To do this, grate the citrus peel on a fine grater and add to the pumpkin. There we will introduce cloves, honey and cinnamon. Mix everything thoroughly and put in the microwave for a minute so that the pumpkin gives juice and the honey dissolves.

Then we take the flour and sift (so the cakes will turn out tender and airy). Add baking powder to it. Gradually add flour to pumpkin. Mix until smooth. Add raisins and mix again. Before using dried fruits, they should be placed in boiling water for 15 minutes to soften.

I never wrote comments, but here I could not resist and even registered to upload a photo with my first result. I don't bake very often and I don't have much experience. But of all my experiments with cakes and pies, this one is the most delicious so far, my husband said. I gave it to my parents, they liked it too. And I liked that the recipe is sooooo simple, the products are all available, you don’t need a lot. indeed, completely without problems - I mixed the dry ingredients, poured warm milk, stirred a little and into the oven preheated to the specified temperature (180 degrees) - maybe someone didn’t rise here because the oven was cold ... I kept it there, as it is written , 40 minutes, then opened it, pierced it with a toothpick - not a dry, even a little wet biscuit, but baked evenly, rose, held it for a maximum of five minutes, so as not to overdry, and took it out. The only thing is that in order for the cake to move away better, I lubricated the form (I have a glass one, I read it, it doesn’t burn in this one, so I bought it) with butter and sprinkled with a little flour. With the cream, there was also the question of how much to keep on fire (for the first time I did this), but in the process it became clear that it had thickened moderately, which means it was ready, it also turned out to be very easy to cook it. Now I decided to make this cake again (both my husband and I bought milk so that it wouldn’t be lost, especially cocoa left), so I went here to remember the proportions, saw the negative reviews and I’m wondering where, sorry, my hands should grow so that it doesn’t work out, did not rise (maybe it was not necessary to open the oven in the process, I read that the biscuit falls because of this), did not bake (that they could not bake for two hours !!! - so this is most likely a faulty oven, this simply cannot be ) and was like rubber (I have the most tender and softest! Perhaps you really had a bad baking powder, otherwise it’s hard to explain, because even a child can do this cake and it’s very difficult to spoil it). With the ingredients and their quantity, everything is very clear. The biscuit is delicious on its own. It's also delicious with cream, but next time I'll try to make a different cream, just for fun. Or maybe today I will experiment with the cream while the dough is being baked. If anything - unsubscribe. By the way, we tried this cake right away, still warm - we liked it (it’s still warm in the photo, the cream didn’t freeze, it didn’t soak). The next day they ate from the refrigerator - my husband said it tasted better) The cake is very sweet for me (you can safely drink tea without sugar), but this makes it no less tasty, a milky biscuit with cocoa flavor (there was also an idea to add a little coffee for additional flavor, perhaps , I'll do that now). Why is Crazy Cake called that way? It is unlikely that anyone will be able to remember the origins of this original name. But we can assume that the cake is called crazy due to its incredible taste. After all, if you try a piece of chocolate cake, and then find out that there are no eggs or dairy products among the ingredients, you will most likely confirm that this is an insanely delicious cake! Insanely delicious or crazy delicious - it doesn't matter! The main thing is that even in a difficult period of time, sweet teeth always had the opportunity to treat themselves to a piece of chocolate pie.

So, to prepare Crazy Cake you will need:

  • 1 1/2 tbsp. flour
  • 1 st. sugar (it will be very sweet)
  • 4 tbsp. l. with a heap of cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 st. water
  • 4-5 art. l. vegetable oil without a bright taste (refined sunflower, olive). It will turn out very tasty with coconut oil, but it was not in the original recipe.

Step by Step Vegan Chocolate Crazy Cake Recipe

Turn on the oven, and while it is heating, mix all the dry ingredients in a deep bowl (or in a baking dish). Then add vegetable oil and vinegar, mix thoroughly.


Pour water into the dough and mix everything again with a whisk, breaking up all the lumps. You should get a homogeneous, thick mass. Pour the chocolate batter into a baking dish. You do not need to beat the dough hard, the main thing is to break the lumps.


Put the mold in the oven and bake until fully cooked - 40 minutes at 180C. Readiness can be checked in the usual way: stick a match (with the side without sulfur) or a toothpick into the dough - if nothing sticks to a wooden stick, then the cake is ready. If the cake has risen well and turned out to be high, then it can be cut into two cakes and soaked with cream. The American Crazy Cake recipe does not provide for this option. But you will only win if you smear the shortcakes with whipped banana cream with cocoa!


So, at this stage, the cake is already ready to be eaten. But if you still decide to continue and slightly improve the recipe, then beat 1 ripe banana with 0.5 tsp. cocoa and grease the shortbread with a thin layer.
