Halloween cocktails are insidious and terrible! Eight Best Halloween Cocktails A Bloody Mary for a Vampire.

Twenty years ago, the word "Halloween" among our compatriots was associated either with the horror film of the same name, or with the killer rock band "Helloween". Halloween isn't just about spooky costumes, it's about spooky food and drinks, too! Moreover, everything is terrible in them: both the names and the appearance. For example, a bloody eye cocktail decoration looks creepy but is easy to make. We take a radish and peel the skin so that red streaks remain on a white background. Cut out the center to size olives. Stuff the olive with red pepper or blueberries. We collect our bloody eye: insert an olive into a radish and prick this structure on a cocktail stick.

Well, the classics of the genre - bloody smudges - it's generally simple. Mix bright red opaque juice with swollen gelatin, heat until the gelatin dissolves and cool slightly. Dip the edges of the glasses in the resulting "blood" and quickly turn over so that drops flow picturesquely down the glass. To enhance the resemblance, put a few bruises on the walls of the glasses and put the glasses in the refrigerator.

Bright red grenadine syrup will help you turn even an ordinary glass of vodka into a vampire drink: pour the grenadine into the bottom of the glass, put ice and carefully pour in the vodka so that the grenadine remains at the bottom.

Halloween cocktails must be in incredible colors! Celebrated on the last day of October, Halloween is a fun carnival designed to imitate visits to our world by the spirits of the dead and various other evil spirits. Ever since the time of the ancient Celts who lived in the British Isles, this holiday, which marked the end of the agricultural year, was accompanied by the drinking of specially prepared ritual drinks.

Today's lovers of Halloween fun, often forgetting traditional Celtic recipes, are inventing more and more new drinks that allow you to relax at a friendly party and at the same time correspond to the spirit of this unusual holiday.

Thus, when preparing for Halloween, it is important to know not only what people drank on this day hundreds and even thousands of years ago, but also how to create something new.

The essence of the holiday and its traditions

Once the celebration of Halloween, among other things, was associated with the end of the harvest of apples. Therefore, it is not surprising that the only traditional Halloween drink known to us - lembswool - is prepared on the basis of baked apples and apple cider. Whole or crushed baked apples, placed in a punch bowl, are poured with warmed cider (in a non-alcoholic version - ginger ale), flavored with sugar and various spices, and in this form are served at the festive table.

Since, with the light hand of Americans, a pumpkin has become an invariable attribute and symbol of Halloween, from which frightening Jack-o'-lanterns are carved everywhere, pumpkin juice (for children) and Pumpkin Martini (for adults) were among the popular drinks for this holiday.

By the way, before Halloween traditions, along with Scottish and Irish settlers, migrated across the ocean, turnips were a traditional material for making frightening-looking lanterns, designed to drive away evil spirits and show the souls of the dead the way to purgatory. According to an Irish legend, it was from her that the cunning and drunkard, the blacksmith Jack, who managed to circle the master of the underworld himself around his finger, cut out a lamp in which he hid a particle of hellish flame, in the vain hope of finding the path leading from hell to paradise by its light.

But back to drinks made from pumpkin, which once and for all replaced the less spectacular and more expensive turnip. Tasty and healthy pumpkin juice can be served both in pure form and mixed with carrot or apple juice. As for the Halloween martini, this drink is based on pumpkin and cream liqueurs, as well as vanilla vodka, although some lovers of this drink replace vodka with spiced rum, and pumpkin liqueur with raw pumpkin puree.

Given the creepy-mystical surroundings of Halloween, the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks offered to guests should generate a cheerful fright. This result can be easily achieved by using various kinds of visual effects: giving drinks an ominous color, equipping them with various gothic decorations, or creating other impressive visual images.

So, during the celebration of Halloween, blood-red mixes and cocktails are especially popular. To do this, you should stock up on the appropriate ingredients. The first place among them is occupied by red juices: cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, tomato, etc. They are perfect for creating both "adult" and "children's" drinks. It all depends on the presence or absence of alcohol in them. Also, in order to achieve a "bloody" effect, you can use rich varieties of red wine or liqueurs of the appropriate shade.

In addition, it is worth using drinks of other colors that help create a slightly frightening or simply mysterious atmosphere. First of all, we are talking about a special English black vodka. The unusual color of the drink is achieved by adding catechu acacia extract, which grows in India and Burma. The use of this dark, greenish-bluish infernal drink in layered cocktails will no doubt impress your guests. Yes, and the use of this vodka in the preparation of "Bloody Mary" or "Screwdriver" will have an equally stunning effect.

Other dark brown and black drinks also contribute to the Halloween color scheme: a range of brandies, whiskeys, rums, balms and tinctures. Of particular note is absinthe, which not only has a sinister reputation on its own, but when mixed with water, it acquires a mysterious hazy greenish hue.

Speaking about the serving of drinks, first of all, it is worth dwelling on various jelly dirty tricks produced specifically on the eve of the holiday. Jelly spiders, worms, slugs, cockroaches will look funny on the rim of drinks glasses or even in cocktails themselves. Especially effective in this case will be strung on cocktail skewers or jelly eyes placed on the bottom of the glass.

Some folk craftsmen go even further and create a frightening jelly frozen hand on their own. The boiled mixture of gelatin and some sweet or sour-sweet juice (or juices) is poured into a glove thoroughly washed and turned inside out, which is tied and placed in the freezer. Further, the festive accessory is removed from the freezer immediately before use and, after cutting off the glove, is dipped into the punch bowl. Moreover, this is done in such a way that the fingers and part of the brush are above the level of the drink.

In addition, Halloween drink glasses can be equipped with impressive blood streaks. To do this, their edges need to be dipped in a jelly mass of red juice that is starting to harden, and then pulled out, quickly turned over and put in the refrigerator, where they will wait for the party to start.

Also, particularly risky hosts of the Halloween feast throw plastic skeletons, bones and skulls into glasses with opaque drinks. At the same time, the "surprise" should not be too small so that it is not accidentally swallowed.

With a little imagination with the laws of physics, you can use other fun visual effects. For example, using a cocktail tube, inject a little Baileys or other cream liqueur into a container with a strong, clear alcoholic drink; as a result, the liquor curdled into balls will look like brains in alcohol. Or, before pouring vodka or gin into a glass or shot, drop a few drops of grenadine syrup to the bottom, thereby giving the drink unambiguous vampire associations.

Witch Potion

To do this, it is advisable to first smoke a capacious vessel intended for mixing a cocktail for the whole company, giving it the appearance of a canonical witch's cauldron, and then, before pouring the necessary ingredients into it (pineapple or citrus juice, rum, vodka, or both, and third), several pieces of dry ice should be placed on the bottom.

As a result, the decoction served by you will bubble like a real sinister witchcraft brew. For greater caution, you can theatrically interfere with the potion with a stick from a fake broom or throw a handful of jelly evil spirits there. The main thing is not to touch dry ice in any case, otherwise you risk earning not fake, but the most real burn.

Halloween is a great occasion to show imagination and ingenuity. Don't be afraid to experiment with the most unexpected ingredients. And finally, don't forget to come up with some suitable, creepy names for your infernal creations.

Halloween isn't just about spooky costumes, it's about spooky food and drinks, too! Moreover, everything is terrible in them: both the names and the appearance. Happy Halloween! And remember - busting with alcoholic drinks in the evening can turn your morning into a real nightmare ...

Halloween cocktails are a must for a party. And the scarier they are, the steeper the event will be. Themed appetizers, make-up and outfits complete the homemade coven. The main thing is not to overdo it with the tasting, otherwise you won’t need makeup in the morning - your faces will be like those of the living dead.

Historical outline

Halloween - All Saints' Day, transformed from a Celtic pagan holiday that divided the ancient calendar of the Celtic believers into dark and light parts. During Samhain (as this day was then called), death overtook everyone who violated the taboo.

In the modern interpretation, on the night of October 31, dark forces plunge the earth into darkness - ghouls, ghouls, evil spirits and all their relatives begin to commit atrocities. Therefore, until the very morning of November 1, they must be diligently scared away.

Christians do not particularly like and honor a foreign holiday, although many treat it with humor and, having picked up the entourage, have fun from the bottom of their hearts.

Halloween Symbols:

  • pumpkin lamps - were made by the Celts to help souls find the way leading to another dimension;
  • Jack's lamp - a hollow pumpkin with a carved face and a candle burning inside - the legacy of a drunkard blacksmith who deceived the Devil;
  • lembswool, a drink made from baked apples drenched in heated apple cider, sweetened and seasoned with spices, meant that the entire crop was harvested.

Interesting! The holiday did not come to us from America, on the contrary, it got there with the first settlers from Europe.

Drink decoration for Halloween

The main thing is to properly decorate and serve the bacchanalia of alcoholic cocktails. They should surprise, shock and touch the nerve.

You can decorate the dishes in advance or buy disposable ones in suitable colors, create a web at the bar from white thin threads, and also prepare a kit for making scary things.

Attention! Don't forget about safety! Always serve a thin drinking straw with a decorated hot drink!

Now let's move on to practice.

Create Spooky Eyes:

  • push the peppercorns into the center of the rounded marshmallows;
  • peel the radish, pick out a hole in the center suitable for inserting an olive / olive into it; put the resulting "eyes" on a skewer and place on a glass;
  • dry the lychee fruit, fill it with strawberry or raspberry jam, build a pupil from blueberries or currants.

Anything can be placed in ice molds - gelatin worms, bugs, cockroaches, etc.

Drawings on the glass of glasses. We draw melted chocolate into a syringe and display a cobweb or ghost faces on the glass of the inner walls of the glass.

Blood stains:

  • dip the edges of the glasses in Grenadine and turn over, waiting for "bruising";
  • soak the gelatin in red juice, heat until it dissolves, cool slightly (until viscosity appears), dip the edges of the glasses in the resulting “blood”, turn over so that the drops run down the glass, cool the creation in the refrigerator.

Nasty-looking drinks are obtained when using jelly marmalade. It can be eyes, worms, jaws, fingers. However, they are easy enough to drop into the drink.

Olives, cherries, blueberries, citrus peels, etc. look great on a cocktail tube or a skewer dipped into a glass.

Crafting a Severed Punch Hand:

  • pour water (or gelatin melted in red juice) into a medical glove, tie its base and freeze;
  • before removing the hand from the latex, lower the product for 2-3 seconds in boiling water;
  • put your hand in the center of the punch bowl, not forgetting to dip it into the drink before that (you can also cut off 1-2 fingers from the hand).

Additional visual effects:

  • Brains at the bottom of the glass - achieved by introducing liquor into any strong alcohol with a tube (it rolls up in the form of balls);
  • Witch's potion - before pouring the drink into a glass, put a couple of pieces of dry ice on the bottom (the cocktail will begin to bubble and smoke - at this moment you can pour jelly cockroaches into it and stir theatrically).

Carefully! Do not touch dry ice with your hands - this can lead to burns! But you should not be scared at all - it is not toxic, and completely harmless - you can drink a cocktail as soon as the ice is completely dissolved.

Little tricks:

  • choose colored liquors for Halloween (green mint, chocolate, etc.), absinthe, and black vodka (poured instead of regular);
  • juices should also be bright - strawberry, carrot, cranberry, tomato, orange, pumpkin, raspberry, etc.

Now, armed with knowledge, you can create gothic mixes. And to make it easier for you to make them, we have made for you a terribly fun selection of recipes for alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails in the spirit of Halloween.

The most terrible holiday of the year is approaching (I do not take into account the classic Christmas binge). On Halloween, you want to throw a noisy party. But how to become the most original hostess without extra costs?

Thematic decoration of the house according to all the canons will cost a pretty penny. Therefore, we will manage with a minimum amount of terrible tinsel. Each guest will make costumes and makeup himself. Here you are clearly unable to influence the choice of images, otherwise you risk turning the general fun into a social event with a mandatory dress code. It remains to decorate the table in an original way.

On Halloween, few people overeat salads and squeeze in an extra portion of chicken and mashed potatoes. But the drinks disperse with a bang. Agree, any gatherings in an adult company are not complete without alcohol.

Since you still have to buy booze, let's give the usual products a gloomy halo. Guests will remember your unique cocktails for a long time, if, of course, they know the measure in use.
