Compote of dried apricots, prunes and raisins recipe. Compote of dried apricots and prunes: recipe, ingredients, taste, benefits, nuances and secrets of cooking

Dried fruit compote is perhaps the most delicious. We love it for its rich color and taste. Fresh berries in our region do not grow all year round, but dried fruit compote can be cooked at least every day. Delicious and healthy (with reasonable use of sugar).

Compote of prunes and dried apricots

It is very convenient to prepare a drink from dried fruits in a slow cooker in the evening, in it, like in a thermos, it will be well infused and will have a rich color. You can use ready-made dry compotes for cooking, which include dried apples, raisins, pears, cherries, plums and apricots. Today, we will prepare compote only from prunes and dried apricots in the traditional way, for the reason that we will then prepare children's prunes puree from boiled fruits.

Ingredients:

  • Water - 2 liters.,
  • Prunes - 150 gr.,
  • Dried apricots - 8-10 pcs.,
  • Lemon - slice.
  • Sugar - to taste (1/2 - 1 cup).

Cooking process:

Dried apricots and prunes with pits will give compote a richer taste and aroma, but then the process of making mashed potatoes from them will be more time-consuming. It is for this reason that we do not use dried apples today.

Wash dried fruits thoroughly, put in a saucepan.

Fill with cold water and put on fire.

When the compote starts to boil, add sugar.

Mix everything well and add a slice of lemon.

We reduce the fire to a minimum and leave our compote to languish for 30-40 minutes so that the berries steam out and give all their flavor and vitamins to the compote.

When the compote is cooked, let it cool down. During this time, it will become even darker and richer.

From prunes and dried apricots in a slow cooker, you can cook on the “stewing” program for 2-3 hours, pour stone fruits with boiling water. You can lay compote in the evening, by morning it will be well infused.

The compote is tasty and rich. My child drinks it with great pleasure.

Enjoy your meal!

I do not throw away prunes and dried apricots that remain from the compote. You can just eat them, you can prepare the filling for pies or pies. And I do it for my son. I used to buy prune and dried apricot puree in the store, but now I started making it myself. Everything is very simple - I spread the berries from the compote and use a blender to grind to a puree consistency. And it turns out very tasty, and in my opinion, more useful than in jars. After all, you don’t even need to add sugar to it, it is absorbed into the berries from the compote.

We thank Svetlana Burova for the recipe and step-by-step photos of compote preparation.

Compote of dried apricots and raisins is a delicious vitamin drink available all year round. There is no need to waste time rolling jars when you have a linen bag of dried fruit on hand.

Compote of dried apricots and raisins does not provoke weight gain, unlike sweet carbonated drinks. A pleasant-tasting and fragrant drink strengthens the immune system no worse than trendy vitamin supplements. Raisins, even when cooked, can fight colds. Compote of dried apricots and raisins has a beneficial effect on the digestive system.

There is a paradox in recipes with dried fruits: the more unsightly the dried fruit looks, the tastier and healthier it is (we are talking, of course, only about an unspoiled fresh product, without rot and stains).

Ready dried apricot compote with raisins can be stored in a saucepan with a lid or in a closed glass jar in the refrigerator for three days. It is better to cook a little compote, as it is most useful 12 hours after cooking. For greater sweetness, prunes can be added to the compote, and rose hips for color and vitamins. For a slight sourness and enrichment with vitamin C, you can pour a tablespoon of lemon juice into a chilled compote.

Raisins are dried or dried grape berries from certain grape varieties, a very useful product that contains many useful substances. Using raisins as the main component, you can cook delicious and healthy compotes, which are very fond of both children and adults. Other dried fruits can be used to prepare such compotes, they are also very useful.

We'll tell you how to cook dried apricots and prunes. In the process of preparing dried fruits from fresh fruits, an inevitable change in the structure of the fruit flesh occurs, which is not bad at all, since the product in a new form acquires new useful properties.

Unfortunately, currently some unscrupulous producers and distributors, in the pursuit of profit and preservation of a better appearance, as well as extending the shelf life of dried fruits during production, during storage or before sale, treat dried fruits with unhealthy chemicals (for example, glycerin for shine). When you come to the market or to the store, keep in mind that the most beautiful shiny dried fruits are processed with chemicals. High-quality dried fruits look inconspicuous, they have a natural, as it were, dusty coating.

Compote of raisins, dried apricots, prunes and dried apples

  • raisins - 200 g;
  • dried apricots - 200 g;
  • prunes - 200 g;
  • dried apples (as well as pears and quince in the form of slices) - 200 g;
  • natural honey or sugar;
  • water - 2-3 l;
  • lemon juice.

Cooking

Dried fruits should be washed with running water. If you are not sure about the absence of chemical treatment, then hot water from a kettle. Next, put in boiling water for 10 minutes, then remove the bones.

All dried fruits prepared in this way are placed in a saucepan, or better, in a ceramic container and poured with boiling water. Cover with a lid and leave in a cool place for 4-8 hours. Then bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 3 minutes, no more. If you cook longer, we will inevitably lose in usefulness, because during long heat treatment at temperatures above 85 degrees C, many useful substances contained in dried fruits are destroyed.

If possible, it is better to place a pot with an infusion of dried fruits (along with them) in a water bath for 20 minutes. By acting in such ways, we will get a really healthy compote of raisins and / or other dried fruits. When the temperature of the finished compote is below 30-40 degrees, you can add honey or sugar to it. Sugar can also be added to hot compote, but honey forms harmful substances when heated. Adding lemon juice will give the compote a pleasant sourness.
