We will need:

  • Herring - 2 pcs.
  • Beets (small) - 5 pcs.
  • Potatoes (medium size) - 5 pcs.
  • Carrots (large) - 1 pc.
  • Eggs - 4-5 pcs.
  • Onion - 2 pcs.
  • Vinegar
  • Mayonnaise


Cooking process:

1. Prepare vegetables - pre-boil, then peel, boil eggs and peel. We cut the herring, removing the inside, fins, skin and all all the bones.

2. Then we need to marinate the chopped onion. Add 1 teaspoon of vinegar to cold water and mix well, the water should become slightly sour.


3. Add onion to our water with vinegar and set aside for 10-15 minutes. Just during this time, we will cut the rest of the vegetables.


4. Cut the eggs into small cubes and transfer to a plate.


5. Rub half of the potatoes on a coarse grater. I rub right into the mold that will serve our salad on the table, about one finger high. This will be the first layer, lightly sprinkle the potatoes with salt and grease with mayonnaise.


6. The next layer is carrots. Three on a grater, level and sprinkle with pickled onions on top, after squeezing out excess liquid. Then grease with a thin layer of mayonnaise.


7. The next layer is herring, cut into long strips. We lay our fish neatly piece by piece to make a uniform layer of herring, sprinkle with onion and grease with a thin layer of mayonnaise.



9. Coarsely rub the remaining potatoes on top of the eggs, sprinkle with a small amount of pickled onions, then lightly crush the salad and coat with mayonnaise.

10. The final layer is beets. We rub on a coarse grater, sprinkle lightly with salt and coat well with mayonnaise.

We will need:

  • potatoes - 3 pcs.
  • eggs - 3 pcs.
  • Carrots - 3 pcs.

Cooking technology:

  1. To prepare the salad, we need to boil all the vegetables, then peel them. Boil eggs hard boiled and peeled. Herring must be patted out, removing all the bones, skin and entrails.
  2. Next, we take a cutting board, wrap it with cling film, wrapping the edges under the board so that it does not go. Then we rub coarsely the beets and evenly level them over all surfaces.

11. We send the roll to the refrigerator for several hours so that it is well saturated without removing the film.

12. Before serving, carefully remove the cling film so as not to damage the integrity of the roll. We make chaotic thin lines from mayonnaise, decorate with parsley and spread pomegranate seeds for beauty.

Even despite the fact that every housewife tries to cook this salad in her own way, in a special way, to bring her own zest, experimenting and adding new ingredients, and sometimes completely changing the usual appearance.

Classic step-by-step salad recipe under a fur coat - layers in order


Composition and proportions:

Salted herring fillet - 300 gr. (fish about 450 gr.)
Beets - 2 pcs. (450gr.)
Onion - 2 pcs. (200gr.)
Potatoes - 3-4 pcs. (300gr.)
Carrots - 2 pcs. (200gr.)
Chicken eggs - 2-3 pcs.
Mayonnaise - 250 gr.
Salt - to taste (for cooking vegetables)

And now we will analyze in detail and clearly - what order, sequence of layers is considered correct.

How to cook:

We put carrots, potatoes and eggs in one pot with water, cook for about 30 - 40 minutes:

In another pan - beets, also salt and cook for about 1 hour (50 - 70 minutes)

Preparation of ingredients: everything except herring and onion is ground on a coarse grater.

Peel potatoes and grate into a separate bowl.

We do the same with eggs. We repeat the same steps with carrots. And with beets.

Now it's the onion's turn - cut it into cubes and knead it slightly with your hands so that they break up into layers. And just like all the previous ones, we leave them in a separate container:

We take a salad bowl, something like this, with small sides.

In the first layer, we put pieces of herring in it, carefully distributing them along the bottom, repeating the shape of the salad bowl.

Do not forget to leave an indent from the edge for future layers.

Onions will be the second layer. Then coat with mayonnaise. You can cook it yourself, or use store bought.

After that, we begin to lay out the third layer - potatoes, hiding the existing layers and leveling with a spatula.

Spread with mayonnaise. We pass to the fifth layer - carrots. Everything is just as simple and at ease - distributed, formed a layer, trimmed.

Lubricated with mayonnaise and to the next step - the last, sixth layer of beets. We form the final look of the future salad.

And coat with the final layer of mayonnaise.

Beets - 1 pc. big;

Food film.

Cooking method:

As usual, boil potatoes and carrots in lightly salted water.

Beets must be cooked separately from all vegetables, otherwise it will color them, and it takes much longer to cook.

We cut the herring into fillets. Onion cut into small cubes.

We take a mat for the formation of rolls and lay food film on it.

We rub the boiled beets on a coarse grater and spread them directly on the film. Gently grease with mayonnaise.

Cut the potatoes into small cubes, put the next layer on the beets and coat with mayonnaise again.

Required Ingredients:

salted herring 2 pcs.
Boiled potatoes (in uniform) 4 pcs.

Cooking method:

We cut both herrings into fillets and cut it into small cubes.

We take out the yolks from the boiled eggs and set them aside for now, and rub the protein on a grater. And also three potatoes, carrots and beets.

When we have all the necessary components ready, we begin to collect the salad, not forgetting to coat the layers with mayonnaise. I usually repeat the sequence of layers twice so that the taste is richer and more harmonious.

So, the first layer will be half a potato + some mayonnaise. Put the herring on top. Then we spread the carrots and it is not necessary to grease this layer with mayonnaise. And spread the proteins on top of it.

Then again a little mayonnaise and lay a layer of grated beets. After that, the entire sequence of layers is repeated in order.

If you wrap a popular and familiar salad in pita bread in the form of a roll and serve it as a portioned snack, it will turn out both tasty and unusual!


Product set:

1 herring fillet
3 rectangular lavash sheets
2 beets
2 carrots
4-5 potatoes
mayonnaise to taste

Cooking:

Boil the vegetables and peel them. Mash potatoes into puree. Let's cut each sheet of pita bread into 4 parts (according to the folds) - so it will be more convenient to use it.

It is better to take pita bread of medium thickness - it will be well saturated with mayonnaise and will keep its shape. Thin, almost transparent pita bread is not suitable for such an appetizer.

We put polyethylene or cling film under the first sheet of pita bread and grease the pita bread with a thin layer of mayonnaise and boiled beets grated on a coarse grater on top. Slightly press with your palm.

On top we put the next sheet of pita bread, which was also pre-lubricated with mayonnaise. We evenly distribute carrots, prepared in the same way as beets, over the entire sheet of pita bread (we try to cover the edges with stuffing).

We lay the third sheet of pita bread, also smeared with mayonnaise. We distribute the mashed potatoes and press either with a spoon or with the palm of your hand, trying to make sure that the potatoes lie in an even and not very thick layer. The puree must be made steep enough so that the pita bread does not get soggy.

We begin to roll the pita bread with a roll - along the short side, so that there are more layers. After that, wrap it in a film, twist the edges and put it in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.

We take out the chilled appetizer, cut the pita into slices of 3-4 cm. We beautifully spread it on a dish, putting a piece of salted herring on top of each roll, and decorate the appetizer with green onions.
