Coffee stains - effective troubleshooting. How to remove coffee stains - a list of effective means and methods

Coffee stains are not uncommon. Surely almost every one of those who regularly drink coffee spilled it on tablecloths, sofas, carpets or their own clothes. It is believed that coffee stains are among the hard to remove, but it is quite possible to get rid of them.

How to remove a coffee stain

Firstly, do not put it off indefinitely - coffee stains should be removed as soon as possible, especially on linen, cotton and other fabrics that absorb liquid well. One option for removing a stain is to lather it, lather it lightly, and then put the item in boiling water and boil it until the stain is gone. This method is only suitable for plain things - in boiling water, the fabric may begin to “shed”.

On woolen or silk fabrics, coffee stains are removed in a different way.. First, the stain must be cleaned with a cloth moistened with soapy water, to which a little ammonia is added (3-5 tsp per 1 liter of water). After such a “cleaning”, the whole thing must be washed in the usual way. If the stain is old, then you can try the following method: mix 1 tsp. glycerin, 1 tsp water and a few drops of ammonia, after which you need to wipe the stain with this composition until it disappears. Then the thing is washed with hot water.

When removing coffee stains, it should be borne in mind that they contain protein, dye, tannins and fat. It is this composition that determines the “hardness” of stains, but if you make enough effort, you will definitely succeed in returning your favorite thing to cleanliness. So, in general, it is recommended to clean the stain with a brush dipped in warm water, after which the whole thing should be washed first in warm soapy water with? tsp soda ash per 1 liter of water, and then rinse twice in warm and once in cold and slightly acidified with vinegar water.

In addition, a method is known for removing coffee stains using glycerin.- they lubricate the stain, leave for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Finally, you can try using oxalic acid - half a teaspoon in a glass of water. It helps very well to get rid of coffee stains on light fabrics. You can also use a hyposulfite solution (2 tsp per glass of water). After the fabric has been cleaned with any of these compounds, it must be washed in soapy water, adding 2 teaspoons of ammonia per 1 liter. soap solution.

Pollution spoils things, and some are very difficult to remove. To enjoy cleanliness, figure out how to get coffee stains out of white or colored clothes?

What methods can be applied?

There are several ways to get coffee stains out:

  1. Machine wash. This method is the most obvious and simple, but it is far from always effective, since coffee stains are considered difficult to remove, especially old ones. Still, it’s worth trying out the method, but you need to use a high-quality powder that can cope even with complex contaminants.
  2. Specialized stain removers such as Antipyatin or Vanish. They work well on a variety of stains, including coffee stains. Before use, be sure to read the instructions and follow all the instructions in it.
  3. Salt is an effective adsorbent that quickly absorbs liquids and, accordingly, draws them out of materials. But such a tool can only be used to remove contaminants left recently. Salt can be used in two main ways. First: pour it on fresh pollution, wait a bit, and then shake off the product. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated. The second way: pour warm water into a bowl and dissolve salt in it (a third of a glass per liter). Immerse the soiled item in this solution, leave it for several hours, after which rinse thoroughly.
  4. Ammonia will help if you treat the contaminated area with it, leave the product for a while, and then wash it. Wet the cloth in alcohol liberally, especially if the stain is complex.
  5. A proven remedy is lemon juice. Carefully treat the stain left by the coffee with it, wait half an hour or an hour, and then simply wash the product in the usual way: by hand or in a washing machine.
  6. Coffee stains can be removed from light clothes using glycerin. It must be heated in a water bath, and then applied liberally to the stained area and left for an hour. Next, rinse the item in warm water. If the contamination is not removed the first time, the procedure may be repeated.
  7. In equal proportions, mix glycerin with table salt and apply this composition to the contaminated areas, leaving for half an hour. When the stain becomes almost invisible, you can proceed to the usual washing with powder.
  8. Glycerin can be used in another way, mixing it with ammonia (the proportions will be approximately equal). This mixture is used for thorough treatment of problem areas and aged for half an hour or an hour, depending on the degree and complexity of contamination.
  9. Try removing coffee stains with a high alkaline laundry soap. First, its 50-gram piece is rubbed on a grater, then the chips are dissolved in a glass of warm or hot water. The resulting soap solution is used to treat dirty areas or soak the product if it is heavily soiled.
  10. Prepare turpentine oil and ammonia and mix these two components in equal proportions. Soak a cotton pad, swab, or piece of soft cloth well in the mixture. Treat the problem area so that it becomes completely wet. After half an hour or an hour, the thing can be washed with powder or soap.
  11. If a synthetic item is dirty, then try using ethyl alcohol to clean it. They need to moisten the stain well, leave it for an hour, and then simply wash the thing with their hands or in a washing machine.
  12. Experienced housewives know that vinegar is an effective and affordable natural stain remover and cleaner. If you have an essence, then it must be diluted with two or three parts of warm water. The coffee stain is treated with this solution. If it is old, then you need to wait an hour or two. Then the thing is washed with soap or powder and rinsed. Weak 9% vinegar you can use in its pure form.
  13. Another effective remedy is ammonia with ordinary laundry soap. Grate or finely chop about two tablespoons of soap and dissolve this amount in half a glass of ammonia. To enhance the effect, this mixture can be heated. Then apply it on the stain left by the coffee, wait thirty to forty minutes, rinse off the composition and wash the product in the usual way.
  14. You can prepare a kind of paste to remove stains. To do this, mix the usual washing powder with vinegar until a not very thick slurry is obtained. Apply this mass in a dense layer on the soiled area and soak for an hour so that the material is well saturated and the pollution dissolves. Then wash and then rinse.
  15. Boiling, which is well known to our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, can also help, which copes with a variety of stains. The thing must be immersed in a basin and boiled for about ten to fifteen minutes. If the product is slightly dirty, then simply place it in freshly boiled water.
  16. Prepare a mixture of equal parts of alcohol (ethyl or ammonia), salt and glycerin. Treat stains with it, leave for a while until the dirt dissolves, and then wash the item.
  17. Try washing the product with the addition of bleach. But remember that such a tool is considered quite aggressive and can damage delicate materials.
  18. Whey contains acid, so it also works well on stains, including coffee stains. It is applied to pollution, aged for at least an hour and washed off with cool water. Next, the product must be washed well.
  19. Try using powder borax. Dilute it with warm water until a homogeneous, thin composition is obtained and apply liberally to the soiled material. After thirty to forty minutes, rinse off the product, and wash the item.
  20. Use hydrogen peroxide: in its pure form or mixed with alcohol (both ordinary ethyl and ammonia are suitable). Treat the thing with the product, wash off the mixture after half an hour, and then start washing.

To get rid of a coffee stain without harm to a contaminated product, you need to follow a few simple rules.

  • First, remember that the sooner you begin to act, the higher the chances of complete removal of contaminants. Fresh stains are easier to remove than old and stubborn stains.
  • Secondly, before cleaning, study in detail the information provided on the item's label (if any). Strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  • And, thirdly, the selected tool must first be tested in order to exclude the possibility of damage and deterioration of the material. Apply a small amount of it on the wrong side of the thing: if nothing happens, proceed to a full cleaning. If the fabric changes properties, use another product.

Heated glycerin will work well here as well. They need to moisten the pollution, let stand for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water and dry with a towel. This method will help both degrease the milk component and remove the yellow tint.

IMPORTANT. Lattice stains must not be removed with hot water. Under its influence, the protein contained in milk coagulates, and it becomes much more difficult to extract it from the structure of the material.

You can degrease a trace of coffee with potato starch. Having made a gruel with the addition of cold water, it can be rubbed into the place of contamination with a brush. Then the starch is washed off, and the thing dries naturally. The remaining yellowish trace is removed by any chosen method.
