Painting eggs with onion skins. How to dye eggs for Easter with onion skins with beautiful parsley patterns - beautiful and natural

We all can make the Easter celebration unique: cook interesting dishes, decorate the Easter table and, of course, decorate eggs. Even the easiest way to color eggs - using onion skins - can make an Easter basket look original. To do this, it is enough to use small leaves of plants, including ordinary greens.
So, how to paint eggs for Easter in onion skins with a pattern?

To create crayons with a pattern, we need:
Eggs are white;
Onion peel (the more, the better);
parsley leaves;
Scissors;
Strong threads;
Nylon stockings.

Process:

1. From the very beginning, put the onion peel in a saucepan, fill it with water and put on fire. Cook a decoction of the husks: after boiling, the water should boil for at least 15 minutes. In the meantime, we take nylon stockings and cut them into squares measuring at least 7 by 7 cm (you can also 10 by 10 cm). We cut out as many squares as we will paint the eggs.

2. We put a clean egg in front of us. We select the most beautiful leaf from a bunch of parsley, moisten it with water and apply the “front” side to the egg. Thanks to water, the leaf sticks to the surface of the egg.

3. Next, we act quickly until the water on the leaf has dried. We cut off 20 cm of thread and put the egg with parsley with a blunt end in the center of the nylon square. Then, very carefully, so as not to move the parsley leaf, we wrap the egg with nylon (we pull the corners of the square to the top of the egg, then the gaps between the corners). If the capron has already completely covered the egg, we bandage the “forelock” of this “bag” several times. Then we make two knots so that the capron does not come loose.

4. We repeat the same with other eggs - we put parsley leaves on them and tighten them with nylon.

5. During this time, the onion broth is ready - the water has acquired a beautiful copper hue. Without removing the husk, turn off the fire and cool the broth so that the eggs do not crack from the temperature.

6. We put the warm decoction of onion peel on the fire again, and put our preparations of krashanok in it. Boil the eggs until tender, about 10 minutes. It is very desirable that the eggs are completely under water - so they will be colored evenly.

7. Boiled eggs in nylon bags are transferred to cold water for a few minutes. Then we cut off the nylon “forelock” from each egg and remove the entire “bag” along with the parsley leaf. Some people ask how to color eggs in onion skins so that they do not burst. In this way, the eggs will not burst, and if you boil them in onion broth, then add a tablespoon of salt directly to the broth.

8. In the place where there was a leaf, the egg became yellowish, and the rest of its surface was painted with onion peel in copper color. Here we have such krashanki with a pattern!

Some people often ask how to color eggs in onion skins in onion skins with brilliant green. I think you just need to try adding greens directly to the broth. Then the eggs will acquire a more different shade. I also make marble Easter eggs. We will also talk about this later.

Dyeing eggs for Easter is an integral ritual of one of the main Christian holidays, symbolizing the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This holiday is beautiful and solemn, with well-established centuries-old traditions. In addition to a deep religious meaning, Easter is associated with the purification of the soul and home, with delicious Easter cakes and Easter dishes.

The egg is rightfully considered a symbol of the birth of life, and the Easter painted egg means the resurrection from the dead and eternal life. It turns out that painted eggs were found in Egyptian and Sumerian tombs, which were built as early as the 3rd millennium BC. e. It is even difficult to imagine how many years such a tradition has existed.

Orthodox paint eggs during Holy Week on Maundy Thursday or Red Saturday. In 2019, these are April 26 and 28, respectively. Painted eggs are consecrated in the church at a festive service, and the first meal after Lent begins with eggs.

Do-it-yourself painting eggs for Easter has become not only a family art, but also a kind of competition - whose eggs are the most beautiful. And there are a lot of ways to paint eggs. You can, of course, paint eggs for Easter with paints, but this is still harmful chemistry, and food paints are not always on sale. I offer you natural ways to dye eggs at home.

Coloring eggs with onion skins - the traditional way

This is my favorite and most reliable way to color eggs. With this method, the eggs are always a beautiful color. I start harvesting onion peel a few months before Easter - I collect it in a separate bag. To make the color of the eggs saturated, there should be a lot of onion peel.

Pour the onion peel into a saucepan and cover with cold water. Put on the stove and bring to a boil.

Choose a worse pot, because the husk will paint the sides of the pot so that it will be difficult to clean.

Pour the eggs in a separate bowl with cold water and leave for 10 minutes.

Water with onion peel boils at this time, we reduce the fire so that the eggs do not crack. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the pan and carefully drop the eggs one at a time. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes.

If you want a more intense color, remove the pan from the heat and leave the eggs in this solution for a while.

After removing from the pan, let the eggs cool slightly and rub them with sunflower oil with a paper towel to shine.

Now the eggs “played” with paint, you can put them in a basket and bring them to the church to consecrate. I try to bless the eggs every Easter, and then treat my family, friends and neighbors.

How to dye eggs in onion skins with a pattern

If in the first recipe it was possible to use any eggs - white or brown, then white eggs are suitable for painting with onion peel with a pattern.

To decorate the eggs, we prepare the leaves of the plants in advance. Before Easter, fresh leaves are not always there, because this holiday can be in March, when nature is still sleeping. Therefore, you can use fresh herbs from the store - parsley, basil, dill, mint or lemon balm.

Birch leaves look beautiful. You can put a few branches in a vase of water in advance, and when the leaves bloom, use a few to decorate Easter eggs.

Lace, woolen threads are also suitable for coloring eggs with a pattern.

Also, you will need to prepare clean old stockings, tights or gauze in advance. You will also need thread.

So let's color the eggs.

Pour onion peel with cold water and bring to a boil.

We wash the eggs, dry them with a paper towel and wipe each egg with a cloth with vinegar.

We put a leaf or other decor on the egg, press it tightly and wrap the egg in a piece of stocking fabric or gauze.

To make the leaf adhere more tightly to the egg, it can be slightly moistened with water.

We tie a nylon or gauze fabric with a thread.

You can beautifully and originally paint eggs with lace and onion peel. It's simple - cut off the lace of the desired length and wrap the egg around it. We tie the ends with a thread and cut off all the excess.

You can also decorate the egg with woolen threads. Just randomly wrap the egg with string.

So that the eggs do not crack, pour 1 tbsp into the broth. l. salt. Carefully lower the eggs into the broth with onion peel and cook for 10-15 minutes. After that, the eggs are carefully immersed in cold water.

We remove the decor from the cooled eggs and wipe the eggs with vegetable oil.

Marble eggs with greenery

And this is my favorite method. Eggs are unusually beautiful, with marble stains. I will share one secret of this method - the more we chop the onion peel, the more beautiful the drawing will turn out. You can even try to grind the husk in a coffee grinder. I like to grind the husk with scissors.

To make the husks stick well to the eggs, moisten them with water, then roll each egg in the onion skins. In a piece of gauze or stocking, put some more husks, place the egg inside and wrap around. Tie the ends with thread. Put to boil in a saucepan, adding 1 tsp. salt. 5 minutes after boiling, pour in 2 tsp. greens and cook for another 5 minutes. Then pour over the eggs with cold water and remove the gauze, remove the husk. Rub eggs with sunflower oil.

Beautiful marble eggs are ready!

How to dye eggs with onion skins and rice

Another simple and wonderful option for dyeing eggs in natural ways. The rice sticks to the eggs and the result is a pattern in the form of droplets. This method is very simple, try it. In addition to rice, you can also use peas.

Pour grains of rice or peas into a stocking, place an egg there, distribute the grain with your fingers around the entire circumference of the egg. We tie the fabric, and dip the eggs into the prepared broth with onion peel. Cook for 10 minutes, wash the eggs under running cold water and remove the stocking or gauze and grains. After the eggs have cooled down a bit, rub them with vegetable oil.

Coloring eggs with natural dyes

I already wrote that it is fundamentally against chemistry and coloring eggs with paints. Yes, it is beautiful and brighter, but health is more important. Moreover, there is a good replacement in the form of natural and harmless dyes from natural ingredients. Of course, these are all kinds of juices - beetroot, blueberry juice, red cabbage juice, spinach juice and others. From the juice of cranberries, raspberries and beets you get a pink color, from the juice of blueberries, pomegranate or blackcurrant - purple, and if you want to get blue or blue, then use the juice of red cabbage. Turmeric gives you a rich yellow color, while black tea or coffee gives you brown hues. After boiling the bark and branches of the cherry, you get reddish-raspberry eggs. I want to warn you that bright colors are not always obtained in this way. To make the color brighter, after boiling the eggs, you need to keep them in the broth for at least 4 hours, and it is better to leave them overnight.

Coloring eggs with beets

If you want to get the pink color of eggs, then beetroot juice is suitable for this coloring method. Dyeing eggs in a natural way takes a little more tinkering than regular paints, but if you care about your health, then this work will pay off handsomely.

Beets need to be prepared in such a way that more juice is obtained. To do this, grate the beets, pour water and cook for 5-7 minutes. You can boil eggs in the same broth. Then we wipe the beets through a strainer, we get a rich burgundy juice. Pour eggs with this juice in a separate bowl, pour 1 tbsp. l. vinegar and leave for 4-8 hours.

Coloring eggs with red cabbage juice

Red cabbage will give the eggs a blue color.

The coloring method is similar to the previous one. We cut the cabbage into large pieces, fill it with water, cook for 5-7 minutes together with the eggs, decant the hot broth into a separate bowl. Add 1 tbsp. l. vinegar and keep eggs in this broth for 4-8 hours.

How to dye eggs with turmeric

Turmeric gives perhaps the most intense color of all natural dyes. Eggs are beautiful, bright yellow.

For such painting, pour a bag of turmeric (15 gr.) into boiling water, stir and add 1 tsp. salt. We put eggs in this solution and cook for 10 minutes. In order for the paint to be brighter, leave the eggs in this solution for several hours. For shine, rub with sunflower oil.

Coloring eggs with coffee or tea

I want to warn you right away that with the help of coffee or tea, you get a not very saturated, but delicate beige color of eggs.

You can use both natural and instant coffee or black tea. For coloring, we prepare a solution - put 4-5 tbsp in boiling water. l. coffee in 0.5 liters of water. If you use tea, you will also need 4-5 tbsp. l. black tea for brewing. Cook for 5 minutes, add 1 tsp. salt and omit the eggs. Cook for another 7 minutes. And as always for natural dyes, it is advisable to keep it in the solution longer, at least 5 hours.

How to dye eggs with blueberry juice

The blueberry coloring method is similar to the previous ones. The eggs come out a beautiful purple color.

For 1 liter of water you will need 2.5-3 cups of frozen blueberries. Berries need to be boiled a little (5 minutes), pour 1 tsp. salt and omit the eggs. You can rub the blueberries through a strainer after cooking, get pure juice without berries. But I don’t bother, I just boil eggs with berries. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, pour 1 tbsp. l. vinegar to fix the color. You can leave the eggs in the pot overnight.

Decoupage Easter eggs

I learned about this method of decorating eggs quite recently, a couple of years ago, and it has become my favorite. After all, there are a lot of napkins with a variety of beautiful patterns in our stores now, you need to choose the brighter one, and then you get very beautiful and original eggs.

  1. Napkins for decoupage should be chosen with a medium-sized pattern to fit on the egg.
  2. We select white eggs for decoupage.
  3. It is better to choose napkins on a white background, then the pattern will not have to be cut very carefully with scissors.
  4. The best way to stick napkins is with egg white.

To get beautiful and whole Easter eggs, you need to remember 7 basic rules:

  1. Before boiling eggs, they need to be removed from the refrigerator a few hours in advance. Eggs should not be cold!
  2. Eggs should be boiled over low heat, avoiding cracking.
  3. So that the eggs do not burst, you need to put in water with eggs 1 tbsp. l. salt.
  4. To fix the pigment in the paint, pour 1 tsp into the coloring solution. vinegar, the color will become brighter.
  5. If you want a more intense color when coloring eggs with natural dyes, leave the eggs in the broth overnight.
  6. Wipe the dyed eggs gently with a paper towel.
  7. For shine and beauty, wipe the cooled eggs with sunflower oil.

I wish you a beautiful and delicious holiday. After all, Easter personifies the resurrection of life, nature, bright feelings. May this light come into every home and fill hearts with joy.

The simplest and, perhaps, the oldest method of making krashenka in Rus' is the option of painting eggs with the “clothes” of the bulbs. But how to paint eggs in onion skins so that they look original and bright? Modern technology offers a host of alternative options for decorating eggs for Easter - from chemical food paints to multi-colored stickers. But the use of onion peel for this purpose is the most environmentally friendly method. In addition, he captivates with the ease of the process and the realization that this is how our ancestors prepared colored eggs for Bright Sunday.

Craftsmen over the years have come up with many interesting options for how to give originality to even simple egg designs. We have collected the most unusual and interesting ways to color eggs for Easter using onion peel. Using them, you can create truly original Easter eggs that will decorate the festive table or a unique gift for your family and friends. All you need to create them is a large amount of onion peel itself, which is recommended to start collecting no later than Maslenitsa.

The classic version of how to color eggs with onion peel suggests that at the exit the hostess should get a dye with a uniformly colored surface. To do this, you will need a very small set of ingredients:

  • eggs - white or dark (at your discretion);
  • onion peel - as much as possible;
  • salt - 2 tsp;
  • sunflower oil - 2 tbsp. l.;
  • water.

The first thing to do is take the chicken eggs out of the fridge and let them warm up to room temperature. This is done because when stained with onion peel, the eggs are immediately boiled in a coloring broth. And so that the shell does not burst during cooking, it is important that there is no sharp temperature drop. If the eggs are not allowed to warm up, then there is a high risk that they will burst and the protein will acquire an ugly yellow tint at the place where the shell breaks. Also, before putting the eggs in the pan, it is recommended to wash them thoroughly and wipe them with a soft cloth.

While they are warming up (it will take at least an hour), you should start preparing the broth. You can boil the eggs at the same time as the onion skins, but in this case the color will probably turn out to be uneven. Place the onion peels collected in advance in a wide saucepan and fill with clean water. Let it brew for at least half an hour, after which you can put the pan on the stove.

When the water boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about twenty minutes. After that, remove the pan from the stove and leave to cool. Then strain the decoction, completely removing the onion peel from it so that the color lies evenly on the eggshell. In addition, this method allows you to achieve a more saturated color.

In general, the key factor in obtaining a dark color of eggs depends on how much onion skins you can collect before Easter. To achieve the most dense tone, during the preparation of the coloring broth, it is necessary that the amount of husk be so large that it will even have to be tamped in a saucepan. If such an amount has not gathered, then you can paint not white, but dark eggs.

Next step: put the broth back on the stove and add salt to it. Stir thoroughly so that the salt is completely dissolved, and lay the eggs in the pan. Boil until the eggs are fully cooked. As a rule, this takes about 12 minutes. During cooking, periodically turn the eggs with a spoon so that they are qualitatively and evenly stained on all sides.

Make sure that the water completely covers the entire surface of the shell, otherwise you will not be able to achieve an even color.

When the eggs are cooked, cover them with cold water and let cool completely. Then wipe with a cotton towel and you're essentially done. Further, if desired, they can be lubricated with sunflower oil. With this simple method, you will add a glossy sheen to the egg surface. It also makes the color more intense. But if you prefer a matte finish, then you can remove the vegetable oil from the list of ingredients for this recipe.

We get various natural shades

With a little creativity, you can get different nuances of brown using only onion skins. The whole secret lies in how long to boil the eggs in the coloring liquid. Thus, if you keep different batches in boiling broth for different times, you will be able to assemble an Easter collection that will make an interesting composition from one dominant color, but in different shades.

So, if you want to get beige eggs with a golden tint, then it is enough to boil them in the broth for no more than one minute. In this case, you have to lower almost ready-made eggs into the coloring broth. To successfully turn into a dark orange color, it is enough to boil them in a decoction of onion peel for two to three minutes, no longer. But for a more saturated brown with a red tint, you need to wait five to seven minutes before removing the eggs from the pan with natural dye.

If you managed to get a Yalta onion with a bright purple husk, then at the output you will have purple spectrum dyes.

Use the time intervals above to color the eggs in different shades of purple. By the way, if you didn’t have time to prepare the required amount of onion peel, and you don’t want to paint eggs in another way, don’t despair. Just go “hunting” to the nearest supermarkets. There, collect the ingredient you need for painting from the bottom of the boxes with onions.

Easter ombre and simple geometry

There is an opinion that it is not interesting to paint eggs with onion peel, since all eggs will be the same brown color. For creative people who are not satisfied with getting different shades of the same color, this may seem boring. But there are many interesting and simple methods that allow you to dye eggs with husks and achieve original designs.

For example, you can paint Easter eggs in an ombre style - with a tone transition from light to dark. The only difficulty with this method is that you will need to lay the eggs vertically in the bottom of the pan. Set them firmly so that they support each other.

Then pour the onion broth into the pan, just enough to cover one-third of the height of each egg. Put on the fire, wait for the water to boil, reduce the heat and let the broth boil for five minutes. Then add more broth - so that now the water covers two-thirds of the height of the eggs. Let it boil again and boil for three minutes. Finally, pour in the remaining amount of onion skin dye so that it completely covers all the eggs. Hold for a couple more minutes and pull out the krashenki. If you did everything right, then you should end up with amber-style Easter eggs - the color will cover the shell, losing its intensity towards the sharp end of the eggs.

Another simple method will allow you to make Easter eggs with drawings at home. To prepare them, you will need the following ingredients:

  • white chicken eggs - the amount depends on the volume of the pan;
  • threads or thin rubber bands;
  • salt - 2 tbsp. l.;
  • onion peel - at your discretion.

Put the onion clothes on the bottom of the pan and pour boiling water so that the water completely covers it. Let this substance brew for two to three hours. Then take eggs that have warmed to room temperature and wrap them with knitting threads or thin elastic bands. You can do this in a chaotic manner or wind the threads in the shape of a cross, or, for example, a star. Then dip the prepared eggs into a saucepan with the husks, add salt to the water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for ten minutes.

Scoop the cooked eggs out onto a plate and let cool completely. After you can remove the threads or elastic bands. Unpainted stripes will remain under them, which will form a geometric pattern. If you wish, you can combine the two methods described above to get completely unique Easter eggs, both ombré and geometric patterns.

Another variation of these methods will take a little longer. First you need to paint the eggs with a not very intense color. To do this, dip them in a coloring broth for only a minute, maximum two. Cool them and wrap them with thread, trying to create an interesting pattern. Then boil the eggs for ten minutes to get a rich brown or dark red hue.

After you remove the threads, not a white pattern will open under them, but a less contrasting beige with a golden hue. Such a tandem will look beautiful and unusual.

Vegetable motifs on the shell

The traditional themes of Easter eggs are floral drawings. They are quite easy to make if you use real plant petals, buds and small flowers. It is advisable to select textured leaves. For example, leaves of parsley, dill, dandelion and clover, inflorescences of field chamomile, lilac or any other available small flower heads will look beautiful. Easter eggs with flowers look especially cool, because when painting the shell, it is possible to convey the image of each petal.

You will also need capron. This task can be handled by unnecessary disposable tights, which should be cut into squares. The size of the flaps should be such that you can freely put eggs in their center, wrap them in a nylon bag and tie it.

Before cooking, thoroughly rinse each egg under running water and wipe with a dry cloth. Then wet each leaf or inflorescence that you want to decorate the shell with and attach to the egg in random order. Wrap it carefully in a nylon bag and tie tightly. This will securely fix the leaves. After that, as usual, boil the eggs in onion skins for about 10-12 minutes. Then cool the krashenki and pull out of the bag. Under the leaves and inflorescences, an unpainted part of the shell will remain, repeating the contours of the plant.

If you do not want to take nylon tights, then you can use bandages for this purpose. But keep in mind that you will have to work hard to securely wrap the eggs with them without displacing the leaves and inflorescences from their places. And you can do without leaves and wrap the eggs with beautiful openwork lace and secure them with threads or thin elastic bands.

In this case, their beautiful pattern will be imprinted on the surface of the shell. For this purpose, even the most primitive gauze can be used. Just wrap it around the eggs and paint as usual. With its help, it will be possible to achieve an unusual effect of a checkered surface, as if scaly. This design has been compared to dragon eggs.

In addition, you can make it easier for yourself and use small stickers in the form of flowers, stars, Easter bunnies, butterflies, capital letters XB (Christ is Risen!) and so on instead of natural plants. According to the stencil principle, after painting, light contours will remain under them.

As natural stencils for painting Easter eggs, completely different materials can be used. For example, even rice is useful to you.

A very interesting pattern is obtained if, before painting, wet eggs are thoroughly rolled in rice and then wrapped with a bandage or put in a nylon bag. After you take it out, cool the eggs and brush off the rice from them, an unusual pattern will open in front of you, slightly reminiscent of a frosty pattern on glass. It will be created by numerous specks left on the shell from rice grains. You can dream up and use other small cereals instead of rice. For example, it can be buckwheat, millet and so on. The coloring process is the same.

Marble color and picturesque patterns

You can create multi-colored dyes that will resemble stones in their appearance. It's pretty simple. After all, this requires a small amount of ingredients. The advantage of this method is that it can be resorted to if you could not collect a large amount of onion peel to dye the eggs.

How to achieve a marble effect

But before you start dyeing the eggs, you need to cut the husk into one centimeter squares. Ideally, if you can collect husks of different colors - not only golden, but also purple. After you cut the onion "clothes", soak each egg with water and carefully roll in these scraps. Then tightly wrap it in gauze folded in two layers, or nylon and tie.

It is necessary to pour brilliant green into the water in which the krashenka will be boiled. Also add salt to the solution to strengthen the shell. Next, boil the hard-boiled eggs as usual. After they are cooked, fill them with cold water and cool. Take them out of the pan with gloved hands so that your fingers do not turn green from stained gauze. Peel the shell from the husk, and an unusual surface will open before you, similar to natural marble. If desired, you can rub them with vegetable oil to add shine.

There are also quite simple ways to create whole pictures on eggshells. Depending on your artistic ability, you can draw scene pictures or images of animals in a naive style, which will also look very appropriate. Or you can limit yourself to the inscription "Christ is risen!" or an image of an Orthodox cross. All that is needed for this is to keep the eggs in onion broth, as is done with the classic painting method.

Take a needle in your hand and carefully scratch fantasy patterns or inscriptions on the shell.

Natural paint will peel off easily, revealing white lines. Of course, this method will require considerable time, but your dyes will be uniquely unique. In addition, you can involve children in such an activity, turning the process into a pleasant family pastime.

You can also take on board the option of creating patterns on eggshells using wax. First, paint the eggs in a light beige shade, for which they need to be held in onion dye for no longer than 30 seconds. Let them cool and then use hot wax to draw patterns or write good wishes on the surface.

The easiest way to draw is to melt the top of a thin church candle over the fire and draw with it. When the wax hardens, put the eggs in a concentrated onion broth and let them lie in it for two to three hours to absorb the color. After that, remove the layer of wax, under which there will be areas of light shell.

Tips for successfully dyeing eggs with onion skins

In order not to be upset because of damaged dishes, you need to take into account the fact that during the process of dyeing Easter eggs, not only the shell is painted, but also the inside of the walls of the pan. And it does not matter that we use natural dyes, which is onion peel. Therefore, before starting the process, carefully select the pan. It should be either an old container that you don’t mind spoiling, or one whose walls are well washed.

If you want to get a dye of a very saturated color, then it is important to respect the time frame. When you bring the onion peel water to a boil, be sure to reduce the heat to a minimum and let the broth simmer gently. In this mode, the onion peel should boil for at least half an hour, and preferably forty minutes. The more time you allow for this stage, the stronger the natural paint will turn out. Then strain the liquid and carefully remove even the smallest particles of the husk from it. This will be the key to uniform staining of the egg surface.

The eggs themselves also carefully examine for cracks or irregularities in the shell. If you notice such a marriage, it is better to set aside such specimens in order to use them for making salads or other dishes. But they are not suitable for festive Easter eggs. Another helpful tip: Before dyeing, wash the eggs, then degrease their shells with vinegar. This simple method will improve the ability of the shell to absorb paint, which will lay down evenly.

When the dye is ready, you can place the selected eggs in the pan. Be sure to salt the water, but do not add fire - it is better that the process proceeds at a low but constant temperature. If necessary, turn the eggs regularly to ensure they are well dyed.

In the event that you plan to create patterned options using stencils, do not forget about preliminary measures.

  1. Make sure the nylon you want to use doesn't fade when boiled. Therefore, it is better to boil a small piece of this matter in advance to check its quality. Otherwise, poor-quality material can greatly affect the dyeing process and spoil the final result, making the shell color “dirty”.
  2. But if you plan to use small stickers as stencils, do not rely on the fact that they are firmly stuck to the egg surface. Anyway, take the time and securely wrap everything with gauze or nylon to avoid possible troubles during painting.

Coloring the main Easter symbols using the old-fashioned method can be not only environmentally friendly, but also a fun process. The main advantage of the method of dyeing eggs with onion peel is its availability, because there is no need to spend money on the purchase of dyes. Yes, and stocks of onion peels will certainly always be found in the kitchen of any home.

  • onion peel - 1 l,
  • rice (groats),
  • brilliant green,
  • old nylon stockings or tights,
  • elastic bandage,

  • thread,
  • gum,
  • lace,
  • needle.

Rice

  1. Cut the stocking into pieces so that one piece fits one egg, and there are edges that can be tightly tied.
  2. Tie one end of the stocking to form a pouch.
  3. Place the egg in the bag and add the rice. Tie the bag so that the capron fits snugly around the shell.
  4. Spread the rice inside the bag with your fingers so that the grains evenly cover the entire egg.
  5. Boil the eggs in their skins according to the instructions above.
  6. When the eggs are cooked and cool, cut open the bag and rinse the eggs with cold water to wash off the rice. You will get speckled eggs. Why is rice used? Other cereals quickly boil soft and turn into porridge, leaving no clear imprints on the shell.

Leaves and flowers

  1. A popular way to color patterned eggs is to use parsley leaves.
  2. Choose beautiful neat leaves.
  3. Wet the leaf with water and attach to the shell, then fix the leaf with a nylon bag.
  4. Instead of parsley, you can use dill, cilantro, currant leaves, chamomile flowers and any other plants.
  5. The area of the shell covered by the plant material will remain unstained. The eggs will have a clear pattern with natural contours.

Paper

  1. Cut writing paper into small pieces of any shape.
  2. To make the fragments neat, first draw the outline with a simple pencil, and then cut it out. It can be abstract ornaments or thematic drawings.

Threads or rubber bands

To paint eggs with a pattern, you can do without a stocking, but take, for example, threads or elastic bands.

  1. Just wrap each egg with threads in random order - you get striped eggs.
  2. Instead of threads, you can use stationery rubber bands. Choose thicker elastic bands so that they do not burst in boiling water.
  3. Do not pull the eggs too tight - the shell may crack.

Lace

Another option is to wrap the eggs in lace. As a result, the shell will be decorated with luxurious openwork ornaments. The finer the lace, the more refined the pattern will be. Simple but cute rhombuses on the shell are obtained by placing the egg in a large grid.

With the help of onion peels, amazing drawings are made on eggs (see the photo below) - with marbled stains. You will also need an additional brilliant green solution and gauze.

  1. Grind the husk with scissors, in a blender or in a coffee grinder.
  2. Moisten raw eggs with water and roll in chopped husks.
  3. Fix the fragments of the husk with gauze or a nylon stocking. Tie the edges of the makeshift bag tightly.
  4. Boil water and add brilliant green there - from a few drops to a whole bubble. The brightness of the shade depends on the amount of greenery.
  5. Boil the eggs for 10 minutes and cool.
  6. Drain the water and carefully cut the cheesecloth. Rinse the husk off the shell with running water. It is recommended to wear gloves during this work.

To make the stains even more diverse, use the husks of different varieties of onions. Shredded writing paper can be added to the crushed husk. Please note - if there is a lot of paper, the eggs will turn out pale.

Needle

You can even apply a drawing after you have painted them with onion peel. Any ornament is simply scratched on the shell with a needle. Painted eggs can be completed with factory-made Easter-themed stickers or tied with ribbons.

gauze or bandage

You can connect your imagination and use any other materials by coloring eggs according to this principle. Instead of a stocking, gauze or a wide elastic bandage is also suitable.

  • Salt the water in which you will boil the eggs. If the shell bursts, the egg will not leak out.
  • To intensify the color, use vinegar. You can rub the egg with vinegar before dyeing, after dyeing, or add vinegar to water.
  • To make the shade evenly, wash the eggs before dyeing, using a soft sponge. You can also rub the shell with alcohol.
  • Don't boil the eggs for too long - they will taste bad. If you want to get a darker saturated color, hold the eggs after dyeing in a cold decoction of onion skins for several hours.
  • To make the eggs shine, rub the shell with vegetable oil.

That's all the tricks for creating beautiful and original Easter eggs. Onion peel is a natural dye, so all procedures are completely safe.

I want to give a master class on coloring eggs in onion skins. Experienced housewives have long been able to do this, but I’m sure there will be beginners who will find this master class a useful visual aid for painting eggs with onion peel.

I tried different ways of making Easter eggs, but not all of the existing ones, and I want to say that I like this most ancient and traditional "grandmother's" method the most, because it is environmentally friendly, safe for health, the paint from ready-made eggs does not get dirty, not afraid of water, does not dissolve.

My mother taught me how to paint eggs in onion skins, and she, in turn, was taught by her mother, or my grandmother.

Today I'll show you the easiest and most traditional way to dye Easter eggs with onion husks. To decorate them even more interesting, you can, for example, parsley.

For work we need:

  1. Saucepan (preferably old) with a capacity of 1 ... 1.5 liters
  2. Onion peel (tightly packed 0.5 liter jar)
  3. Water 1 liter
  4. 1 tbsp salt
  5. raw eggs
  6. For additional decoration, you can use shrink labels or sticky appliqué stickers.

Painting Easter eggs in onion skins is absolutely simple, but it takes a little longer than just boiling eggs. And for this, we need to stock up on onion peel in sufficient quantities long before Easter approaches. I start collecting onion peels immediately after the New Year - onions are especially actively consumed by this holiday, so I select all the dry peels and do not throw them away, but put them in a plastic bag and keep it somewhere in the closet under the sink (so that the bag is always at hand and it was convenient and not too lazy to get it to put the next portion of the husk when peeling vegetables).

How to boil eggs for Easter in the husk

When Easter comes, I take out my “reserves” and transfer them to a small saucepan - it is necessary to prepare a concentrated decoction of onion peel. It is better to take dishes of a small volume so that the paint is saturated. In this master class, I used a 1 liter pan. I transfer the dry husks to the pan - it is very naughty, it does not fit well, and strives to scatter around. But here you need to make an effort to crush the husk, press it and put it in a saucepan. In principle, you can take a larger pot, but use no more than 1 ... 1.2 liters of water.

When you fill the dry husk with water, it becomes more docile, gets wet and settles in the pan. Now just put this "broth" on the fire and bring to a boil. Make sure that water does not run onto the stove, although the decoction is washed off the white surface of the stove well without leaving stains. When our coloring solution-decoction based on onion peel boils, you can boil it for 5 minutes and remove from heat.

To paint eggs for Easter with husks, let the coloring broth cool a little (you can boil the husk in the evening and paint the eggs in the morning). Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the pot with the broth so that the eggs do not burst during the cooking process.

We prepare the eggs for painting: wash thoroughly under water so that the surface is well cleaned. If a decoction of onion peel was prepared in the evening, then the paint is well infused and will take well, so part of the onion peel can be unloaded from the pan, squeezing the paint well, and discarded. If the decoction is freshly prepared, do not rush to throw away the husk. It is better to let it take place in the pan, and we will paint the eggs by loading in small portions in turn, not all at once, but how much will fit in the pan with onion peel. We put it on the fire to boil.

We boil the eggs for at least 10 minutes, gently turning with a spoon, “wiggle” so that the husk does not stick too tightly to the shell in places, otherwise unpainted spots will remain. Usually the first 5 minutes the eggs do not stain well, and it seems that the case is a pipe. Don't worry, the first batch of eggs loaded into the paint may take a little longer to boil - 20-30 minutes instead of 10. When the paint picks up temperature, things will go faster.

We catch the finished krashenki with a spoon and put them on a plate. The uniformity of the painted surface also depends on the timely “stirring” of the eggs with a spoon during the cooking process, and on the initial quality of the shell processing, and on natural “defects”.

To avoid such divorces at all, it is better to cook it in the evening, and strain the broth before boiling the eggs.

Additionally, shrink labels can be used to decorate Easter eggs.

How to use them - the instructions are indicated on the package: cut the film at the junctions of the ornament, put it on the dye, put it in a spoon and lower it into boiling water over a fire (preferably in a wide bowl, poured to a height of 6-7 cm). Hold for 30 seconds until the label sits firmly on the egg.

Now you know how to paint eggs for Easter in onion skins - an old and proven way.
