Are you thinking about making something so quick and tasty? Of course, puff rolls with poppy seeds. I use ready-made puff pastry for this pastry. The cooking time is less than half an hour, and the result exceeds all expectations. I share my favorite quick recipe for delicious pastries from ready-made puff pastry. Step-by-step photographs illustrate the entire process in detail.

So we need:

- puff pastry (ready) - 200 grams;
- poppy - 50 grams;
- sugar - 60 grams;
- chicken egg - 1 piece;
- wheat flour - for working with dough.

Starting baking, the first thing you need to do is poppy seed filling.

How to make poppy seed filling

Pour the poppy seeds into a deep container of a small size. Add sugar and chicken egg. Leave a little yolk for lubrication of the rolls.

Mix the poppy seed filling until smooth and proceed to the dough.

Roll out the puff pastry into a thin rectangular layer, as shown in the next photo. Lubricate the dough with poppy seed filling, stepping back a little from the edges.

Roll the dough into a roll, trying to make it dense. Pinch the edges of the roll so that when cutting the rolls, the filling does not flow out.

Take a sharp knife and cut the roll into pieces, about two centimeters wide.

Lay the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. From above, grease them with the left yolk.

Send to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees. The cooking time depends on the desired goldenness of the baked goods.

Rolls with poppy seed filling are very beautiful, tasty and fragrant. They make a great accompaniment to coffee/tea and other beverages.

Ingredients:

  • puff pastry package (4 sheets in it),
  • 2 apples of medium size,
  • 1 egg for greasing
  • 100 grams of seedless raisins,
  • 50 grams of butter,
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • flour for dusting the cutting board.

Cooking process:

Prepare the filling: remove the core from apples, cut into thin slices. Raisins are soaked in boiling water, washed, squeezed. Defrost puff pastry. We take one sheet of dough, spread it on a board or tray dusted with flour. Roll out with a rolling pin into a thin layer.


Melt the butter and brush the surface of the cake with it using a silicone brush.


Put a layer of apples on the edges of the layer, sprinkle with raisins on top, sprinkle with sugar.


Bend the edge once.



Roll up and lay out one more layer of filling. We form a roll.

Purchased dough or homemade?

One of the most burning questions for housewives is what kind of dough to use. It would seem that a puff pastry roll should be exclusively homemade from start to finish. However, not everyone has time for such a long process. And industrial puff pastry is just as good! It doesn't even have to be completely thawed before use. 5 minutes in the microwave is enough. Therefore, it makes no difference which product will be used. Puff pastry rolls, the recipes of which will be described below, are tasty, juicy, airy.

Yeasted or yeast-free dough

The fundamental difference between these two types of dough is how they rise. That is, the puff pastry meatloaf with yeast will disperse a little on the baking sheet, become higher and acquire a large number of layers. And this is not too good for such a filling. But a puff pastry roll (sweet or with berries) without yeast will turn out to be too flat and nondescript. Therefore, you need to choose based on what filling will be used.

Meat variant

Most of all, this dish is liked by men who, at normal times, don’t like pastries too much. Meatloaf made from puff pastry (purchased) is cooked very quickly if all the ingredients are prepared in advance. We will need:

  • minced meat (well, if it is from pork and beef with the addition of onions and a long loaf soaked in milk, so that the consistency is cool);
  • bulb onions;
  • spices;
  • White cabbage;
  • hard cheese;
  • yeast-free puff pastry.

Step 1: stuffing

It is easy to prepare: minced meat is fried in a pan with a small amount of vegetable oil. Finely chopped onion and cabbage twisted through a meat grinder are gradually added to it. Spices are always applied exclusively to taste. The cheese is rubbed on a fine grater and gradually introduced into the hot minced meat. For flavor, you can add a couple of cloves of garlic. At this time, it is better to take the dough out of the freezer so that it thaws. Or you can defrost it in the microwave according to the instructions.

Step 2: Dough

Of course, a product bought in a store is much more convenient to use than to knead it yourself. Puff pastry rolls, the recipes of which can be very different, are cooked on average in 20-40 minutes at a temperature of 170-200 degrees. And to make them especially tasty, there is a little trick. So, the finished dough, which is most often sold in the form of frozen sheets, needs to be rolled out with a rolling pin into a small thin pancake, connecting the sheets together. This will make it easier to roll later. If there is no rolling pin at hand, then a simple glass bottle can replace it. You do not need to flour the dough, it does not stick.

Step 3: rolling the roll

This is the most difficult moment in cooking, because the twisting depends on how the dish will turn out in the end, how neat it will be. A puff pastry roll is rolled up as follows: first, the filling is laid out on the entire surface, retreating 5 mm from each of the edges, except for one. This is necessary in order to be able to pinch it well. The dough with the filling is twisted with a tight bar, with the help of a fork, punctures are made all over the roll.

Step 4: Baking

This is the easiest of all cooking. The oven is preheated to 200 degrees, parchment paper is lined on a baking sheet, which will prevent the bottom of the culinary product from burning. The puff pastry meatloaf is laid out so that the edges do not touch the walls of the dish on which it lies. If you use a simple flat baking sheet, then the product can be put in any way. The baking time is 30 minutes.

One of the most popular and simple recipes is the one filled with apples, cinnamon and sugar. It is not difficult to cook it, even if there is no experience. We will need:

  • apples;
  • yeast puff pastry;
  • cinnamon (1 teaspoon with a slide);
  • sugar (3 tablespoons with a slide).

If you like sweeter pastries, then the amount of granulated sugar can be increased. Rolls made from puff pastry differ from culinary products based on non-yeast dough in that the former increase significantly in volume during baking. The result is airy and lush puffs, which consist of many thin layers. The filling for apple roll is prepared simply: the apples are washed, peeled, peeled, seeds and core, finely chopped. Sugar is mixed with cinnamon. This sweet mixture is poured over the apples. The filling is ready. The dough is defrosted, rolled out to a thin rectangle. The apple filling is spread over the entire area so that about 10 cm of free space remains on one edge, otherwise it will not be very convenient to spin the roll. The twisted dough is sent to the oven for 20 minutes, provided that the temperature is about 200-220 degrees.

Cottage cheese puff roll

This option is especially popular with children, as it is both tasty and sweet, and nutritious. A puff pastry roll filled with cottage cheese sometimes comes out a little moist inside. It does not affect the taste in any way. For cooking you will need the following products:

  • raw chicken egg;
  • granulated sugar;
  • cottage cheese;
  • raisins or dried apricots (pre-soaked);
  • puff yeast dough;
  • powdered sugar.

Beat the egg with a mixer until foamy, then gradually introduce sugar, beat again. Little by little cottage cheese is added to the sweet mass. At the same time, the mixer is not turned off, constantly beating the filling with it. You should get a curd mass, the consistency of which resembles thick sour cream. The dough is rolled out to a flat pancake 2-3 mm thick. A filling of cottage cheese is laid out on it, then finely chopped raisins or dried apricots. The roll is carefully twisted so that the filling does not come out at the edges. The dough is coated on the outside with egg yolk or butter to make the pastry ruddy. The roll is baked in the oven for 20-30 minutes at a temperature of 180-200 degrees. The finished culinary product is sprinkled with powdered sugar. It is not necessary to pierce the dough with a fork before sending it to the oven.

It is noteworthy that puff pastry rolls are not recommended to be cooked with frozen berries. Firstly, they spread during baking, so the inside of the baked goods is very moist. Secondly, when cooked, they give too much juice, which simply flows out. Layers from this fall off, baking turns out watery and fresh.

Fresh berries are well suited for puff roll. They do not defrost during cooking, do not spread. Strawberries, for example, can be finely chopped and sprinkled with sugar just before swirling. But it is better to take cherries immediately without pits, allowing the juice to drain a little. It is better not to peel apricots, peaches, nectarines, but it is advisable to finely chop before putting them on the dough. Sugar can be sprinkled on an already rolled roll, and not on the filling itself. This will make the pastries especially sweet and rosy. You don't need to lubricate anything extra.

These rolls are as delicious as they are beautiful. Cooking them is very simple and easy. To do this, we buy puff pastry in the store, roll it into a layer and grease with mayonnaise. Top with ham, dill and cheese.

Roll up and cut into small rolls. We spread them on a greased baking sheet and bake in the oven for about forty minutes or a little longer at a temperature of 150-160 degrees.

For a package of puff pastry, we need 200 g of grated cheese, 250 g of ham, a small bunch of dill and some mayonnaise. Instead of ham, you can take sausage. Rolls are obtained just on one baking sheet. During baking, you can grease our rolls with an egg, then they turn out ruddy and very beautiful in appearance. Many will be interested in the question, what needs to be done with the edges? To be honest, I tried to mold them, but I couldn’t do it, so I put them in the oven as it was. To my surprise, they stuck together in the oven.

You can also wrap bell peppers, tomatoes, and even pickles in these rolls. You can also grate all the ingredients on a coarse grater, but for me it was easier to just chop them finely.
