What is eaten in a vein. Where to eat cheap in Vienna

Curiously, the concept of "Austrian cuisine" does not exist in the world, but there is Viennese cuisine - the only one in the world that is named after the city. And Vienna, as a pompous, luxurious and aristocratic city, naturally and in culinary terms, emphasized refined dishes, the special atmosphere of establishments and service in them.

Viennese cuisine has collected all the best that was possible to collect from the culinary of the neighboring countries: from Milan Cotoletto, now called the Viennese schnitzel, from Lower Hungary - Palachinken, namely pancakes with jam, from Bohemia - full dumplings. However, in most places in Vienna you can also find good old pork ribs and other dishes from ordinary Austrian land: fried or boiled Viennese sausages, usually served with cabbage or salad.

In addition, Viennese cafes or coffee houses deserve separate words: it is here that drinking coffee has become a legend. Residents of Vienna enjoy a small coffee drink and a gourmet dessert for long periods while reading a newspaper or just enjoying the views.

Among special coffee drinks, it is worth highlighting Melange (Melange), a drink with frothed milk, a bit reminiscent of cappuccino, coffee with ice cream (Wiener Eiskafe) - chilled coffee with 1-2 scoops of ice cream or Kapuziner (Kapuziner) - regular coffee with cream. By the way, ordinary black coffee is often called Mokka here.

Vienna's most famous sweetness is the famous Viennese strudel, an apple pie served either cold or warm with a sweet sauce. Perhaps these are the most important culinary attractions that you should definitely try in Vienna.

Advice. Do not try to order beer in Vienna! This is the same mauvais ton as ordering local wine in Prague or Finlandia vodka in Russia. Vienna is an imperial city, so indulge yourself in champagne, an expensive drink of noble blood!

Our selection of Viennese coffee shops

Viennese coffee houses are a separate segment in the restaurant life of this city, and perhaps nowhere else in the world is it represented so massively and clearly. This is not a place where you eat sandwiches with coffee, communicate with companies or drink almost on the go. Viennese coffee houses are cozy corners of old Vienna, where visitors leaf through newspapers, books for a long time over a cup of coffee, or simply enjoy the views of magnificent Vienna.

In Viennese coffee, the waiter is called not Kellner, as usual, but Herr Ober. He will help you place your order, although don't count on anything serious - usually small appetizers and a variety of desserts. By the way, when ordering water along with coffee, customers usually get it for free.

Coffee houses came to Vienna after the Turkish invasion in 1683, and the first Viennese coffee shop was opened by an Armenian! So it is thanks to the Armenians that Vienna can be proud of its coffee culture. The new drink was rapidly gaining popularity - at the beginning of the 19th century there were 150 in the city, and at the beginning of the 20th - more than 600 Viennese coffee houses. We will tell you about the best of the best.

15. Alt Wien(U: Stephansplatz)

When you get to this coffee shop, you want to stay here, or at least come back again and again: an exquisite interior, a little overloaded with various signs, menus, calendars, antique wooden furniture, an excellent coffee list - all this creates a unique entourage of this place. If you drink coffee - go straight from the airport to "Old Vienna"!

16. Demel(U: Herrengasse)
The second most popular Viennese cafe Demel, which, by the way, is much older than many others - for the first time the doors of Demel opened in Vienna back in 1786. One of the top culinary attractions - Demels Sachertorte - is the number one tip for all those with a sweet tooth! In addition, Demel has a huge selection of other sweets, such as Demeltorte - an orange cake with berry marmalade, marzipan and chocolate filling.
Address: am Kohlmarkt 14

17. Cafe Central(U: Herrengasse)
Cafe Central has long been considered a permanent place for city writers, artists and other artists. Sigmund Freud and Leon Trotsky constantly drank coffee in this cafe, and even today this place is created for bohemians. We offer breakfast here - from 4.90 euros.
Address: Herrengasse 14

18 Cafe Frauenhuber(U: Stephansplatz)
One of the oldest surviving coffee houses in Vienna is definitely worth a visit - it was founded in the 18th century. Mozart and Beethoven concerts were held here, which is felt in the spirit of this institution to this day. Chic classic interiors, a varied dessert menu and the wonderful aroma of old Vienna - what could be better to create a good mood!
Address: Himmelpfortgasse 6
http://www.cafefrauenhuber.com/

19. Cafe Pruckel(U: Stubentor)
One of the best coffee establishments on the Ringstrasse, Café Prükel has been around for over 100 years! You can enjoy the views of Vienna by taking a table outside, and we recommend ordering desserts "Maria Theresa" or "Erzherzog Johann".
Address: Stubenring 24
http://www.prueckel.at/

There are several traditional dishes in Vienna: Sacher Torte, Viennese Strudel, Wiener Schnitzel, Taffelspitz and Viennese Coffee.

It is believed that the best Sacher cake is served in the patisserie at the hotel of the same name, since it was there that this chocolate cake was first invented and prepared. But personally, in my opinion, this dessert is not the most delicious, and the pastry shop has now turned into a tourist place, too much touted. The situation is quite different with the also well-known restaurant Plachutta, which has been visited by many famous personalities, including director Woody Allen. Taffelspitz is served here. Despite the fact that this place is very popular among tourists, the restaurant still holds the brand and serves very tasty food. Taffelspitz is both a first and a second course. They bring you a broth in which they cook one of the parts of the beef body that you yourself choose from the menu. The broth and meat are also served with several side dishes (fried potatoes, spinach, green beans in a creamy sauce) and sauces: apple horseradish and applesauce. Buns and bread with butter and bone marrow are served with the broth. Dinner in Plachutte is a whole beautiful ceremony with a certain order of actions. I advise you to take one dish for two, as the food is delicious, but there is a lot of it.

In addition, I want to recommend a very old cafe where I tried Wiener Schnitzel and Strudel, both delicious and fresh. This is Cafe "Sperl", which is located near the "Nashmarket". The cafe has a great history: it is located in a beautiful house and opened in 1880. Inside, the place has retained its ancient design and special atmosphere. From the very opening of the cafe, all the Vienna intelligentsia came here: poets, architects, musicians. And until now, visiting this place, you can see a pleasant old man sitting in the corner by the window from early morning until late evening and reading a newspaper. No one will think to drive him away: this is the policy of the cafe.

And be sure to try their signature fried sausages, which are sold in small vans throughout the city. This is a favorite food of the people of Vienna. I personally observed how the audience in expensive dresses, high heels and suits, after the end of the opera, ran across the road to such a van in order to have time to eat a couple of sausages before closing. The spectacle, of course, is unforgettable. :)

For those who want to eat more traditional European cuisine, I recommend a place that is located right next to St. Stephen's Cathedral: Haas & Haas. This is a place with delicious food and a cozy courtyard. It is good to come here in the morning, as there is a very large selection of breakfasts and a variety of teas. Eat a hearty and delicious breakfast and soak up the soft morning rays - what could be better!

TOURIST ANSWERS:

I would like to say a few more words about how and where else you can eat in Vienna. Once in the capital of Austria a couple of weeks ago, I caught myself thinking that I was walking past cafes and restaurants, inviting guests on the central streets, with quite a lot of trepidation. The prices on the menu are impressive to say the least. I had to remember about the establishments that are a little further away and go to the legendary Ribs of Vienna, located near the church of St. Stephen, or rather in the house number 22 on Weihburggasse. Luckily, this place didn't disappoint. Going down to the basement, the visitor finds himself in a classic brasserie with long wooden tables, benches and vaulted ceilings. The dish that brought fame to this restaurant and which is undoubtedly worth it is a meter of baked ribs. The ribs are brought on a cutting board with two types of sauce and coleslaw. I will say right away - the portion is really impressive both in size and very rich taste. Those who doubt the capabilities of their stomach can be asked to wrap the remaining ribs with them - this practice has long been established in this restaurant, so no one will be surprised at your request. From beer, we can especially recommend dark beer, which is the pride of this institution. So, for 22 euros you can get soup for lunch, beer, ribs and strudel for dessert. Of course, you can order something else. But this lunch option will definitely not leave anyone hungry. By the way, if you order only ribs, it will cost only about 13 euros, and the portion can be divided into two. In general, the restaurant staff is very friendly, speaks Russian (by the way, there are also a lot of Russians among the visitors), and the prices are quite reasonable, so you can have a relatively inexpensive and very hearty meal here.

As for buying groceries shop, it turned out to be not so cheap pleasure either. Of course, you can buy a ready-made sandwich or a packed salad in one of the supermarkets (this will turn out to be the cheapest snack option in Vienna, but still more expensive compared to other European cities). But if you decide to try something else, you will have to count on the fact that you will have to say goodbye to the nth amount. So, not far from Albertina Square (more precisely, on the way from it to St. Stephen's Square) there is a good supermarket, which occupies three whole floors. There you can also buy fresh fruits or vegetables, sliced \u200b\u200b(it costs an average of 3 euros in Vienna), ready-made salads or traditional sweets. However, as it turned out, mouth-watering sticks of dried sausages or fish products, appetizingly looking at supermarket visitors from the window, deserve quite a lot of attention, as it turned out. On the ground floor there is a large department with all kinds of sweets and chocolates. Thus, Mozart sweets, typical for Vienna and Austria as a whole, will cost from 4 euros there. You can also buy an interesting set of Austrian chocolates for 5 - 12 euros (depending on the size, variety of chocolates and weight). The lower tier presents its visitors with a rich selection of alcohol, and not only Austrian or German, but also French, Italian and so on. So, lovers of strong drinks can be advised to buy schnapps as a souvenir (costs around 8 euros). And fans of liquor should definitely try the Austrian liqueur "Mozart" (a gift box of two or three small bottles costs around 6 - 10 euros).

In addition, right on Albertina Square there is a small shop selling traditional Austrian sweets and souvenirs. There you can also see good coffee, sweets or Mozart liqueur, as well as candied violets (a very popular dessert among locals) and much more. It's called "Bonbons Anzinger" and enters the square from Tegetthoffstrasse. The sellers also know Russian, so there will be no problems with understanding.

Not far away, literally around the corner, is the legendary hotel. "Sacher"(Philharmonikerstraße 4), where you can try the legendary Viennese cake of the same name or just sit with a cup of coffee. True, I will say right away that the prices there are quite consistent with its status and you are unlikely to find a budget dessert there. But if you want to taste some of the best sweets in Vienna and enjoy the atmosphere of comfort and luxury, as well as divine aromas, it's definitely worth going there.

Helpful answer?

Vienna is a real paradise for gourmets, and especially for lovers of all kinds of desserts. The prices on the menu, of course, are quite high, but it's definitely worth trying some of the local culinary masterpieces. In the tourist center of the city, establishments are usually quite expensive. But they fully meet the most demanding requirements both in terms of the quality of dishes and interior design. A little further from the center there are simpler restaurants and cafes, where an ordinary tourist can get acquainted with the local cuisine.

As for certain establishments that have been tested by more than one generation of travelers, some of them can be noted.

If you are a fan of meat, then you can go to one of the two restaurants "Figlmüller", which are very popular due to the most impressive (both in size and taste) schnitzels served there in Vienna. And although the coveted portion will cost about 14 euros (although it is quite enough for two), and beer - around 7, at lunch and dinner, a whole line of tourists line up at the establishment, eager to taste this dish.

Also, those wishing to taste dishes of traditional Austrian cuisine are invited to the restaurant "Salm Brau", famous among residents and visitors of Vienna due to the delicious live beer served here, as well as mouth-watering pork knuckle and unusual beer soup. But for those who like to eat ribs, it is better to go to a restaurant, which is called so - Ribs of Vienna(ribs of Vienna), which is not far from the church of St. Stephen (Weihburggasse 22). For 13 euros you will be offered a huge portion of delicious ribs, which you can easily eat for the whole day. And if we add delicious beer and the fact that the restaurant perfectly understands the Russian language, it is not surprising that the restaurant has long been very popular among Russian-speaking tourists.

An institution with a speaking name may seem interesting and tempting "Bettelstudent"(Poor student), located next to the Ring at Johannesgasse 12. Numerous visitors are attracted not only by delicious dishes, but also by very democratic prices for Vienna. So, for example, garlic soup will cost about 4 euros, and Viennese schnitzel with potato salad and lingonberries - around 10 euros.

Lovers same beer products of Austrian breweries will be appreciated, which can be tasted not only in ordinary restaurants, but also in beer bars. For example, a great place is a brewery “7 Stern”(Siebensternbräu), located right in the city center and offering 7 types of delicious home-brewed beer, or a brasserie "Salm Brau", located near the tram stop Unteres Belvedere.

It is impossible to imagine Vienna without its world-famous coffee houses, where it is so pleasant to sit with a cup of excellent, aromatic coffee, listening to the gentle sounds of music and watching the bustling city. By the way, in any establishment for coffee you will be offered the famous freshly baked Viennese strudel or cake, which will win your heart forever... There are about 3,000 coffee houses in Vienna, so finding a place to sit and enjoy the city will not be difficult. True, we can note several establishments where, in addition, live classical music is played (especially in the evenings), the so-called "musical coffee houses" . This Cafe Bräunerhof (Stallburggasse 2), Cafe Prückl (Stubenring 24), Cafe Schottenring (Schottenring 19), Cafe Schwarzenberg (Kärntner Ring 17) and others. Well, the most famous coffee house is undoubtedly Cafe Mozart on Albertinaplatz, first opened in 1794. Here you can see not only Viennese bohemia, but also those who just want to taste delicious Viennese desserts, especially popular among which are strudel, imperial pancakes and the famous Sacher cake.

In addition to coffee and all kinds of desserts, in Vienna you can try ice cream reminiscent of Italian in appearance and taste. As a rule, it is quite inexpensive - about 1-2 euros per ball, so it is quite possible to afford this delicacy, especially in the heat. By the way, especially pleased in Vienna water, essentially mineral, which flows directly from alpine springs. Therefore, do not pass by cute fountains or special machines where you can freshen up for free by taking a few sips of this life-giving water.

And here fast food and other snacks in Vienna are not particularly encouraging. Arab stalls offer kebabs and similar shawarma of dubious quality for 5-7 euros, and the prices in McDonald's or Burger King, to put it mildly, are surprising. In extreme cases, you can try something in Vienna sausage , but again, the portion and the price are not particularly consistent. So, in my opinion, it is better to find an inexpensive restaurant or cafe where you can slowly try something from local or European cuisine and enjoy the fabulous charm of Vienna.

Local dishes are so magnificent and incomparable that the local cuisine (the only one in the world!) Is named after the capital of Austria, and not the whole country. Viennese cuisine includes Viennese schnitzel, Viennese sausages, Viennese strudel, Viennese coffee - enough to put aside the guidebook, sit in one of the many cafes and taste local goodies.

What to try in Vienna?

Vienna sausages and sausages

In Viennese cuisine, meat products are number one in terms of popularity. Sausages, sausages, sausages of all kinds, with various additives - they are made about one and a half thousand types. Very juicy, high-calorie, with white islands of fat, with an extremely appetizing smell - they are worth trying even for losing weight young ladies, they are so tasty.

Roasted chestnuts

Chestnuts are not an ordinary delicacy for us, however, in Europe, in the autumn and before Christmas, merchants appear roasting over a fire and selling these fruits - brownish, flattened, with a large gray mark at the base. The Viennese add chestnuts to Christmas dishes, and tourists gnaw them like seeds - they taste great when they're hot.

Wiener Schnitzel

Authentic Wiener Schnitzel is the most tender veal breaded in breadcrumbs. The one made from pork is also a schnitzel, but not a Viennese one. Enormous in size, barely fitting on a rather big plate, or even hanging from it, schnitzel is served with cold potato salad, green salad leaves and a slice of lemon. It is almost impossible to eat such a portion alone.

Apple strudel

Apple strudel, or apfel strudel with the thinnest dough, cinnamon, butter cream or ice cream - even those who do not like sweets cannot resist it. In Austria, it is believed that the best strudel is served in Viennese cafes, hence its second name - Viennese strudel. There is another kind of strudel made from cottage cheese called topfenstrudel, which is especially good with vanilla ice cream or cream.

Sacher Torte

Sacher is another masterpiece of Viennese confectioners: a chocolate cake made from sponge cakes with an apricot layer, decorated with dark chocolate and whipped cream. Franz Sacher created this miracle, and you can try the classic recipe in the cafe at the Sacher family hotel.

Viennese coffee

Viennese coffee is considered to be a legendary drink, as coffee's victorious march across Europe began with it. Now there is no one classic Viennese coffee recipe, however, in all cafes it is very good - albeit in different ways. Another popular type of Viennese coffee is coffee Melange a la Viennese. There is also no classic recipe here: sugar is added somewhere, honey somewhere, cream somewhere, and milk somewhere. But the basis of real Melange coffee is the same: strong sweet coffee with milk or cream, decorated with melange - a cap of milk foam on top.

Mulled wine

Viennese mulled wine (Viennese again!) is a fellow German mulled wine, but with a key difference: orange peel is not added to real Viennese. Its composition is wine (including white), sugar, cloves, cinnamon. The best time and place to try mulled wine is at one of the Christmas markets and markets.

Where to eat in Vienna?

Eating in the Austrian capital is always a pleasure, but the pleasure is not cheap. However, there are places in Vienna where you can eat quite budget - and, at the same time, delicious. In the most top tourist places there are a couple of tents where fragrant, hot sausages and sausages are prepared here, the most diverse in shape and additives in them. You can eat them in a bun, or you can just eat them with bread, mustard and pickled cucumbers. Washing down all this splattering splendor with Austrian beer is also not the worst in the world. Also in tents for a couple of euros you can buy a portion of fried potatoes packed in a bag.

Pizzeria Da Bizzi

You can also have a cheap meal at Da Bizzi, an Italian self-service eatery. It is located in the very center of Vienna - near the famous St. Stephen's Cathedral. Here you can have a very inexpensive bite to eat quite tolerable pizza.

Turkish kebabs

Unfortunately, not Viennese cuisine at all, but very, very budgetary and satisfying. There are a lot of real kebab shops around the city, the cost of one kebab is around 2.5 - 3 euros.

Naschmarkt

Naschmarkt is an open market near the center of Vienna, the largest in the city, between the Wieden and Mariahilf districts. Mostly food products are sold here, there are also several cafes with affordable prices. On a weekday, you can find very profitable lunch offers here: soup, main course and a drink for 8-10 euros. You can recommend Neni cafe here, address: Naschmarkt 510.

Restaurant Salm Brau

One of the most popular restaurants in Vienna among tourists, sometimes you even have to wait for a table to be free. There is a menu in Russian and Russian speaking staff. The food here is excellent, and the beer is considered simply great - the restaurant has its own brewery. Beer soup, Wiener schnitzel and pork ribs are worth trying here. The average check is 25 euros. The restaurant is located on Rennweg, 8, near the monument to the Soviet Soldier.

Figlmueller Restaurant

It is famous for its Viennese schnitzels - they are simply obscenely huge here. It is very popular among tourists, so there are queues at lunchtime and in the evening. A standard set of schnitzel and beer in this establishment will cost about 20 euros. This restaurant has two branches: Wollzeile 5 and Baeckerstrasse 6.

Restaurant Ribs of Vienna

An absolutely amazing place in which the signature dish (bestseller, as they call it here) is pork ribs. They are measured in meters here. The smallest portion is about 30 centimeters, while the standard one, a meter, is taken for several people. Soups are also good here, as well as Viennese topfenstrudel with vanilla sauce. The average check is 30 euros. The restaurant is located at Weihburggasse 22.

Restaurant Wratschko

Lunch at the restaurant will be more expensive than in previous establishments, but the Viennese cuisine here is simply delicious. Beef soup, veal stew, apple strudel - these dishes are also appreciated by the Viennese, who often come here. The average check in Vratshko is 35 euros, there is a restaurant at Neustiftgasse, 51.

Viennese cuisine is the only cuisine in the world named after a city. In the fifteenth century it was considered the best in Europe. To this day, thanks to its uniqueness, Viennese cuisine has many fans around the world.

Throughout history, different peoples have been subordinate to the Austrian crown, thanks to them it has greatly enriched its traditions - and gastronomic, of course, among others. Now, despite the fact that many culinary customs came from outside, they have the status of truly Austrian - because they became famous thanks to this European capital.

The most famous dish is Wiener Schnitzel- a large veal chop in batter. According to experienced culinary masters, he is a "descendant" of the Milanese escalope. This dish is very popular with visitors who are ready to pay fifteen euros or more for a Viennese schnitzel with french fries or salad.

A similar fate befell the truly Hungarian goulash- in our time, this dish, accompanied by a mug of beer, is a typical Viennese lunch. Viennese cuisine is not very refined, but it is nutritious and tasty. Great importance is attached to meat dishes, most often beef is used for their preparation. Guests of the Austrian capital are recommended to taste the stewed beef fillet "tafelspitz".

It is also worth mentioning potato salads, baked chicken - bakhoon, and Kaiser omelet - kaiserschmarren. It is prepared like any other omelette, but stuffed with cinnamon and raisins. When it is served, it is sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Viennese cuisine also boasts popular dishes such as schinkenfleckerln- noodles with ham, egg white, cheese and other ingredients. There are more than a hundred recipes for this delicacy.

As for flour and sweet, in this regard, the Viennese gastronomic tradition is most likely the European leader. Taste desserts, biscuits, puddings, dumplings, rolls with curd or nut filling... What is not served on the table here! The most popular, of course, belongs to Viennese strudel- apple pie. Cooking it is not an easy task, and the main secret is in creating a very thin dough. In Austria, until recently, brides were chosen according to how they knew how to cook this cake. To make it, in addition to apples and flour, you also need raisins, cottage cheese, cinnamon, almonds, breadcrumbs. This apple pie was always served with coffee or tea.

The country is proud of its wines, which are produced in different parts of it. For example, Riesling– it is produced in the Wachau valley, "Müller Thurgau"- north of Krems, Kamptal-Donauland area, "Shilcher", Morrilan, Muskateller- in Western Styria.

You can taste any of these wines in the Austrian capital at specialized points of sale.

Near Vienna there is a wine region - the town of Klosterneuburg, which was famous for its monastery wine nine centuries ago. The local winemaking school is considered one of the oldest in the European region. The most famous is the local wine "Heuriger"- young, for the manufacture of which the last harvest is used. It has been drunk since St. Martin's Day - from November 11th. The word "heuriger" in the capital of Austria is used to refer to a small tavern or restaurant where you can taste this drink. Above the entrance to the wine cellar in establishments that serve wine from their own harvest, you can see a special sign - a green wreath.

Another local cultural phenomenon of the gastronomic tradition can be called Viennese cafes. These fine establishments are part of the life of every Viennese citizen, they are a striking combination of home furnishings and elegant high society charm…

Let's talk more about the most popular coffee houses in Vienna.

Cafe Landtmann

This establishment offers daily newspapers, both local and foreign. The cafe has a conference hall and six halls protected by the state - designed for 280 people. In summer, you can relax on the terrace - it is designed for three hundred visitors. This institution remembers Sigmund Freud, Marlene Dietrich, Romy Schneider and other famous clients.

Visitors are offered many varieties of coffee, an abundance of sweets and excellent cuisine.

Cafe Pruckel

The cafe is one of the few that have survived on the Ringstrasse. Since it was founded in 1903, and to this day, visitors here are offered everything their heart desires - the press, local and foreign, delights of Viennese cuisine, many varieties of coffee and fresh pastries. Visitors appreciate the Prückel-Creme coffee variety very highly.

Cafe Sperl

This establishment was founded in 1880. Here you will always be offered a variety of press, billiard tables, bridge and chess. During the autumn period, literary events are organized at Cafe Sperl. Visitors are offered delicious homemade cakes, but the number of dishes on the menu is not very large. Actors, musicians and officers always gathered here.

Cafe Central

This coffee shop was founded in 1876. Here visitors can always count on the latest press. You can listen to the piano in the small garden, which opens in summer. The menu includes many dishes of the local culinary tradition. And, of course, homemade cakes and a wide variety of coffees. Gastronomic establishments in Vienna have always been famous for their exquisite interior, and Cafe Central is no exception in this regard - the interior design corresponds to the Venetian tradition, there is a piano in the center of the hall. This coffee shop is frequented by local businessmen, many young people and visitors.

Cafe Hawelka

Cafe Hawelka was founded in 1939 by Leopold Havelka, and this establishment is very democratic, although it boasts a glorious history. Here you can see local schoolchildren and students - and, of course, tourists. At your service - the Austrian press and coffee in the morning, and in the evening coffee will be served with buns with vanilla sauce.

Cafe Diglas

The classic institution of the Austrian capital, located in its central part, next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. It was opened in 1923. Here you will be offered your own pastries, every day - three different menus, in the summer the garden is open at the institution.

Friends, hello everyone!

Initially, I already envisioned failure and disappointment in this aspect of our journey. Yes, there is a juicy strudel, and chocolate Sacher, and picky sausages, and a schnitzel with applesauce, but the prices!

Paphos tripadvisor and reviews of supportive customers were full of epithets and kilogram bills.

In some reviews, I came across references to visits to venerable restaurants and bills for dinner for two with a bottle of wine.

Maybe for someone the prices of 200-300 euros for dinner are consonant with the word "humane", but personally I'm against it. To give the average salary in the city of Sevastopol for 1 dinner, my hand will not slip into my pocket.

In general, I had to look for alternatives and they were found. During the conversation, we will find options in Vienna where to eat tasty and inexpensive. We will try economical positions, but we will not bypass the institution, which, as they say must eat .

If you and I have different goals and you came just for taste sensations, then here you can choose an interesting format for your vacation A. Many people like it!

Traveling outside the native land in our family, the unspoken ban on fast food is lifted. You have to survive in difficult conditions and far from home, so here all means are good.

Food for astronauts with a creak of the heart is included in the diet.

Of course, you can quietly stir up a hunger strike on raw water or switch to crackers and black tea. But in such cases, the mood deteriorates faster than the weather in the northern latitudes with the advent of winter.

If in our homeland bread is the head of everything, then in Austria this honorary title given to sausages . They are fried almost on every corner, and at the insistence they can be completed with a bun, potatoes, beer and a glass of wine.

So if you're dying from cold and hunger, somewhere outside the Vienna Woods, urgently send a messenger for a fried sausage with at least two sauces and a slice of black bread.

Such a set of tourists costs about 4 euros. For the sake of savings, carry beer, juices, water with you. If it was not at your leisure to purchase these drinks, then pay 3-4 euros per position.

Below I will tell you how you can get stuck with these sausages. Do not miss)

Christmas Bonus

In honor of our first visit to Vienna and the approach of the Christmas festivities, wooden installations were built in public places. The sale of provisions and souvenirs was carried out near the Town Hall, St. Charles Cathedral and on the territory of the Belvedere Palace.

Starting late in the morning, it was officially possible to “fill your eyes” with mulled wine and have a drink with a bun, pancake or gingerbread. Prices for everything around 4 euros.

Hot drinks and food were sold from festive stalls, as well as ordinary street stalls with grills and refrigerators. Some of them even had a queue in the evening.

Don't forget that a mug is returnable. 4 euro deposit . So don't be too scared when they ask you for a glass of punch. 8 euro. Return the mug, and you get money for it))

Breakfast in the Austrian capital

Usually, the local breakfast, like in many other European cities, consists of a croissant and coffee. Such a minimum set, so as not to die of hunger and not to go over the calories.

like this the union of coffee and rolls costs 4-5 euros . In Italy, a similar combination cost us 2 euros. But, all the same, their brioches cannot be compared with local croissants, which can easily compete with their French counterparts.

By the way, who would have thought? The croissant comes from Austria, not from France as we all thought!

Our first hotel had no stars on the fuselage and was sold at a record low price of 48 euros per room per night, we were offered to pay for breakfast separately: 5 euros for 2-in-1 or 10 euros for a small buffet.

But another time in our hotel NH Vienna Belvedere there was such a breakfast that I only remembered after dinner that I had a stomach.

In the first hotel, we did not pay 20 euros for two, but went into the frosty air to look for other options to eat early in the morning in Vienna on the way to the city.

As a result, almost close to Vienna Opera we found a cafe with breakfast.

Here, until 8.30 in the morning, only home-made sets were sold: a boiled egg + a bun + butter-jam-cheese-sausage accompanied by coffee for 6.90 euros.

After the cook showed up at the stove, it was possible to order from the main menu.

The main thing was that it was warm and the Vienna Opera House was visible from the windows!

Restaurant chain Vapiano

A very successful project for the sale of fresh food with an Italian touch at affordable prices. My first trip to such a restaurant was on the territory of the Dutch Rotterdam, where I took a young fighter course on how to order and pay for food.

At the entrance to you issue a magnetic card , which you apply at different order stands (something similar to a hand strap in a water park). The fast food restaurant has several separate stands with spaghetti, salads, pizza, sweets and a bar.

In front of your eyes, not only coffee will be prepared for you, but also pasta and even a salad.

Spaghetti, pasta or fettuccine is also boiled in front of you before adding dressings of your choice. The process takes time, so it’s better to queue here from the very beginning.

Very tasty and, as for Austria, not expensive. At the exit, you read the final score from your card and pay it.

The average price tag for pasta and pizza is 6-8 euros. Salads and soups 4-6 euros, coffee 2 euros and beer 4 euros. On their website www.vapiano.com you can look at the entire range of dishes on the menu, but, for some reason, without prices.

There are only about 5 restaurants in the city center, 2 of which are very central. One next to the opera with the title Mouline Rouge and the other next to the Kohlmarkt shopping street. Hammer in the name Vapiano V maps.me and you can easily find them.

L'Osteria Italian restaurant in the center of Vienna

We ran into one of their restaurants in Salzburg. And how glad I was, after the first successful experience, to discover their cafe in the center of Vienna!

The menu, as I like, is not large: salads, appetizers, pasta and pizza (here the emphasis is on it). Its taste and size are amazing, so I do not recommend recklessly taking one for each.

The prices, as for Vienna, are very pleasant and at the exit even less than in Vapiano. I have already talked about portions, but with service during busy hours you will have to wait. But not fatal.

Pay attention to this photo, almost all the glasses are empty and people are just hanging out!

In Vienna, this restaurant is mega popular in the evening, so it's best to reserve a table or be prepared to wait a bit. At the bar, while waiting, you can nibble on pistachios))

Located next to the royal stables.

If you walk in the center next to St. Stephen's Cathedral, then from the Plague Column you are 150 meters down the street Bräunerstrasse to house number 11.

What other ways are there to save money?

As trusted sources whispered, in order not to go bankrupt in Vienna on the 3rd day of travel, it is recommended to eat at chain establishments.

Network cafe

In addition to what we have tested Vapiano, there are 3 more:

  1. nordsee- here are standard fish and chips, seafood snacks, soups, noodles, in general, you will not die of hunger. Everything is not very expensive, but you will need the same 12-15 euros. But fresh and authentic! For addresses here - nordsee.com/at/filialen
  2. Akakiko- sushi-mushi and all sorts of Miso soups with shrimp. In general, Japanese cuisine at average prices. Branches in Vienna with a dozen. See their website for the menu and location: www.akakiko.at/menu
  3. Anker is a network of traditional Viennese bakeries that have been working with dough since 1891. They are everywhere, they work almost from 6 in the morning and have everything for a quick bite. They win with their central location and, in addition to coffee and croissants, they sell bread, sandwiches and sweets. Prices are 1-3 euros per item, and coffee 2-3 euros depending on the size. Often seen at train stations. Here is their website: ankerbrot.at

Our Market

The Naschmarkt is the largest food market in the center of Vienna and has its roots in the 18th century. Open every day except Sunday. There are many different cafes of foreign cuisine, mainly Turkish and Korean.

Since this market was a 5-minute walk from us, we looked here early in the morning in search of breakfast. We did not find breakfast or people there. There is nothing to do here before 9 am.

Perhaps you should come later in order to taste local products from sellers directly from the stalls.

The price tags we saw in the cafe cannot be called cheap. Breakfast costs 9 euros per person, and dishes with octopus and rice around 10 euros. You don't roam.

Local eateries

Naschmarkt, which is promoted on the network, is unlikely to be able to compete in prices with ordinary eateries outside the center of Vienna. If you find yourself outside the Ringstrasse, then feel free to go to all sorts of patties and kebabs. They cook tasty and cheap. Yes, there is no pathos and chinaware, but here you really need to decide what you need.

The choice is large, so you won't go hungry. Here are the prices for reference:

Tagesmenu or scheduled lunch

Approximately from 12.00 to 15.00 most of Vienna's restaurants open their doors for hungry office plankton and tourists. In the old fashioned way, for a fixed price of up to 10 euros, you will be offered a set of three courses: first-second-dessert called tagesmenu.

You should not disdain this option, because after 15.00 everything happens according to the laws of the genre: a carriage in a pumpkin, and prices double.

At lunchtime we found ourselves in a posh area of the street Johannesgass e, which is close to the interactive museum house of music, which is discussed in more detail here.

Restaurant Bettelstudent

A popular place among the locals and, as the name suggests, quite inexpensive. Their lunch hours are from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, during which you will be served the menu of the day for as little as 8.90.

In any case, even if you miss this interval, you can order something from the menu, without grabbing your head from the prices. Tasty, fast, large portions, but there is a small overlay. We ourselves did not notice, but they write that there may be a smell of cigarettes inside, coming from a separate room.

Restaurant Zum Kellerwolb

We got here by accident, but as it turned out, the place is quite popular. Having occupied a table at 2 minutes to 3, we exactly managed to taste the “menu of the day” from the establishment. Knowing that my daughter is not an eater of soups and all sorts of frills, we took 2 different menus for three for 8.90 and 9.90.

Drinks must be paid separately.

The first was mushroom soup, the second was schnitzel and boiled beef, and for dessert, an apple pie. Delicious and homemade. We liked it so I recommend it.

They also have a lower hall, specially dedicated to dining gatherings. You could see how the waiters raked mountains of dishes there after dinner battles.

Supermarkets to the rescue

If you can afford the luxury of staying in a rented apartment for a week, then consider yourself lucky. You have the time and opportunity to cook your own dishes for every taste.

In our case, it was a hotel, and no one was going to cook with such a time limit. Therefore, on the way home in case of hunger fainting, we just bought sandwich sets and warm drinks.

On the way home after all the museums, our lifesaver was the supermarket Spar. Here you have sausage cheese, and ready-made sandwiches, noodles in cardboard and fresh pastries.

In the evening we filled the grocery basket with meaning and cheese. But in the morning they ran here for fresh coffee and croissants. Both coffee and pastries here are very tasty, so I recommend it with both hands.

And the prices will only make you laugh. Coffee for 1 euro, and croissants in general for a penny. Sandwiches in a box for 2 euros. The rest of the Anker-type ovens sell bakery products for 1.5-2 euros, and they do not hesitate to sell coffee for 2.50.

In Italy, of course, coffee is much cheaper, but I like Austrian pastries more.

top 5 must visit restaurants

Here, as they say, there would be money!

Griechenbeis

Here you have the oldest restaurant in Vienna Griechenbeis, which has been operating since 1447 and is known for its history with Augustine and the ancient wine cellar, from which they got a bottle or two for Beethoven, and Chaliapin, and Mark Twain.

Augustine himself will meet you at the entrance, so if you need to show off in front of someone, then you are here.

You can browse the menu in advance on their official website. griechenbeisl.at .

Plachutta

The restaurant is also mentioned. Plachutta where you can order a popular dish with boiled beef Tafelspitz- consisting of three components and a whole instruction for use.

The former secretary John Kerry, the lead singer of the Scorpions Klaus Meine and the star boy Andrey Bednyakov from Eagle and Tails loved to gobble up such a kit. Well, Emperor Franz Joseph I

I know 5 of their restaurants in the city. They are really everywhere, but the oldest one is located at WOLLZEILE 38! All details on their website plachutta.at .

And here are the prices for a guide to their most popular dish. And be careful they require 10% tip!

Figlmuller

And for good measure, we will mention the third whale of haute Viennese cuisine - this is a restaurant Figlmüller. Someone managed to call it "one schnitzel restaurant". The menu here is modest, but most tourists come here to screw up the most real schnitzel.

For those who cannot overpower a liter mug of beer in one gulp and eat a couple of hazel grouses at a time, it is recommended to order 1 schnitzel for two.

Check out their website before visiting. figlmueller.at and see what they will put on your plates there.

Salm Brau

Another very popular place, which is more famous for its brewery, which is considered one of the oldest in Europe.

Here you can not only taste freshly brewed beer, which is brewed 3 times a week, but also eat well.

Prices are lower than in venerable restaurants, and at lunchtime you will be served a traditional Viennese 3-course menu for a record low 6.90.

All in all, I don't see any reason not to visit this place. There is one but! They say that on weekends, when the waiters are fully seated, they turn off the “politeness” mode and behave like they are at home.

"Solomon's Beer" is located right at the entrance doors to the Lower Belvedere. Their web page: salmbraeu.com

Trzesniewski

A small cafe a stone's throw from Stephansplatz with a popular reputation among tourists. You will be offered a selection of small sandwiches with traditional fillings. Sandwiches cost around 1.50 euros / piece and, frankly, I don’t know how many of them you need to eat to get full.

I used to think that this cafe in the center was one, but it turns out there are a dozen of them in Vienna. Check out the addresses on their official website trzesniewski.at .

Sweet life in Viennese cafes

I can throw burning terms and popular names in front of you for a long time, I will say that from the entire list of star places we visited only Cafe Centrale- a favorite place of Hitler and Trotsky.

I wanted to sink my teeth into Austrian "Sacher" and wash it down with coffee grounds. The cafe is located very centrally 200 m from the Hofburg Palace. Of course, the interiors, pathos and arrogant waiters.

Our order of 2 coffees and 1 Sacher didn't really surprise anyone. It did not surprise us either, since the cake actually turned out to be a bit dry, but coffee, like coffee.

For show, we recorded a visit for ourselves and minus 12 euros in a common piggy bank. I was struck by the fact that, it turns out, there is a way to leave a tip even when paying by card. The waiter will offer you to dial not 11.80 to write off the account, but any number that you want.

For the evening it is better to book places on their website. cafecentral.wien, although in the morning we grabbed the last table, and in the afternoon we saw how a queue was gathering at the entrance.

Connoisseurs that make up the guide " Vienna in 1 day» recommend eating the famous cake not here, but in the very Cafe Sacher , which is located behind the back of the Vienna Opera.

When we saw the famous hotel and cafe, we decided not to go there, but to their gift shop just to the right of the hotel around the corner, where you can buy a cake to take away. The prices, of course, are crazy: 47 euros for a full cake or 5.10 euros for a small piece.

It's better to get on Strudel show in the Residenz cafe right on the territory of the Schernburg Palace park. Both beautiful and delicious!

Near Cafe Zaher, there is another bohemian Cafe Mozart. This is the oldest coffee house in Vienna, which has been operating since 1794.

How not to get stuck with sausages

We got to Vienna exactly after Istanbul, and Turkey, I must say, is relaxing. Everything here is for people and somehow without unnecessary rip-off. No, you need to look both ways everywhere, but with varying degrees of tension.

In general, in the evening, my wife wanted Viennese sausages. Why not? It costs 4 euros, right? And here it is not!!

Compare these 2 checks and find out where my order is and where is the order of local residents. As they say, find 10 differences:

See on the left check between sausage 1x teller and 1x beer Stiegel all sorts of crap for 7.60 euros?! This is all that the seller gave me at the time, as I hoped that this was all included with the sausage.

The kit comes with a sausage and ketchup or mustard to choose from (you can’t do it together!), And everything else is for money. Pepper, cabbage, cucumber - everything costs about 1 euro per item. When I asked him to give me a hot pepper, he threw them 5 (3.50 euros at the exit!).

In general, I have science, and you have advice, and now I don’t eat Viennese sausages on principle. And I ask the dexterous hawkers to blame for everything!

Every little thing on your cardboard is worth money. Toto I remember that when Albertina's first time in a sausage shop Bitzinger Würstelstand Albertina I asked for both ketchup and mustard at the same time, then they looked at me as an enemy of the state!

Good to know - Restaurant Rosenberer

At the end, 2 words about this popular online restaurant and the “pay by the plate” eating method. It looks like this, you pay for the size of the plate, after which you put whatever you want on it. The main thing is to bring the food to the cashier and not spill it))

Firstly, the procedure itself is not for everyone, and secondly, the feeling after such a dinner in the stomach is like in a garbage pit, and the eyes remained hungry. Yes, and you won’t be able to save money right away - you’ll definitely get 10 euros from your nose.

In general, see for yourself, so that it doesn’t turn out like in a movie with Jim Carrey))

I will make a reservation that to eat inexpensively in Vienna means to pay an average of 8-10 euros per person for a meal.. In other cities of the world, you can order a luxurious dinner with this money, but in Europe, and even more so in Vienna, it is extremely difficult to meet this amount. But there are still ways and I will share them in this article;)

Among Russian tourists, one of the most popular inexpensive establishments in Vienna is restaurant Rosenberger. You can have a modest dinner in it for an average of 6-8 euros, which is a very, very affordable price for the Austrian capital. Rosenberger is located at Maysedergasse 2, this is a small quiet back street just a couple of blocks from the Albertina and the Vienna Opera.

When we entered it, I could not believe that this was the cheapest eatery that everyone on the Runet was talking about. The interior was too luxurious and pompous: chic antique furniture, paintings on all the walls, greenery in pots everywhere, several halls and the general atmosphere of such rich Austrian classics.

This restaurant is arranged as a buffet, where you can collect anything and as much as you like on one plate, and pay only a certain amount for it. Moreover, there is not one display table, but many of them, and each has its own goodies - somewhere soups, somewhere fruits, somewhere sweets, pastries and so on.

Here are the prices for different dishes in Rosenberger:
. A plate of various stewed vegetables, potatoes or pasta with sauces – 6 euros
. Vienna sausage plate + any second choice - 10 euros
. Plate of meat tenderloin + any second choice - 12 euros
. A bowl of fresh fruits and berries (from simple oranges to sliced watermelon, a variety of berries and tropical fruits) – 4 euros
. Ice cream (balls like Baskin Robbins) – 2 euros

In general, the prices are really more than affordable with such a choice of dishes, but we could not resist taking both of them from one and the second table, so it turned out to be expensive (well, by my standards ~ 20 euros). So, if your budget is limited, moderate your appetites :) But, if you came together, most likely, even one plate may be enough for you - they are really big and you can put slides on them =)

And another unexpected surprise from Rosenberger was that Mishutka was given a children's set of all sorts of fun for free - balls, pencils, a book with games and much more. Similar kits are issued on planes, who flies with children will understand;) It was really nice to visit a child-friendly establishment. So, I definitely recommend Rosenberger as one of the most comfortable and inexpensive places in the very center of Vienna.

Here is another list of good inexpensive restaurants in Vienna:
  • Zum Bettelstudent(address: Johannesgasse 12) - is located near the hotel and, in this restaurant you can taste Viennese schnitzel at a price of 12.9 euros, garlic soup from 3.90 euros and many other rather budget-friendly delicacies).
  • Robert's Alt Sievering(address: Sieveringerstr., 63) — mid-price category with real Austrian cuisine, large portions.
  • Fromme Helene(address: Josefstadter Str., 15) is a small restaurant near the Rathaus metro station, with a nice nice courtyard and delicious homemade dishes in the middle price category (schnitzel with a side dish - 17 euros, soup with meat, noodles and vegetables - from 3 euros, strudel - 5 euros).
  • Gasthaus Kopp(address: Engerthstr., 104) - located near the Danube embankment, a little-known among tourists restaurant Gathaus, which is why it only wins, because. The prices are not overpriced and the food is delicious!

General rules for saving in Viennese restaurants

  • During lunch (from 12.00 to 14.00), many establishments in Vienna offer a special set menu, which includes two whole courses at a price of 6-9 €. A great way to have a hearty meal without spending a lot of money :)
  • If you go to a random place and find a menu in it only in German, do not rush to get upset, because this means that the restaurant is clearly only for locals, which means that the prices are lower and the food for your own will be as tasty and authentic as possible, and you can talk to the waiters will be in English as well. in principle, the locals have no problems with it;

In winter, I advise you to look into the cozy and warming Viennese coffee houses, where the aroma of coffee and the famous Sacher chocolate cake hovers!

  • You can try to save money on dinner at a restaurant by taking advantage of the suggested restaurants of the Vienna Card, which gives discounts on both transport and visits to various establishments throughout the city. In the attached brochure you will find an impressive list of restaurants and other bars where this Vienna Card is valid. The only thing you need to understand is that it will most likely contain quite expensive restaurants, where you won’t be able to eat cheaply even with a discount on the card. And one more thing: the card should be in your hands, and be sure to keep the brochure itself with you, the waiters require it;
  • As a rule, the evening menu is more expensive than the daily one. That is, in order to save money, it is better not to wait for dinner, but to have time to eat before 18-19 hours.

    2. Where to eat cheap in Vienna - street food

Except for the numerous stalls with all sorts of Turkish shawarmas, which are often quite appetizing and edible, although the prices for them still seemed too high to me, the famous Viennese sausages will be the best and most authentic street food. They are sold in such kiosks with the inscription Würstelstand (literally "sausage stand" :)). And right there they are preparing on fire. Mmmmm... yum!

The menu is quite diverse: in addition to a bunch of sausage options, there are drinks (including beer) and all sorts of snacks. Click on the photo to enlarge and see more details.

Prices in such "sausage" are very loyal:
    . Hot Dog Frankfurter - 2.8 euros;
    . Spicy sausage Debreziner - 2.9 euros;
    . Waldviertel sausage - 3.8 euros (Waldviertel - northern region of Austria);
    . Sausage with cheese Käsekrainer - 3.9 euros;
    . Grilled sausage - 3.8 euros;
    . Bratwurst - 3.9 euros (Bratwurst - fried minced sausage);
. and other types of sausages at about the same prices, a detailed menu is in the photo above (click on it to enlarge).

The sausage is not the size we are used to, but about 2 times longer, i.e. you can actually eat more than that. The price already includes a rather large (for such and such a sausage) baguette bun, as well as ketchup or mustard if desired. Next to such kiosks, as a rule, there are at least a couple of high tables, as well as benches where you can sit down and have a quiet meal. Definitely one of the most delicious and cheap options to eat in Vienna.

(!) Some sausages are directly noticeably spicy, therefore, if you do not like spicy food, then check this point with the seller. Moreover, if you take food for a child, our children, for example, refused to eat those sausages with a lot of pepper, which is generally not surprising =)

I especially recommend the best, in my opinion, street food stalls Speck Standl near the most famous cathedral of the city of Stephansdom (St. Stephen) on the square Stephanspatz.

Huge long sausages as thick as sausages are sold here for 4.5 euros, you can eat this one to satiety. In addition, they sell various pastries, delicious huge sandwiches with salami or jamon for 3 euros. And from the dishes are fried potatoes or pasta with bacon for 8 euros.

Well, if you already turn back on such food, then you can always turn towards Asian food. Many metro stations have sushi shops, or here is a network of such kiosks Happy Noodles.

They offer rice with vegetables and chicken - 4.4 euros, or just vegetarian for 3.6 euros, the same with noodles - 3.6 euros for a vegetarian portion, and noodles with chicken and vegetables for 4.4 euros. The portions are huge, if there is one, then enough for 2-3 times, or you can safely take it for several people. Next to me, people took one serving for four.

    3. Where to eat cheaply in Vienna - have a picnic

Vienna is a paradise for picnic lovers.

In the summer, you can literally fall on any lawn in the city and no one will say a word to you :) Crush the grass near the Vienna Opera House? Yes Easy!

As soon as any clearing appears in the visibility zone, it is immediately chosen by families with children, couples in love, companies of students or schoolchildren. It's like a city of "meadow gatherings"! :)

Taking with you the same sausages or some other food (almost everywhere there is an opportunity to take it away), you can arrange a very soulful dinner in nature. This is undoubtedly a great option for how you can eat inexpensively in Vienna. Children frolic around, explore the bushes, the sun is warm, the birds are flooding with might and main, and in the background there is always some kind of palace or an old building of stunning beauty. Indescribable sensations! Even just in order to feel it all, it's worth having a picnic in the numerous Viennese meadows;)

And you can stock up on inexpensive picnic food in grocery stores or in Vienna's markets. I will tell about them further.

    4. Inexpensive markets and grocery stores in Vienna

The freshest and most affordable products are bought by local residents, as a rule, in the markets. There are them in almost every district of the city, but the Naschmarkt is especially popular with a huge variety of various products (although it is more expensive than the usual "small-town" markets). By the way, you can also find relatively inexpensive restaurants there, where they immediately prepare the freshest products from the neighboring counter in the market. Bargaining is a must in Viennese markets.

From stores it is better to choose supermarket chains, for example, Merkur or Billa, in my experience they are often cheaper than private shops, but the most affordable are supermarkets Hofer And Penny Markt.

But in my opinion, if you are only here for a few days, going to the supermarket specifically is not the best option. So personally, we found cheap food prices in general in the subway :) Many stations have grocery stores in which food prices are among the most inexpensive we have seen. Although Billa, in my opinion, in general, was almost always nearby, wherever we stopped. Usually we lived in a simple Viennese area with locals, not at all touristy, and bought in shops nearby, that was something to compare with. In the subway, even drinking water was significantly cheaper, vegetables and fruits, pasta, as well as various semi-finished products were also sold there.

Also, shops in the metro are open for quite a long time, while regular shops close early - around 18:00, which was unthinkable for me personally. It happened that we returned from walking around the city at 19-20 o'clock, thinking that we would take food and cook dinner, but all the grocery stores in the area turned out to be closed. So it is worth considering the opening and closing times of Viennese shops. On Sunday, in general, with a probability of 90%, almost everything will be closed.

    5. How to eat inexpensively in Vienna - we cook it ourselves

Since I am traveling with a child, in almost every city in the world I try to rent accommodation with a kitchen. This helps me not only save a lot of money (apartments are often cheaper than hotels), but also get to know the culture better, merging with the locals: say hello to neighbors in the morning, run to the corner store for fresh buns for breakfast, see how the life of this or that person is arranged from the inside. another country. Interesting is not the right word!

In Vienna, for only 45 euros per day, we rented an entire apartment with two rooms and a fully equipped, beautiful kitchen.
