crayons (pencils)

This is a way for school children. Since you have to work with a hot, freshly boiled egg.

    1. Take them out of the pot, pat dry with a towel.
    2. Place the egg on a stand, such as a bottle cap.
    3. Start drawing with wax pencils. The wax will diverge from the heat and create bizarre transitions, overflows. Choose colors carefully!
    4. You can paint eggs in this way not only with pencils, but also with the help of sprinkling with wax crumbs. To obtain it, the crayons are rubbed on a fine grater. And then poured onto a hot, freshly boiled egg.
    5. And another way to decorate with wax crayons is to melt them and dip an egg into it.

    Time saving

When a woman is not only a housewife, but also the main earner in the family, there is not so much time for home life. Moreover, Easter eggs are painted on Maundy Thursday. Until the weekend, this activity is not postponed. Therefore, in the absence of time, you can resort to "quick" ways to make Easter eggs.

    Eleventh: thermal film stickers

Once and done - this is about one of the easiest ways to create an Easter mood using thermal stickers. How beautiful they are: with Gzhel-style painting, Khokhloma, with intricate patterns, butterflies, flowers, church plots, as well as rabbits, kittens and even children's cartoon characters! If you plan on using thermal stickers, choose smaller eggs. Otherwise, they simply will not enter the thermal basis. Stickers can be applied to unpainted boiled eggs, and you can also use them as a fallback option, if the shell cracked when painted with husks.
Please note: eggs in thermal stickers are stored less than, for example, dyed with husks or food coloring.

    1. Boil the eggs in the usual way.
    2. Put the thermal base on the egg and put it in a strainer.
    3. Dip the strainer in boiling water for a few seconds. As soon as the thermal sticker "hugs" it, pull it out.

    Twelfth: holiday attire

Being one of the most important Easter symbols, the egg requires an appropriate outfit. So far, we have talked about its color, but you can do it differently. It is enough to wrap a boiled egg in bright foil. Voila! And it is in the spotlight. And in addition, it will be decorated with exquisite decoration.

    1. Boil the eggs.
    2. Cut multi-colored foil (sold in stationery stores) into rectangular pieces of such a size that it is enough to wrap an egg.
    3. Prepare decor elements or just use confetti.
    4. Wrap cooled eggs in foil. Attach decor to them with glue.

    flight of fancy

If the standard traditional methods of dyeing eggs seem boring and monotonous, let your imagination fly and follow it like a white rabbit.

Thirteenth: the power of the rainbow

This method is a variation of food coloring. The combination of colors, the depth of staining, the number of layers ... All this is chosen individually. Therefore, such dyes are 100% original. However, in order for the eggs to turn out like in the picture, you need high-quality dyes that give rich colors. You need to breed them, following the instructions. Another tip: you need to start with light tones, gradually resorting to darker and darker ones, and finish with the darkest ones.

    1. Boil the eggs.
    2. Take one and paint it completely in the lightest color.
    3. Dip the painted egg into the paint a tone darker, but not completely, but up to half.
    4. Wait for the paint to take. Then dry it.
    5. Then do the same, applying paint in layers.

    Fourteenth: eggs "on style"

Easter, originally a religious holiday, has now become more secular. Therefore, eggs are not only traditionally painted red or a pattern corresponding to the holiday is applied, but they also approach this activity more simply and creatively. For example, eggs will be stylish if you apply a pattern to them with a permanent marker. You can come up with a coloring book yourself or get ideas from the Internet.

    1. Boil the eggs, be sure to hard boil.
    2. Set them on stands and apply the chosen pattern with a permanent marker.
    3. After finishing work, let it dry. This will take approximately an hour.

    Fifteenth: stencil work

This method is relatively traditional. We find a stencil, apply it to the egg, paint it with natural or food coloring. A flight of fancy should manifest itself in the choice of a stencil. Here everyday experience, information from books, magazines, the Internet can come to the rescue. Or maybe you have family symbols. The main thing to remember is that the selected color and stencil should be in harmony with each other.

    1. Choose a stencil pattern.
    2. Apply it to ultra-thin paper (tracing paper).
    3. Moisten the paper so that it becomes plastic and can be easily applied to the egg.
    4. Firmly fix the attached stencil on the egg with a nylon stocking or bandage (gauze).
    5. When the preparation for coloring the eggs is completed, do it in any way: onion peel, food coloring. Only if the eggs are dyed with onion skins, they do not need to be boiled first. And if the method of coloring with food coloring is chosen, then they must be pre-cooked “hard-boiled”.
    6. Remove the fixing material and stencils from the finished cooled eggs.

    Sixteenth: marble effect

Artistic flair will be needed for those who decide to paint eggs in marble color. It is not difficult to do this. The main thing is to choose colors beautifully and purchase high-quality dyes.

    1. Boil the eggs.
    2. Color them in a light-colored dye: yellow, orange, blue. Let dry.
    3. Dilute in a deep narrow container (in a glass, tea cup) a dark-colored dye: purple, brown, dark blue. Add 1 teaspoon to each cup of dark solution. vegetable oil. Stir so that a spoonful of oil disperses into many small oil droplets.
    4. Dip light dyes in dark dye. It's ideal to do it once.
    5. Let dry. Marble eggs are ready!

Options for decorating ready-made dyed eggs

If the simple coloring of eggs is not enough and the soul asks for an artistic continuation, choose one of the proposed options. Turn paint into a work of art!

    Seventeenth: 3D decor

Quite laborious, but worth it. To decorate eggs, you will need a wax or paraffin candle, as well as a variety of cereals, small pasta, confectionery sprinkles and whatever else your heart desires.

    1. Take the finished dye.
    2. Light a candle and use melted wax (paraffin) to apply a pattern on it. Do it very carefully. The flame should not touch the shell, otherwise a gray trace of soot may remain.
    3. Roll the egg in the material of your choice. You can also put decorative elements on the adhesive base with your hands.
    4. When the work dries, you can grease the decorated surface with vegetable oil for a more presentable look.

    Eighteenth: sugar lace

Eggs in voluminous lace are very stylish, festive and go well with any traditional pattern on krashenka. To make them, you need powdered sugar (about a glass) and water. If powdered sugar is not at hand, you can make it yourself. To do this, you need granulated sugar and a coffee grinder.

    1. Slowly pour water into the powdered sugar so that a white mass of thick consistency is obtained.
    2. Place the decorative sugar mass into a confectionery syringe.
    3. Take the finished dye.
    4. Put a pattern on it.
    5. Let dry.

    Nineteenth: decoupage technique

In order for a picture to appear on the dye, it is not necessary to apply a thermal sticker on it or transfer the pattern from the fabric. You can remember about the decoupage technique. It is designed to decorate not only plates and furniture, but it can also be transferred to the plane of Easter decor. To do this, we will have to use beautiful napkins or their elements and gelatin glue. To prepare the glue, gelatin is soaked according to the instructions on the package. Then the excess moisture is drained and heated, without bringing to a boil, until the granules dissolve.

    Twentieth: drapanki

Colored eggs with a white pattern can be made not only by applying a stencil. The pattern can be scratched on the surface of an egg painted with onion peel with a clerical knife or a thick, sharp needle. This method is laborious, but applicable when it is planned to make a thin, elegant pattern on the egg, which is difficult to achieve by applying a stencil.

    1. Make dye with onion skins.
    2. Draw a pattern on it with a simple pencil. You can do without it if you feel confident or your hand is full.
    3. Walk along the line drawn with a pencil with a clerical knife, scratching the outline.

Easter is a family holiday that gives hope for the future and faith in a miracle. Touch and you a piece of beauty - choose the way you like and paint the eggs for the Easter table. There is only one minus in dyeing eggs according to the methods described. It can turn out so beautiful that it will be a pity to eat!

Traditionally, colored eggs were prepared for the Easter table and presented to relatives and friends during the week before the holiday. Krashenki - eggs painted in one color, without patterns or painting.

Today you can find many chemical dyes of bright colors for eggs, but the most beautiful, healthy and even delicious are those dyes that are dyed with natural dyes, which were used by our great-grandmothers. Natural dyes for eggs cannot give such a bright shade as chemical ones, but they are absolutely harmless and can color eggs in very delicate and beautiful colors.

  2. So that the eggs do not crack when stained, they should not be cold (from the refrigerator), they should be kept at room temperature for several hours and washed in warm water before coloring.
  3. It is better to boil the eggs in a thick-walled saucepan - this will protect the eggs from cracking. Eggs should be slowly brought to a boil and then boiled at a minimum boil.
  4. After dyeing, you can wipe the eggs with sunflower oil, then they will acquire a stunning shine.
  5. If, after staining, put the eggs in the same broth all night in the refrigerator, then the color of the shell will be brighter.

The brightest holiday for Orthodox Christians is coming. Easter is filled with kindness and love, and warm and sunny spring days give the celebration a special atmosphere. It is customary to bake Easter cakes for the holiday, make a curd treat - Easter, and, of course, paint eggs, the tradition of exchanging which has been going on since ancient times.

All housewives know how to dye eggs with natural dyes, most of them prefer the most common method - with onion peel. However, there are many no less original and, most importantly, safe ways to color ordinary chicken eggs in all the colors of the rainbow.

Secrets of staining

When buying eggs, you need to look at the expiration date. Only the freshest are selected, because they are painted on a clean Thursday, 3 days before they can be eaten, in addition, they will have to be stored for another 9 days - until the parent's day.

Why do you need to paint eggs at home on Thursday, why can't it be done, say, on Friday or Saturday? On this day, all preparations for Easter are completed.

On Good Friday, it is forbidden to do anything, on Saturday you need to do charity work, keep fasting and decorate your home for the bright holiday. Therefore, by Thursday you need to stock up on everything you need: dyes, as well as decoration elements - rice, scraps of fabric, threads - it depends on your imagination.

Cook for at least half an hour, so that the protein darkens. Long cooking is due to the subsequent storage of the product, otherwise it may simply not live up to the parent's day. In this case, a lot of water is required, besides, you need to make sure that it does not boil away, and constantly add.

Before dyeing, the eggs can be wiped with vinegar, then the dye is better absorbed. Hands during the procedure must be dry and clean.

If the hostess wants the testicles to turn even and beautiful, no matter what natural dye she chooses, she should not throw it into the water, but put it in a nylon sock, tie it up and put it in the pan. Otherwise, the dye particles will stick to the shell, and it will become mottled.

Eggs can be painted over not only from the outside, but also from the inside. To do this, they need to be boiled for 3 minutes, then take out and carefully pierce the shell from several places with a thin, sharp needle. After that, boil until tender.

Choice of natural dye

Onion peel, popular among the people, stains the shell in a rich red-brown, orange or yellow color, it all depends on its amount and the time during which the eggs will be in solution.

How else can you paint eggs at home:

  1. Coffee and black tea give them a beautiful brown or natural beige color.
  2. Elderberries or blueberries will make Easter eggs pale lilac or blue.

  3. Red cabbage will act as a blue natural dye.
  4. Carrots, oranges and lemons turn eggshells a light yellow color.
  5. Beets will give the eggs a spectacular purple color.
  6. Turmeric is bright yellow.

This will require the husks of at least 8 large onions, which are harvested in advance.

Coloring steps:

By the way, do not rush to pour out the decoction of onion peel after staining. You can use it for culinary purposes and bake the brisket in the husk. And women who want their hair to always look great know that you can rinse your hair with such a decoction. The husk not only strengthens them, but also gives a delightful reddish tint and shine to the hair.

Beet

The available root vegetable can give eggs both hot pink and intense burgundy. There are several options for staining with beets. Let's consider each of them in detail.

Option #1:

  1. Grate 1 large beetroot, squeeze the juice out of it.
  2. Put the boiled eggs into the solution.
  3. Pink color will turn out if you hold them for one hour, burgundy - if you leave them overnight. It is important to ensure that the juice covers the eggs completely.

Option #2:

  1. Grate the beets.
  2. Pour the mixture with water.
  3. Add vinegar to the solution.
  4. Put the juice on the fire and bring to a boil.
  5. Put boiled eggs into the solution. Their color will also depend on how long they will be in beetroot water.

Option number 3:

  1. Grate the beets on a fine grater.
  2. Grate the eggs with the resulting gruel. Keep in mind that they may stain unevenly, and small specks will appear on the shell.

Coloring Easter eggs with any natural dyes, including beets, is best done with gloves, because the hands will also be stained, and it will be problematic to wash them afterwards.

Option number 4:

  1. Peel the beets, cut into pieces.
  2. Pour the root crop and raw eggs with cold water.
  3. Boil the allotted time.

By the way, if you mix beetroot juice with turmeric and color eggs in the resulting solution, they will turn out to be a beautiful green color.

Hibiscus

If you want to get something original and surprise your
loved ones with beautiful sky-blue Easter eggs, then try to paint them in an exotic hibiscus (tea from Sudanese rose petals).

Coloring steps:

  1. Boil 500 ml of hibiscus in a large saucepan, cool.
  2. Boil the eggs (they should be white).
  3. Dip the boiled eggs in the hibiscus solution, hold them there for several minutes, remove, dry.
  4. Drop it back into the decoction. If the eggs are kept in tea leaves for a long time, they will acquire an unaesthetic gray tint.

Spinach

The green color of Easter eggs will be painted by the most ordinary spinach.

Coloring steps:

  1. Wash and dry spinach.
  2. Wrap each white-shelled egg with a spinach leaf.
  3. Fasten the leaves with threads, rubber bands or put eggs in a nylon sock.
  4. Boil the required amount of time.
  5. Cool the solution and put eggs in it again to achieve the most bright, saturated color.

Important: if you use fresh spinach, the eggshell will be green, if frozen - beige, which also looks very impressive.

Turmeric

Coloring in turmeric is very popular. White eggs acquire a pleasant light yellow hue, brown eggs become a rich orange.

Keep in mind that turmeric is not completely soluble in water, so be careful not to hurt or damage the shell, you need to stir the water. It is advisable to take an old pan, because the walls of the dishes will turn bright orange and it will be difficult to wash it. This can be done using the usual "Whiteness".

Turmeric is a highly coloring substance, so it is better to carry out the procedure with gloves, and cover the table with oilcloth or newspapers.

Coloring steps:

Do not be afraid if the protein also turns orange, this is just the action of a natural dye. There is no health risk.

Original ways to decorate with your own hands

Everyone at home can be involved in the exciting process, especially children love to do this.

Refined and unique drawings on Easter eggs are obtained by dyeing them with fabrics, for example, pieces of an old silk tie or Pavlovo-Pasad shawls. You can use any other fabrics on which you like the patterns and which you would like to reproduce.

  • Patterns from powdered sugar.

Beautiful dazzling white do-it-yourself patterns can be applied to dyed eggs using powdered sugar. Unusual printed texture of the ingredient used will make Easter eggs unique, no matter what color they are painted, even in a delicate pastel, even in a bright, saturated one.

  1. Ready powdered sugar is used, but if it is not at hand, then ordinary granulated sugar (one glass is enough) must be ground in a coffee grinder. Mix the powder with water so that a thick, viscous and homogeneous mass is obtained. The liquid mixture will spread over the egg.
  2. Draw the resulting solution with a confectionery syringe and apply to colored and pre-chilled eggs.
  3. To make it more convenient to paint the eggs, they need to be put in a glass or on a special stand. Brushes can be used instead of a syringe.
  • Drapanki.

This painting technique has been used since ancient times. On dyed and chilled eggs, a layer of paint is scraped off with a knife or other sharp object, thus creating the desired pattern.

One of the most ancient traditions of the Spring Festival is the dyeing of Easter eggs.
Let's figure out how to paint eggs for Easter to get the original color and pattern.

First the general rules:

✔ So that the eggs do not burst during cooking, they should be kept warm or at room temperature for about an hour, when cooking, you can add a tablespoon of salt to the water, small holes can be pierced at one end of each egg.

✔ Do not overcook the eggs, otherwise they will be beautiful only on the outside, and inside the yolk will become a bluish tint.

✔ The longer the egg is boiled, the more likely it is that the paint from the broth will be deeply absorbed into it.

✔ Before you paint the eggs, they need to be rubbed with soapy water or alcohol - the paint will lay down more evenly.

✔ When dyeing eggs, you need to add a little vinegar or lemon juice to the water, then the paint will lie evenly. Acetic acid corrodes the shell, making the surface rougher and more susceptible to dyes.

✔ The richer the color, the more ingredients are needed for the coloring solution (for example, husks).
Knowledgeable people say that homemade onion peel is best suited for coloring, the color of its decoction is more intense.

✔ To make the color brighter, dyed eggs can be put in the refrigerator overnight right in the coloring solution.

✔ To make the painted eggs shine, they are wiped dry and smeared with sunflower oil.

✔ can be stored for about 3-5 days at room temperature, at the slightest suspicion of staleness, they do not need to be eaten.

✔ If you didn't use all the colored eggs on Easter Day, they can be a great addition to a variety of dishes from salads to sauces.

Art secrets: how to dye eggs naturally

For dyeing eggs, natural, food or aniline dyes are used. Flowers, leaves, grain husks, bark, roots, and berries can be raw materials for obtaining vegetable dyes.

We select the ingredients

To begin with, let's decide on the colors: what shades can we dye the eggs in so that the dyes are perfectly natural? In fact, the choice is not too great: yellow, brown, blue, purple, greenish, pink, red, burgundy.

Ocher (brown-yellow) - onion peel. 4 cups red onion skins. Boil eggs for 30 minutes - 1 hour. Depending on the soaking time, the eggs will turn bright scarlet to deep red.

Gilding - turmeric. Add 2-3 tablespoons of turmeric to hot water, boil to intensify the color.

❧ Pink - cranberry, beetroot juice. Soak boiled eggs in cranberry or beetroot juice.

Violet, blue - dried violets. Add violet flowers to hot water and soak overnight. If you add a little lemon juice to water, you get a lavender color.

Blue - red cabbage. Two heads of finely chopped red cabbage, 500 ml of water and 6 tbsp of white vinegar. Soak overnight for a deep blue color.

❧ Green- spinach, parsley. Add 1 tsp baking soda to the mixture to get a purple color or boil eggs with spinach.

❧ Lavender- red grape juice. Soak eggs in grape juice.

❧ Yellow- young birch leaves. Prepare a decoction of the leaves of a young birch, let it brew. Wash the eggs, dip in a warm infusion and cook for 10 minutes.

❧ Pastel colors- fresh frozen cranberries, blueberries, raspberries, lingonberries, elderberries. For soft pinks and blues, rub the shells with a handful of blueberries or cranberries. For soft crimson raspberry, for blue - elderberry.

Advice: All these berries can be bought in dried form at the pharmacy.

Dark brown - strong coffee or black tea. Boil eggs in 250 ml of coffee or tea leaves.

General rule: Don't forget to add a tablespoon of vinegar to the paint solution.

Video instruction: We paint eggs for Easter with natural dyes with our own hands

As a result, we can completely color the eggs for Easter with absolutely natural dyes.
Someone will stop there, and someone will also want to paint an Easter egg. In this case, we make paints from dyes.

We make paints from dyes

The easiest and safest way to make eggshell paints is to…use yolk. Because. we need quite a bit of paint for painting, then 2 yolks and 2 tbsp. enough water to make the base.

Separate yolks and whites. Beat the yolks with water and add a few drops of decoction of plants or herbs to get the color. Don't forget to stock up on a few small containers for individual flowers.

It is good to paint with egg yolk paint on a dense shell. It is also suitable for patterning sugar cookies before they are baked.

The second way to compose the paint is to add a binder in the form of honey or molasses.

Advice: After dyeing Easter eggs, to give them shine, you need to wipe them with vegetable oil.

So - a few drops of honey are mixed with a strong broth of the desired color. If you like, add the yolk too. The paint will lay down better and dry faster. You can add protein. But then the color will be almost transparent, most delicate.

If you need white paint for a drawing, you need to crush ordinary school chalk into powder and mix with an egg. This paint will pick up well on a brush, dry for a long time, but will be the most durable.

Coloring in onion skins

Onion peel is probably the most common and well-known way of dyeing Easter eggs, and the color range is the most diverse: from yellowish to dark blue. It all depends not only on the concentration of the broth, but also on the color of the husk itself.

Usually, the husks begin to be collected in a few weeks: its amount depends on the saturation of the desired color. You can also mix different types of husks: from white, red and ordinary onions, then the shades will turn out to be the most unexpected.
You can dye such eggs in two ways - boil them in onion broth or leave already hard-boiled eggs overnight (accordingly, the intensity of the shade will be different).

To paint eggs with onion skins, you will need: eggs in the right amount, a lot of onion skins, water, salt, vegetable oil

Eggs need to be boiled in onion skins. Therefore, so that the eggs do not burst, they must be kept at room temperature for at least one hour and add a couple of teaspoons of salt to the water where the eggs will be boiled. And of course, before painting the eggs must be thoroughly washed.

Eggs of any color are suitable for this method of painting. Collect onion skins in a wide saucepan. Fill with water so that the pan is not full. And put the husk to simmer. I boil the husk for 45-50 minutes to get a dark, rich color.

When the onion peel paint is cooked, increase the heat and put the eggs directly into the pan. They are boiled together with the husk. Boiling time for eggs can be from 15 to 20 minutes. But then the eggs are well stored. During cooking, the eggs need to be turned over from time to time so that they are evenly colored. And of course, the water should completely cover the eggs.

Put the boiled colored eggs in a saucepan with cold water and put them to cool. When the eggs have cooled, they need to be pulled out and rubbed thoroughly. Ready eggs are of course colored, but not very beautiful, they are matte. To make the eggs shine, they can be lubricated with ordinary vegetable oil.

Coloring in leafy and herbal decoctions, and in tea

Decoctions of birch leaves, apple leaves, chamomile, nettle, etc. are ideal for coloring eggs.
It is also great to color eggs in tea: green, black and hibiscus (Sudanese rose).
It is enough just to boil the eggs in a tea solution.

Staining with juices of fruits and vegetables

Boiled eggs are usually rubbed with juices: carrot, beetroot, spinach or sorrel juice, you can also use the juice of red cabbage, blueberries or strawberries, etc. It all depends on your imagination.

Here, for example, is how to color eggs with beets.

A beautiful red-burgundy shell color is obtained by dyeing eggs in beetroot broth (10 minutes).

To do this, peel the beets and grate on a large vegetable grater. Add 1 teaspoon of vinegar. Three large beets per liter of water. Or you can simply rub the already boiled eggs with fresh beetroot juice.

speckled coloring

To achieve this effect, washed wet eggs should be rolled in rice or other cereals (you can use dry peas, buckwheat, etc.) and tightly wrapped with gauze so that the cereal sticks for sure, and kept in a coloring broth.

Coloring marble eggs

Before boiling, the eggs are wrapped in onion peel or leaves of any plants (by the way, it will turn out beautifully with nettle or spinach leaves) and boiled until tender.
After boiling, beautiful stains form on the eggs.

Coloring in multi-colored threads

Before cooking, prepared eggs should be wrapped in random order with shedding multi-colored threads, it is better to choose threads dyed with natural dyes and cook until cooked.
If the threads do not shed, and the eggs are boiled in a dye solution, you will get just interesting light stripes.

Coloring in coffee

Eggs can be boiled in strong coffee or you can leave already boiled eggs in it overnight.
There are many more folk and family coloring methods: ink staining, when ink is applied to boiled eggs; dyeing in silk shreds, when the eggs are boiled, wrapped in multi-colored shreds; some dye eggs with brilliant green, fucorcin and methylene blue solution (but these methods are a bit extreme).
When coloring eggs, you should rely on your experience and skill.

Modern technologies have made their own adjustments to the methods of staining and have opened up new possibilities.

But the question immediately arises: how is it safe to color the eggs so that they can then be eaten?

Dyes are developed specifically to restore the natural color of products lost during processing or to make colorless products more attractive. We are talking about drinks, ice cream, confectionery. So in principle, any food coloring is relatively harmless - if used in the right proportions.
There are two ways of coloring: hot and cold. With the hot method, eggs are boiled with paint, with the cold method, already prepared boiled eggs are aged in a coloring solution. In order for the paint to lie evenly, vinegar or lemon juice is added to the coloring solution.

Food coloring should be diluted according to manufacturer's instructions. The most suitable dishes for such paints are glass jars with a wide mouth.

Today, there are three types of food coloring - mixed, synthetic and natural.

Dangerous dyes

Mixed and synthetic dyes, as a rule, are used in large industrial enterprises and allow you to get any desired shade. In everyday life, they are practically not used, and just the basic safety requirements and legislative standards apply to them.

Aniline dyes are available in powder or tablet form. They are sold in hardware stores. You need to buy those that are intended for home dyeing of wool products. Prepare the concentrate according to the instructions. Divide half a liter of concentrate into three parts, pour into glass jars, add 150-200 grams of boiled water and 2 tablespoons of 9% vinegar to each of the three parts. If desired, a little paint of a different color can be added to the first two parts to get a wide range of shades.

Some aniline dyes are poisonous and are suitable only for dyeing souvenir Easter eggs. You can not eat such an egg.
The dyes listed below, which can be identified by labeling, have the most harmful effect on human health - they should be indicated on the pack, even with sweet powder. When buying bags of dye powders, you should also pay attention to the presence of these substances in order to protect yourself and your family: egg shells are porous, and harmful substances can penetrate deeper into the protein. So, you should be wary of 6 dyes that public organizations are seeking to ban:

  • E102 - tartrazine;
  • E104 - quiniline yellow (quinolone);
  • E110 - yellow sunny sunset(sunset);
  • E122 - azorubine (carmoisine, carmine);
  • E124 - Ponceau 4R (crimson);
  • E129 - charming red speakers.
  • In Ukraine, due to the harmful effects on the human body, the use of dyes E121 - citrus red 2, E123 - Amaranth for food purposes is prohibited.

Dyeing eggs in aniline and food colors occurs by bathing. The egg is placed on a plastic spoon and dipped in paint. The paint contains acid, and if the egg gets wet in food paint for more than five minutes, and in aniline for more than three, the calcium in the upper layer of the shell will be broken, the egg will be painted unevenly and will be hopelessly spoiled. Do not dip several eggs into a paint can at once. After painting one egg, remove it from the paint, gently blot it with a soft cloth and start painting another. There are food colorings in which eggs are colored only during cooking. They are suitable for the preparation of plain colors.

Needless to say, painting eggs for Easter is a great way to spend a fun family evening with kids or friends?
However, if there are small children in the family, try to do without aniline dyes. The guys will certainly want to "help" you in the preparation of Easter eggs. You simply cannot do without them. But there he licked his finger, rubbed his eyes there, inhaled the fumes - so he got poisoned ... Food colors are not as bright as aniline, but health is more expensive
