Fish contains many nutrients, so it is simply indispensable for a child (more in the article:)

Usually, fish meat is introduced into the diet of babies at the age of 1-1.5 years. At this time, they gradually get acquainted with the food familiar to adults. It is best to start cooking minced fish. Chewing such food will not cause any special difficulties in children. If fish is not an allergen for a child, it can be given to a one and a half year old baby no more than twice in a seven-day period. It is undesirable to combine fish and meat products on the same day. This greatly overloads the digestive system of the little one.

To cook fish cakes for young children, especially one-year-olds, you should choose varieties with a minimum fat content, for example:

  • pollock;
  • bearing;
  • zander;
  • cod;
  • pink salmon;
  • crucian carp;
  • carp and others.

It is advisable to use a chilled product. Before passing the fish through a meat grinder, it is necessary to check and remove even the smallest bones from it.

For children, you need to choose low-fat varieties of fish

Bon appetit!

There are many minced meat dishes in the child's diet. It is difficult for a child up to a year to chew large pieces, so cutlets and meatballs are your option.

Our expert, pediatric nutritionist Nancy Bute:

Meat is a source of complete protein, iron, vitamins and other trace elements. Meat-based complementary foods should be introduced into the diet of a breastfed child from the 8th month of life, and for an artificial mother - from the 7th. Mashed beef, chicken, piglet, pork, lamb, turkey, and veal are acceptable choices for these age groups. If, for some reason, meat is temporarily absent from the child's diet, then when preparing vegetarian dishes, attention should be paid to alternative sources of protein - beans and lentils.

Meatballs and cutlets for a child

To make cutlets and meatballs tender and juicy, choose a fresh tenderloin. Then remove the fat and tendons, remove the films and divide into small pieces.

  • Pass the meat through a meat grinder, salt and mix.
  • To prepare cutlets, additionally chop the onion, add a roll (without a crust), soaked in milk or water. Bread and onions in this mass should not exceed 20-30%.
  • Diversify the taste by adding rice, buckwheat or corn grits (pre-boiled) or carrots.
  • If you are cooking steam meatballs, you can put beaten egg whites, butter, and pour milk into the minced meat.

Do not store this mixture in the refrigerator, but use it immediately for cooking.

Side dish for meat dishes in baby food

Meat, when successfully combined with other products, is completely absorbed, gives the child a charge of vivacity, and contributes to normal growth.

Potatoes, which are usually served with meat, are not the best solution. It can make digestion difficult. It is better to serve other vegetables with cutlets - carrots, beets, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower, zucchini. Bake them in the oven, boil them, steam them, and let some fresh (separately or in a salad).

Porridge on the water or vermicelli also work great as a side dish. Only they should be given to the child in small portions, because such dishes are very satisfying.

Does the child ask for supplements? Don't refuse him. Only the second time put quite a bit of food on the plate.

If the child does not eat meat

If the child does not eat meat, try to change the situation with the help of small culinary tricks.

A great solution for a children's menu - meat puddings, pies, rolls, quenelles, soufflés and stuffed vegetables. Most likely, the child will be pleased! Make homemade dumplings and cabbage rolls too. The child will like such food: they are tasty, and it is interesting to eat them. Just do not forget that children should not be fried. Nutritionists advise only lightly fry the meat, and then stew it over low heat with sour cream.

Children need to add meat to the diet about twice a week. Meals for children should be not only tasty, but also healthy. Therefore, in children's recipes there are no hot spices, instead of frying, steaming and baking are used. In order for the baby to eat with pleasure, you need to show imagination in decorating the dish, making it interesting.
