New Year is a bright and cheerful holiday. I want everything around me to sparkle, shine and evoke a feeling of joy. This holiday is associated not only with bright colors and fun, but also with oranges, tangerines and other citruses. Not a single New Year's holiday is complete without them. Therefore, I propose to bake orange cookies in the form of Christmas trees, cones, bells, etc. for this year’s holiday. Children will surely enjoy not only eating it, but also helping in making and painting it. These cookies can be made into a family tradition for the New Year. There will be a reason to have a nice time with the whole family.

Orange cookies with sugar icing for the New Year - recipe with photo:

1. Prepare the ingredients for the dough: drain. butter, eggs, sugar, flour, orange, baking powder. You will also need cookie cutters.

2. Squeeze the juice from one orange and grate the zest on a grater or using a special knife.

3. Heat the butter in the microwave until soft, but not liquid, (10-15 seconds). And mix it with sugar and vanilla sugar.

4. Add eggs to the grated butter and sugar. Let's mix.

5. Pour orange juice into the dough and add grated zest.

6. Now gradually add the sifted flour with baking powder, kneading the dough.

7. The dough should be moderately soft. To make it easier to work with, put it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

8. After 20 minutes, roll out the cooled dough to a thickness of 5-8 mm.

9. Cut out cookies using different Christmas cutters. The remaining pieces of dough will need to be rolled out again to cut out the cookies.

10. Place the orange cookies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

11. Send the cookies to bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees. oven for 10-15 minutes.

Sugar icing for cookies:

1. We have the orange cookies ready, now it’s time to decorate. Let's prepare the necessary ingredients for the glaze: Powdered sugar, lemon, dyes and colorful sprinkles.

2. Add a little lemon juice to a glass of water (8 tbsp). Place fine powdered sugar in a separate bowl.

3. Add the resulting lemon syrup to the powdered sugar and stir well until smooth.

4. The sugar glaze should be moderately liquid. So that you can easily paint cookies with a brush, and the paint will not run off. If you see that you have gone too far with water, add more powder. Or vice versa, if the cookies cannot be painted because the icing hardens as it goes, add more syrup.

4. Divide the glaze into several parts to add a different dye to each of them. I used green and red dyes, and also added cocoa to one of the parts and left the other part just white.

5. Now you need to quickly color the orange cookies in different colors. I painted with an ordinary brush. You can dip the cookies completely into the glaze and carefully place them on a flat surface to dry.

6. While the glaze has not dried, you can immediately sprinkle the cookies with colorful sprinkles or coconut flakes after coloring.

The sugar icing on the cookies dries very quickly, so you can soon collect the cookies all together in a basket. The coating will not deteriorate.

You know, there are recipes that always come to the rescue when a friend says that she will come to visit you in 30 minutes, and all you have in the refrigerator is butter, lemon, eggs (and a mouse that hanged itself).

Then, add a spoonful of lemon juice.

Remove from the bowl and knead the dough on a flat surface (on the table) under the warmth of your hands, the oil absorbs the flour, and the dough begins to form into a plastic mass.

After a smooth, plastic dough is formed, you need to wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

While the dough is in the refrigerator, I I'm preparing icing. Icing is glaze. To ensure that the glaze does not darken and its consistency is denser, I add a little lemon juice (1/2 teaspoon).

I would like to note that the amount of sugar indicated in the recipe for making icing can be varied slightly. It depends on how big the egg was from which we extracted the white.

The glaze is brought to the required consistency. The glaze is thicker for the outline, and liquid for filling. Then cover with cling film to prevent it from getting crusty.

For convenience, you can use a pastry bag with a nozzle. But, in my experience, the bag is no worse if you draw simple patterns.
Prepare the cookies by cutting them into shapes.

Place cookies on pastry paper. Set the oven temperature to 180 degrees. Bake for about 8 minutes.

It is very important not to overlook when the livers are browning. They burn instantly!

I usually decorate the stars with icing.

To decorate with icing, I use a regular plastic bag. First I cut off a corner, and then I load the icing there. Once all the icing is in the bag, cut off the tip of the bag and start painting.

I want to say that these simple cookies always delight all my guests! And absolutely everyone leaves me with a recipe. Today I am pleased to share this “star” recipe with you! And yes, this is my debut on the site :)

What could be tastier than shortbread cookies? Only homemade shortbread! Today we will talk about a variety of recipes for this delicious pastry, as well as ways to prepare glaze and coat finished products with it.

Making shortbread cookies - basic recipe

This recipe can be safely called basic. By adding different ingredients, you can achieve completely different tastes. Making these cookies is very easy, you just need to purchase the necessary ingredients. So, let's take the following ingredients:

  • Butter - 200 grams;
  • Granulated sugar - 1 glass;
  • Flour - about a glass (how much the dough will take);
  • Vanilla sugar - teaspoon.

Cooking method:

  1. The butter must be removed from the refrigerator in advance. Moreover, it is better not to skimp on this product - replacing it with margarine or spread will negatively affect the taste of the cookies. Mix softened butter with sugar, add flour.
  2. Knead the dough until you get an elastic “bun”.
  3. Now roll it out on a floured surface and cut out the cookies into the desired shape. For example, circles. If desired, sprinkle each cookie with sugar or cinnamon and place in a preheated oven (temperature 200 degrees). The cookies bake quite quickly - they are ready in 15 minutes. Make sure that the products do not burn; if necessary, simply reduce the heat.

Chocolate shortbread cookies

Chocolate cookies are made based on the above recipe. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa to the dough, then bake the cookies.

Both regular and chocolate cookies can be made with filling. For example, jam, marmalade or melted chocolate. To do this, grease one cookie with the filling and place another on top. We wait for complete hardening and serve the sweets to the table.

Preparing glaze for shortbread cookies

Even the simplest cookies can look festive and original. To do this, just prepare the glaze. We will talk about several glaze recipes, as well as New Year's decorations for finished baked goods. If you have children, making this dessert can be a real New Year's tradition.

For the first and simplest version of the glaze, we take the following products:

  • Powdered sugar - about 200 grams;
  • Water - approximately 40-60 milliliters;
  • Lemon juice - teaspoon.

Pour some water and lemon juice into the powder. Whip the mixture intensively with a whisk, and then add the rest of the water. The finished glaze should be glossy. With the help of dyes it can be painted in any color.

Another glaze recipe is butter-based. We take the following components:

  • Butter - a glass;
  • Granulated sugar - 4 cups;
  • 4 tablespoons heavy cream;
  • A couple of drops of vanilla extract.

The main task is to beat the butter and sugar well. To do this we use a food processor or mixer. As soon as the mass becomes dense and airy, add cream and vanilla extract to it and beat for a couple more minutes.

Decoration for New Year's cookies

Since everyone's favorite New Year holiday is approaching, we suggest you try decorating cookies with themed painting.

  1. Cut out cookies in the shape of a boot. Apply red icing to the entire surface, then use white icing to paint the cookies with any pattern.

    You can add some bright colors, but white painting looks best.

  2. Cover cookies in the shape of a Christmas tree with green fondant icing. Then, using several different colored icing options, we apply small drops (balls), and then draw garlands.
  3. Cut the dough into a mitten shape and bake the cookies. Now you can give free rein to your imagination - use any colors of the main coating and ornament, you can glue small dragees with glaze as decoration.
  4. If you are good at sculpting, make sweets in the shape of the symbol of the coming year - a dog.
  5. We build a snowman from three circles of different diameters. Let's bake. Then we cover it with white icing and draw eyes, nose and scarf using other colors. For these purposes, you can use gel culinary pencils, which are used to write inscriptions on cakes and cupcakes.
  6. And the easiest option is to make a round cake, and then paint each cookie in the form of a decoration ball. You can glue culinary sprinkles of various shapes to create a very interesting product.

Decorating cookies is great with kids. They will certainly like the result. In addition, such fancy products can be hung on the Christmas tree. And of course, homemade sweets are much healthier than store-bought ones, which are simply stuffed with additives and preservatives.
