The best alcoholic cocktail recipes. Recipes for simple alcoholic cocktails for a home party with a photo

Cocktails are the mixing of several drinks with the addition of spices, salt and other ingredients. Sometimes the composition includes alcohol and ice. Ideally, a cocktail should have at least five ingredients.

The most delicious alcoholic cocktails

Each alcoholic cocktail contains, in addition to one or more ingredients, also alcoholic beverages. There are several legends about where the alcoholic cocktail first appeared and what is the history of its origin.

Among the most delicious is the Mojito cocktail. Its base is white rum and mint leaves. For the first time such a drink appeared in Cuba, and in the eighties it became very popular in America. In addition to rum and mint, it contains soda, sugar and lime.

"Blue Lagoon" is the name of another delicious cocktail. It is believed that lovers of this drink are bright and outstanding people. It was invented in one of the bars in London. With a tropical taste, the drink is able to create an exotic atmosphere.

One of the most popular cocktails, especially among women, is called Pina Colada. He is the pride of Puerto Ricans, who came up with his recipe. Once upon a time, strained pineapple juice was called pina colada, but later rum and sugar were added to it. The final recipe came from a Puerto Rican bar. The composition of the drink included pineapple juice, rum and coconut liqueur.

One of the summer drinks is the Margarita cocktail. This cocktail is often shown in films. It is based on tequila, which is why almost half of Mexican cities claim to be the “discoverer” of this drink.

“Sex on the Beach”, “Bloody Mary”, “Long Island”, “B-52”, “Cuba Libre” and some others are also recognized as delicious alcoholic cocktails. It was Cuba Libre that became one of the most popular drinks, having appeared for the first time during the years of the Spanish-American war. It is a cola with rum and ice.

The secrets of the most delicious cocktail recipes

To prepare "Mojito", you need to add lime juice to sugar, tear mint leaves. Put it all in a tall glass. Then add crushed ice and rum and soda. It is known that lovers add apple or orange juice to the classic Mojito recipe, you can add strawberries. This drink has a lot of options.

To prepare the Blue Lagoon, you can not do without the following ingredients: Curacao blue liqueur, lemon and pineapple juice, Bacardi rum, sugar syrup and ice. In the classic version, a pineapple segment, a mint leaf and a cocktail cherry are used for serving.

Delicious non-alcoholic cocktails

Not everyone drinks alcohol. There are many non-alcoholic recipes for them. So, an alternative to "Bloody Mary" is "Virgin Mary", which is prepared according to the same recipe, but without the addition of alcohol.

The very popular alcoholic Mojito can be replaced with an equally delicious non-alcoholic one. To do this, in the recipe, white rum is replaced with water with cane sugar.

One of the most delicious drinks is Pina Colada, it can be prepared in a non-alcoholic version. For this, white rum is simply not added during its preparation.

There are non-alcoholic cocktails that are not an alternative to the alcoholic ones of the same name. Many of them are made with milk. These are the delicious banana and kiwi milkshake and cherry milkshake. A tropical cocktail deserves attention - a mixture of bananas, kiwi, oranges with apple juice, natural yogurt and milk chocolate. Shirley Temple is recognized as a delicious classic non-alcoholic cocktail. It consists of ginger ale, grenadine and lemon juice.

Egg Nogg is another noteworthy non-alcoholic cocktail. To prepare it, eggs are beaten into foam, combined with sugar syrup and fine sugar, vanilla extract, cloves and cardamom, and then milk is gently introduced. There are many delicious non-alcoholic recipes. This list could be continued.

The most delicious cocktail in the world

The confident leader among cocktails in popularity is the Bloody Mary. The history of its origin is surrounded by a considerable number of various legends and secrets. It is known that for Scott Fitzgerald, as well as for Ernest Hemingway, this cocktail was a favorite.

It was first prepared at the beginning of the last century by the bartender Fernando Petio. At first, the recipe for the drink was very primitive - it was prepared by mixing vodka with tomato juice. Fifteen years later, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, pepper and salt were added to it. Sometimes Tabasco sauce is also added in a small amount. Vodka can be replaced with tequila, as well as add horseradish.

But so far not a single cocktail can be compared in price with the most expensive wine. According to the editors of the site, the cost of one bottle can reach up to a quarter of a million dollars.

Fortunately, there are many such recipes - and not being an expert in this matter, I bring to your attention the translation of the extensive work that was done by the staff of the excellent Serious Eats portal. This article contains 35 (!) recipes and photos of simple cocktails, any of which require no more than 3 ingredients. But if making all these cocktails at home is very simple, then finding some ingredients can be difficult: you probably won’t find them in a convenience store, so specialty stores or departments of large supermarkets will come to your aid.

For those who are new to the cocktail business, I have compiled below a few of the terms used in the article. If at least a couple of them are unfamiliar to you, I recommend that you study the "Foreword" before you start reading.

Champagne glass- a tall and thin flute glass on a leg.

dash is a measure of volume. It does not have an exact reference to liters (data from different sources are in the range from 0.5 to 1 ml), this is, conditionally, one “bulk” of a bitter or other drink when poured through a dispenser on a bottle.

cocktail glass- a glass on a leg with a bowl in the shape of an inverted cone. It differs from a martini glass in the smaller volume of the bowl, which may have a flatter bottom.

Madler A bartender's tool for kneading ingredients to release their flavors. You can replace it with a pestle or, at worst, with a regular spoon.

Mixing glass- a bartender's tool, a capacious glass, sometimes with risks on which the volume is indicated, and a spout for pouring a cocktail into glasses. Can be replaced with any capacious beer glass.

Strainer- a bartender's tool for straining a cocktail to remove ice and solid ingredients. In most cases, it can be replaced with a regular strainer.

old fashion- a low and wide glass, in which whiskey and many classic cocktails are usually served.

Ounce- a unit of measurement of mass, as well as volume of liquids. Initially, all proportions in this article are in ounces, a fluid ounce in the US is equal to 30 ml, so don't be surprised by volumes like 22.5 ml: it's only 3/4 ounce.

highball- a glass expanding upwards, narrower and taller than old fashion.

Shaker- a bartender's tool with a closing lid, in which cocktails are shaken for better mixing and cooling. If you are not a real bartender, you can replace the shaker with any metal vessel with a lid, or use a mixing glass instead (see above).

Gin Cocktails

Martini
Martini

A classic cocktail, one of the most popular cocktails that uses gin. Known variations are "Kangaroo" (replace gin with vodka), "Churchill's Martini" (the same, but without vermouth).

Sherry Martini
sherry martini

Sherry, like vermouth, is a fortified wine, but it does not contain herbs and spices, so the uniqueness of sherry lies in the wine itself. Martini with sherry acquires salty and nutty notes. This cocktail does not need decoration, but a slice of Iberico will help to emphasize its taste.

green ghost
Green Ghost

The younger brother of the famous Last Word cocktail, which uses maraschino liqueur. Green Ghost doesn't need a maraschino, but it does need a green Chartreuse liqueur, whose grassy notes go great with the flavor of gin and the liveliness of lime.

Obituary
Obituary

If you like martinis, then you'll love the Obituary too: it starts with gin and vermouth, to which absinthe or pastis are added, their aniseed aromas bringing to life the grassy aromas of other ingredients.

Negroni
Negroni

If you don’t shy away from cocktails in principle, then you are definitely familiar with the Negroni. This cocktail has hundreds of different variations, but even the classic recipe leaves a lot of room for experimentation: try, for example, using a stronger “navy” gin, choosing your favorite amaro instead of the classic, or playing with proportions.

White Negroni
White Negroni

In this variation on the classic Negroni, the proportions are changed, and a different bitter liquor is used instead of the Italian amaro. It makes sense to change the proportions to your taste, depending on which of the bitters you can find.

Frozen Negroni
Frozen Negroni

In fact, this is the same Negroni, only adapted to your blender. By freezing the ingredients ahead of time, you slow down the melting of the ice, so the drink will retain its flavor longer, and the ratio of the ingredients deviates from the classic proportions for a better balance of flavors, taking into account the serving temperature.

Auld Draper
Old Merchant

An aperitif based on red wine with the addition of cinchona bark was invented in the middle of the 19th century by two cloth merchants from the French city of Thuir - hence the name of the cocktail. If you manage to find this cinchona tincture, you can drink it not only without additives, but also mixed with gin to make a cocktail with hints of coffee and noble bitterness.

Brown Gin
Brown Gin

In the 19th century, sailors of the British Navy treated seasickness with angostura, and since it is quite difficult to drink bitters without additives, they mixed it with gin. Thus was born this cocktail, which is now added with a piece of zest for a light citrus aroma.

whiskey cocktails

old fashioned
Old Fashion

Old Fashioned is one of those drinks that proves that a good cocktail doesn't have to be complicated. All you need is sugar, bitters and whiskey: Bourbon or rye whiskey is usually used, but you can experiment with other varieties of this drink, as well as aged tequila or rum.

Frisco Sour
Frisco Sour

Benedictine liqueur has a sweetish, slightly grassy taste, and goes well with whiskey. A couple of drops of bitters make this an Old Fashioned variation, where the sugar is replaced with Benedictine and the lemon juice is there to balance the taste.

Boulevardier
Boulevardier

As the most famous variation on the Negroni theme, the Boulevardier is nonetheless worthy of attention in its own right: the combination of whiskey, amaro and sweet vermouth make this cocktail one of the most delicious and simple cocktails.

Man About Town
Playboy

Another variation on the Negroni theme from the New York Gramercy Tavern. The bartenders there use more whiskey and also use artichoke amaro from Sicily.

Manhattan
Manhattan

A classic cocktail where spicy rye whiskey and sweet vermouth meet, and angostura ties them together. You can decorate the cocktail with a cherry in brandy or a piece of lemon zest.

Rob Roy
Rob Roy

A variation of the Manhattan cocktail that uses scotch. It is not necessary to take an expensive single malt - any decent blend goes well with sweet vermouth. If until now you have not been a fan of vermouths, try opening a fresh bottle - perhaps the whole point is that before that you only drank stale.

Gold Rush
Golden fever

Despite the name, which refers to the 19th century, this cocktail was invented in the mid-2000s. For honey syrup, combine a glass of water and a glass of honey and heat, stirring, over medium heat until the honey dissolves, cool and store in the refrigerator.

Blushing Betty
Blushing Betty

This simple cocktail has the flavor of a grapefruit cut in half, generously sprinkled with sugar and grilled. Grill is not needed: the missing caramel notes are brought in by bourbon. In order to prepare the syrup, combine a glass of water and a glass of sugar and heat, stirring, over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, cool and store in the refrigerator.

Moto Guzzi
Moto Guzzi

Another variety of Manhattan, the easiest to prepare. It uses red Piedmontese vermouth, especially bitter: it is good on its own, and in alliance with bourbon does not even require the addition of bitters.

tequila cocktails

margarita
margarita

To be known as an experienced cocktail mixer, you just need to learn how to make a good Margarita. There are many classic recipes for this cocktail, they all revolve around the right balance of good tequila, lime and salt - but sugar, if you took a good liquor, you do not need at all.

Cocktails with rum and cachaca

Daiquiri
Daiquiri

A little lime, a little sugar - and the rum is literally transformed! Daiquiri is especially good in hot weather, and if you use a blender (see Frozen Negroni recipe), you will get a completely different refreshing cocktail with the same ingredients.

Cuba Libre
Cuba Libre

The right Cuba Libre cocktail is more than just rum and cola, especially if you add a squeezed lemon slice so that the cocktail contains not only its juice, but also essential ones. Good with both aged rum and inexpensive.

Barbados Cocktail
Barbados

A dark rum, falernum liqueur, which is known for its balanced flavor of lime and spices - and is ready for a simple and relaxing cocktail with a distinct aroma of tropical islands. A little alcoholic, a little sweet, a little sour, everything in moderation, in a word, the perfect summer cocktail.

Dark & Stormy
Dark End Stormy

A beach vacation wouldn't be complete without this cocktail, which requires dark rum, lime juice, and ginger beer (in case you're not in the know, ginger beer is not beer). Served in layers, but before tasting, it is better to mix - you are unlikely to like pure lime juice.

Caipirinha
Caipirinha

Caipirinha is the cousin of the Daiquiri, native to Brazil. The base for the cocktail is about the same, only in Caipirinha cachaca is used instead of rum. Caipirinha is now one of the most popular cocktails in the world.

Cocktails with vodka

Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby

In the Bordeaux village of Podenzac, they make a special aperitif, which consists of 85% local wines, and 15% a mixture of various liqueurs, mainly citrus fruits. If you manage to find one, consider that you have a cocktail ready for a light snack before dinner or for Sunday brunch.

Moscow Mule
Moscow Mule

A classic drink for those who do not consider themselves a big fan of vodka. Western ideas about how they drink vodka in Moscow have made a copper mug a classic glass for serving this cocktail, but you can use half a shaker or a regular glass instead.

brandy cocktails

side car
Sidecar

The sidecar, which can be called a version of Margarita with cognac instead of tequila and lemon instead of lime, is much less popular. However, if you like Margarita, you should also try Sidecar, it is a warming and tasty cocktail, especially if you take a good cognac.

Japanese Cocktail
Japanese Cocktail

Although the popularity of cognac in the world of cocktails is a relatively recent phenomenon, this cocktail is by no means a novelty: it has been known since at least 1862. For it you will need almond syrup - not the most common product, so it is better to order it online or make it at home.

Aperitifs, amaro, sparkling wine and more…

Adriatic
Adriatic

At first glance, it may seem that all cocktails are similar to each other, but this one is quite special. Amaro and Aperol create a bitter and sweet base that brings out the orange juice in a new way. This cocktail is the perfect aperitif, and since it is quite light, it makes sense to mix a whole jug at once.

Campari Spritz
Campari Syringe

A shaker (from the English word "shake") is designed to mix products that are not close to each other in their structure (syrups, liqueurs, eggs, cream, etc.), as well as to simply cool one or more drink components. There are various variations of shakers in the world, both real masterpieces and very simple home-type plastic models. Detailed information about the shaker can be found in the history of the shaker.

On a note:
* The statement that a shaker with ice must be shaken for a long time is erroneous. As a result of long shaking, as well as a small amount of ice, it will quickly break up and turn into water. Water is likely to change the final taste of the drink, and in a negative way. Professional bartenders determine the process of melting ice in a shaker by the sound.
* Never pour fizzy drinks into a shaker.
* Each bartender may have their own unique style of mixing a cocktail in a shaker, but there are some rules. In order to mix the components as quickly and efficiently as possible, the movement of ice in the shaker should be along a horizontal or vertical path (in the given example, the direction is from the bottom of the mix-glass to the lid). That is, it is not worth rocking the shaker like a roly-poly doll.

Preparation of a cocktail in an "Old-fashioned" / Classic shaker

Classic or "Old Fashioned" shaker consists of three parts:

1) Fill 1/3 mix-glass with ice

2) Pour ingredients over ice

3) Put a strainer, lid on the shaker and shake the contents

4) Strain the drink into a serving dish

Sometimes, after preparing a cocktail, it is difficult to open the lid of a metal shaker. The fact is that under the influence of ice, the metal quickly cools and changes its shape. Professional bartenders recommend pre-cooling the shaker by filling the mix glass with ice. Immediately before preparing a cocktail, the ice is changed or the resulting water is drained. Remember, in a pre-chilled shaker, the ice melts much more slowly, and the taste of the cocktail from a professional taster's point will be much better.

Making Cocktails at the Boston Shaker

The Boston Shaker is a working tool for progressive bartenders, it is much more effective than the Old Fashioned Shaker.

"Boston" shaker consists of:

An integral part of the "Boston" shaker - strainer
(strainer to separate liquid from ice) and a bar spoon

Preparation of a cocktail in the "Boston" shaker

1) Fill both mixing glasses 2/3 full with ice.

2) Stir the ice with a bar spoon, thus chilling both mix glasses.

* These are the basic rules for making a cocktail in a Boston shaker. But life is easier. It is not necessary to cool the mix glasses with a bar spoon, but nevertheless, it is necessary to cool them so that after mixing the mix glasses can be separated. In the same way, liquid can be separated from ice without a strainer.

Do not forget, the main thing is the quality of the cocktail. Therefore, use the rules for preparing in a shaker as a basis for experimentation. If you have an idea on how to make shaker cooking more attractive and stylish, share it.

The main difference and advantage of the "Boston" shaker from the "Old Fashioned" is the quality of the final product. During preparation in the "Boston" shaker, the appearance of water in the cocktail is practically excluded, since the components are in a mix glass without ice before shaking. In turn, in the "Old Fashioned" shaker, the components are usually poured over ice, which immediately begins to melt.

On a note:
After use, rinse the shaker under running water and store open.
* Many cocktails are served without ice. In these cases, it is useful to know that the cocktail will retain its excellent qualities longer if the serving dish is pre-cooled. Just fill a glass or glass with ice, stir it and pour it out just before pouring the cocktail.
