Today they use special silicone molds or an apparatus for making cake pops, which works on the principle of a waffle iron. Food coloring is sometimes added to the dough or cream to give the desired color to the confectionery product. After preparing the base of the cake pop, the cake is placed on a plastic or wooden stick, like a lollipop. The dessert preparation is cooled, after which they begin to decorate.

Kitchen appliances and utensils: bowl, mixer, baking dish, spatula, sticks for cake pops.

Required Products

Before you make cake pops at home, you need to stock up on the necessary ingredients. We will need:

The history of cake pops

Gifted pastry chef Angie Dudley created a cake on a stick, similar to a lollipop, drizzled with icing. Cake pops are officially recognized in 2008. The new dessert was greeted with caution. But soon, when Angie posted the first photographs of her work on her website, the idea of lollipops made from dough was appreciated and people began asking for a recipe for an unusual dessert.

But it cannot be said that none of the confectioners have made such balls before. Many pastry shops sold similarities to popcakes, only without the stick.

They appeared due to the fact that cooks got rid of the remnants of prepared biscuits by mixing the remaining pieces with cream and giving them a round shape.

True gourmets love desserts that contain one ingredient that only wealthy clients can afford. This ingredient is a diamond! It is used for decoration and is used as a marking of the eliteness of the dessert.

How to make cake pops at home

First, I will tell you how to make cake pops at home.

Queen Marie Antoinette of France is credited with the phrase: “If they have no bread, let them eat cake!”

Stage 1 ingredients:

  • Eggs- 2 pcs.;
  • Sugar- 150 g;

To prepare a chocolate sponge cake, you need to break the eggs, add sugar to them and beat with a mixer. I do this at the highest speed.

Stage 2 ingredients:

  • Flour- 100 g;
  • Cocoa- 3 tsp;
  • Baking powder- 1 tsp;
  • Soda- on the tip of the knife.

Now take the flour and sift it. Add cocoa, baking powder and soda, mix and pour into beaten eggs with sugar.
You can mix with a spatula. But I do this with a mixer at low speed. It works out much faster this way.

Place the dough in a greased form and place it in the oven, preheated to 150°C.
Bake the biscuit until done. It only takes me 10-12 minutes.

The finished biscuit should be allowed to cool. This usually takes about half an hour.

Take the cooled biscuit out of the mold and begin to crumble it.

Stage 3 ingredients:

  • Soft butter- 2.5 tbsp. l.;
  • Boiled condensed milk- 2.5 tbsp. l.

Now we will prepare the cream. It can be made in any way using an oil base. My family loves boiled condensed milk cream.

Pour soft butter and boiled condensed milk into a bowl. Beat the ingredients with a mixer at high speed.

Add the finished cream one spoon at a time to the biscuit crumbs and mix. The amount of cream depends on the moisture content of the biscuit.
The main thing is to get a mass that will mold well. I usually use two spoons of cream.

For each popcake you need 25 g of biscuit mass. On average, I get 10 pieces of cakes on a stick from the whole mass.
Divide the biscuit mixture into pieces and make a round shape for future cake pops. You need to insert cake pop sticks into the finished balls, dipping the edge of each into melted chocolate.
This is done to form sides that will help the finished cake pops stick to the stick.

Place the resulting balls with sticks in the refrigerator. You can leave them there all night. But two hours will be enough.

Frosting recipe for cake pops

Now the balls need to be coated with glaze.

In my case, preparing icing for cake pops does not require a special recipe.

Ingredients for glaze:

  • Chocolate white- 175 g;
  • Glaze white— 200 g.

The chocolate needs to be melted in the microwave on defrost mode. The main thing is not to overcook it to avoid the appearance of lumps.

To coat the cake pops, the temperature of the chocolate should be around 35°C.

Take the cake pops by the stick and dip them into the melted chocolate. Excess chocolate should be carefully shaken off.

And my second option for decorating popcakes is to use candy frosting. It needs to be melted in the same way as chocolate. And do the same, dipping each ball on a stick into the glaze.

How to beautifully decorate and serve cake pops

You can decorate popcakes using different sprinkles, colored sugar, and small figures. It depends on what holiday you are preparing a sweet dessert for. New Year's cake pops can be made in the shape of a Christmas tree or a snowman. It all depends on your imagination.

Cake pops for Halloween can be made in the shape of a pumpkin or scary faces. You need to decorate before the icing or chocolate has time to harden.

Serve dessert on a plate or in a glass. Such beauty will not leave anyone indifferent.

Now you know how to make cake pops at home. But remember a few more simple tips and tricks:

  1. You can crumble the sponge cake for popcakes into very fine crumbs, similar to breadcrumbs. The biscuit should immediately be broken into pieces, allowed to dry and then crumbled. But remember that small crumbs require more cream.
  2. When shaping the cakes on a stick, try to make it perfectly smooth, without cracks. The smoother the shape, the better the glaze will lie.
  3. Place ready-made popcakes on a rack in the refrigerator. To do this, you can use polystyrene foam, a loaf, or a jar with a loose mixture.
  4. The dessert can be made in any form. You can cut out any shapes from the prepared cake base. Or immediately bake the dough in the form of some figures.

Hello, my young cooks! Yes, exactly the young ones. Because if you came across an article about cake pops, it means you have small children, and since you’re trying so hard to please them, there’s still a fire burning in your eyes, and there’s a little gunpowder in your flasks.

Although I personally don’t have children, I have 3 nephews, and each has their own taste for sweets. It’s quite difficult to please everyone with one cake at a time.

And when a dozen more of the same personalities with formed strong opinions gather at their place, then You can’t count on absolute success among young people.

And only THIS dessert, no matter what it consists of, gets the wildest response from absolutely everyone representatives of our younger generation.

Of course, these are fashionable, very popular, bright and beautiful cake pops, without which not a single children’s party is complete. I have already tested their effect several times: regardless of their culinary preferences, the child will always choose a beautiful ball on a stick. And even if it is ugly (let’s say, an ordinary chocolate ball), the “magic wand” will still do its job.

Children flock to these treats like flies. We use them as a reward for eating lunch. Works 100%. Let me clarify that the age category of our “pets” is from 5 to 7 years.

And what can we say about the fact that in the “heart” of a cake pop you can put the most healthy filling, which your child would not even look at if it were in a different form. Use cottage cheese, nuts, dried fruits. Yes, the most ordinary apple, attached to a stick and dipped in chocolate, will definitely go with a bang.

I’ve made these mini pies more than once and every time they blow up the Internet at children’s parties. No matter what filling I put in them and how I decorate them.

Stuff any filling into a chocolate shell, place it on a stick, and children will eat whatever you give them! This is the most win-win a way to feed your child all sorts of goodies.

For some reason, all children, without exception, fall for this magic wand. Use it.

Let's see what you can use to make children's cake pops at home.

Most of the recipes that I found on the Internet suggest that we use vanilla or chocolate sponge cake as the basis for cake pops. But if you bake a sponge cake especially for cake pops, and especially two different ones, then you won’t have any time to spare, especially if little tramps (or barefoot little ones, it doesn’t matter) are jumping around nearby. Here you need to act quickly and in a clearly defined direction.

That's why I always use ready-made cookies, white or chocolate, in my recipes. For me, it's not only easier/faster, it's also tastier than sponge balls.

Here are a few of my tried-and-true no-bake cookie recipes that everyone will love.

You can vary the combinations and interchange types of cookies. The main thing is to understand The essence of making cake pops: The dry component is mixed with the wet in such a proportion that the resulting mass can be molded into even balls. Wherein: A) the dough should not be dry, otherwise the balls will fall apart, but also b) It should not be too soft so that the balls stick well to the stick and keep their shape, and flavoring additives are a matter of your tastes and imagination.

1. Cake pops “Potato”

This is by far my favorite interpretation of cake pops. Our good old “potatoes” in “fashionable packaging”.

For the “test” let’s take:

  • milk - 165 ml
  • sugar - 100 gr.
  • butter - 80 gr.
  • cocoa - 3 tbsp.
  • nuts, chopped - 50 gr. (optional)

For glazing:

  • white, black or milk chocolate - 200 gr.
  • (preferably coconut , promotional code for discount POR7412)

For decoration:

  • confectionery topping - for decoration (order in the online store )
  • (order )

Preparing the chocolate mass for the “potatoes”

  1. Pour milk into a saucepan, add sugar and put on fire. With regular stirring, wait until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.
  2. Cut the butter into cubes and add it to the milk. Stir until the butter dissolves and leave to cool.
  3. In a blender or using a rolling pin and a bag, grind the cookies into crumbs. Mix with cocoa powder and chopped nuts.
  4. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Place the mixture in the refrigerator to harden for 30 minutes.

How to do it right form cake pops?

2. Chocolate cake pops with cream cheese

This recipe is from a book by Lebanese-born Swedish pastry chef Roy Fares.

You can use either cream cheese or mascarpone as a “binder”. But also curd sy p type "Almette" is also perfect.

  • cream or curd cheese - 150 gr. (For example, Hochland )

  • white chocolate - 200 gr.
  • vegetable oil (odorless) - 20 ml

For decoration:

  • confectionery topping, nuts, coconut flakes, grated cookies
  • sticks for cake pops - 25 pcs.

From the above ingredients we will get 20-25 cake pops.

Preparing the chocolate mass:

  1. In a blender, grind the cookies into very fine crumbs. Add cream cheese and puree in a blender again until smooth. Place the resulting mass in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

We form cake pops as in the first recipe ⇑

3. White cake pops

If you want the same hairs, just place the finished cake pops not in a glass, but on a plate with confectionery sprinkles.

These cake pops are made without cocoa. Therefore, such cakes will look more impressive in black glaze.

We will need:

  • cookies (such as “Jubilee”) - 300 gr.
  • condensed milk - 150-200 gr.
  • chopped nuts - 50 gr. (optional)
  • cognac, liqueur - 1 tbsp. (optional)

For glazing:

  • dark or milk chocolate - 200 gr.
  • vegetable oil (odorless) - 20 ml

For decoration:

  • confectionery topping, nuts - for decoration
  • sticks for cake pops - 25 pcs.

For the "test":

  1. Grind the cookies in a blender and add 150 g. condensed milk Mix thoroughly. If the mass turns out crumbly (this depends on what kind of cookies you take), add a little more condensed milk and mix.
  2. Place the resulting mass in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, after which We form cakepops using the method indicated in recipe No. 1 ⇑

In fact, the base of cake pops can be any cupcake or sponge cake, and any thick jam, boiled condensed milk, Nutella, caramel, peanut butter, lemon curd, custard, etc. can be used as a gluing agent.

That's all I wanted to say.

Now it's your turn to share your ideas and uncontrollable fantasies. And I will shake my tail.

Good luck, love and patience.

Cake pops have become a very popular treat. Still would! “Cakes on a stick” look beautiful and unusual and are winning more and more adult and especially children’s hearts :))
